So here we are. Never seen a planning thread around here and not familiar with how the format is, but I just swing with the flow!

Okay. Welcome to the Farewell Ride Planning Group

Now, to those unfamiliar with the project, I think a short introduction makes sense.

A number of GMs have recently played with the thought to hang their GM hat up, but want to go out with a bam instead of a whimper. A number have probed their friends to organize a bigger multi-game project and these two groups merged and agreed on pure story-above-everything approach.

So now we got four GMs, planning four games. Connected. Interacting even occasionally. For some of them it will be their final game as a GM. So we all plan to make it one for the books.

This thread serves the purpose to coordinate this endeavor, plan and organize the games and also give potential players a spot to look at the project, ask questions, reserve roles etc.

We will also present the games here as planning progresses.

So, members of the Farewell Society (which I just invented) are @Lawbreaker, @DarkLordoftheFins, @LordTroepfchen and @SirakRomar.

    Rules:

    1. We can discuss any organizational and format matter here.
    2. Anyone can ask questions.
    3. Anyone is welcome.
    4. NO PLOT DISCUSSION! Spoilers or details on the storyline are strictly forbidden! The teasers and OPs of the games are the sole exception. Remember we are all GMs and Players in this.

Thanks for putting this up Lawbreaker!

So I think indeed we need to do some planning. Don't think anything like this was ever even attempted before. Not here at least!

Some topics summarized that recently came up:

    1. Do we need a Headwriter who coordinates plots (and knows them
and therefore gives up his right to play)? If yes, who is the Boss? What authority has he?
    2. Player Caps?
    3. Timeline?
    4. Exclusivity for GMing?
    5. Players (do we allow people in several games?)

Okay, let us do one by one.

Do we need a Lead? Headwriter? GM of GMs type of coordinator?

Pro: How do we wanna connect the games otherwise without spoiling the plots to each other all the time?

Con: We need to give up a bit of our GMing power to another guy. I would say that guy becomes Co-GM to all games. I personally never had a Co-GM.

All in all ... YES. I mean ... will make coordination a lot easier, right? Otherwise this could become a mess.

We are serious about this, are we? :D A very old dream coming true!

    To the question:
Yes, we do. Otherwise these are three to four games running next to each other using some common elements. To really connect them we need someone to make sure they do.

Guess the trick will be allowing them to "bloom" and be the GMs thing while making sure the plots fall in line.

    So YES.

    *looks fairly curious about this*

    The End cometh.

I dread it, of course, but anticipate it, because it certainly happens.

The Epitaph Saga could be said to be my finale. It could be, perhaps. But I am interested to see what the four of your create for the end.

I personally envision this to be a Trilogy with The Sins of the Saints and The Crossing/The Reckoning being part one and two. Actually DROWN would almost qualify as being number 3, but it is very SciFi.

That makes things easier. Great idea @Lawbreaker.

Yes, we need a lead writer. I imagine this like a writer's room for Auteurs. Without one guy guiding us down the rabbit hole we might never get anywhere.

So who does the job? Nominations?

I'd say Fin. He can handle big projects ... and is a fifth dan Master of Plots.

I thankfully decline. Very honored, but I think my contribution to the project could be bigger in other areas.

    1. I wanna play in all those games
    2. I think I had my giant to tame. Not got the fire anymore.
    3. RL might be crazy next year. I might not be reliable enough.

I'd say LordT. He is our best world builder and it was his idea after all!

End of an era I'd say.

Re Lead ... sure. I can do it. If you are okay with it @SirakRomar and @Lawbreaker

Fantastic, I'll make you admin on the story group, LordT.

Actually I think I did many games in many places, but never with anybody else on board. This is interesting. Also that probably ruled me out as Lead ... wouldn't know what to do.

    Next topic: Player Caps?

I'd say we need not to dwell too long about this one ... looking at the last few games that came out and what happened to LordT's brilliant Villain I doubt many outside of us will play and we have any risk of accidentially starting a flagship game. Nevertheless we might wanna avoid having a "main game" and three sidegames, so why not say a cap of 5?

Actually I would even say let us focus. Been giving it some thought. This is not meant to be massive and we divide player base between 4. So why not 1-3? Intentional small size games.

Actually I agree. 1 to 1. 1 to 2. 1 to 3. Good sizes for intense games like this. 5 would be too much.

If we agree to play in each other's games that takes up to two players. Right? I think Fin's idea of 5 as a maximum makes sense.
