Star Wars OPEN The Final Stand Chapter 1 — Accepting New Players —

Rebuke

The Dark Jedi watched the shuttle make its way out of the hangar. JuDais turned back and walked past a battalion of white armored troopers who stood as stone. He returned to the hallway, and re-entered the lift.

Lord Vader limbs were re-attached, his new armor shimmering. He held in his hand a melt mask, his scarred face peering at it before setting it down and a proud installing an apparatus and matching face plate to the one now damaged shrouded his scarred face. The eyes of the visor were a faint ruby, making it appear as if the flame of his own eyes had burnt to the glass sockets. The Dark Lord rose with a breath, which became a cadence, then a chant of life. The door chimed with a plea for entry. Vader opened it without a touch of his fingers. JuDais entered, and took a knee before The Dark Lord.

Vader’s breaths were like the beating of a drum in the Dark Jedi. He waited for the interruption of his Lord’s words.

“The Jedi escaped.”

JuDais nodded.

Vader turned towards the Becta Tank and throne of healing.

“You have failed me.”

JuDais lowered his head to the floor.

“I am at your mercy my Lord.”

JuDais felt his windpipe tightened and he was thrown against the wall, raised up in the air and held in place.

“Mercy?! There is no mercy in the dark side!”

JuDais felt his ability to draw air from his lungs draw faint, and his ability to remain conscious fading. It was at this moment he was released. He began. To cough up blood, and his chest heaved.

“Strike.. strike me down.. Master. I am unworthy..”

Vader raised up the Executioner by the neck with his gloved hand.

“No. You must be broken still.”

Vader released his hand.

JuDais regaining his voice as Vader turned away said,
“No mercy.. you said in the darkness there is none.”
He was trying to goad the Dark Lord to end his misery.

Vader breaths answered for a while and then he said.
“For you, death is mercy. The same for myself. You will share in the torment of living. When I am finished with your training, you will not fail me again.”

The Dark Lord turned, his ruby eyes fixed on the Dark Jedi.

“There is no escape. Give yourself to the dark side.”

IC: Avinn Neir

Avinn turned to the controls to see that a transmission was trying to come through. He pressed a button and a hologram of Tanal appeared. Avinn was surprised by the transmission.

"This is jedi master Tanal Jahid of Falcon Squadron, I have escaped the empire with a little help from the inside, I am sending this transmission to all ships of the rebel alliance especially The Scarlet Vessel of my squadron. If you are receiving this then I am on my way to a planet known as utapu, I shall be awaiting your arrival. Avinn I will have you know that I may need assistance in my own own training, Safina, You been a great young padawan and I will continue your training as soon as I am able and Farnun, I hope to see you soon my friend and I am glad that our paths crossed. I hope you all the best and may the force be with you." and with that Tanal disappeared. Avinn could sense that Tanal had escaped from the empire but he was faint very faint and it was hard if not impossible to figure out where he was. Avinn wondered what Farnun's and Safina's reactions would be.

Alive!

The scoundrel had stared at the hologram of Master Tanal, and for a brief moment, refused to believe that it was real. This had to be some kind of Imperial Trick! But somehow, he knew it.

It was really him.

Farnun threw his arms into the air and looked up, relief washing off him like tidal waves.

Thank the Force!!!!

Inwardly, he rejoiced and barely kept himself from breaking down again. He had to be strong now, not just strong- stronger! Master Tanal was ALIVE!!!

Immediately, he turned his head and gazed at Safina. He flashed her a smile, conveying his joy and relief. That Master Tanal mentioned him positively was uplifting in ways he could not describe. It buoyed his soul.

"Master Avinn!" The scoundrel called out suddenly, excitement coursing through him once again.

"Should I change or heading to Utapau or continue on to our current destination?"

IC: Avinn Neir

"I would change course for Utapau, We need to get to Master Jahid as soon as possible just send word to, Air Force 4 Squadron that we will be making a little detour." Avinn replied to the young scoundrel. Avinn then left the cockpit and went into his quarters aboard the ship. He then reached underneath the bed. He found an old jedi holocorn, his wrist com, his robes and his padawan's old lightsaber. He pulled out the holocron. He used the force to open it. A image of Obi-wan Kenobi appered a fellow memebr of the jedi council.

"This is Master Obi Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic, have fallen with a dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi. Trust in The Force. Do not return to the Temple…that time has past. And our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged. Our trust. Our faith. Our friendships. But we must persevere. And in time, a new hope will emerge. May the Force be with you, always." the holocron then closed and Avinn then slipped on his jedi robes and clipped his yellow lightsaber to his belt.

IC: Safina
Aboard the Scarlet Vessel, contemplative



Safina struggled between struts reinforcing the space between inner and outer hull, her head spinning.

It was not just that Master Aviinn had suggested he would not oppose her having a relationship, that he had once had one himself... as strange and counter to the Jedi code as that was... he had also said...

The revelation had caused her to blush scarlet and run away even quicker! Though she had hardly any memory of her own family, Safina imagined this must be how it feels when a father learns of a daughter's first crush. Embarrassment!

She bit her lip. Was I really so obvious? What will Farnun think of me now?

She paused, a very slight breeze brushing her legs. She turned and passed her hand near her knee. Yes, there it is. A soldered line - presumably from a previous patch-up after some old battle - was not quite airtight. A very faint trickle of air was escaping.

"Here it is, Tee-six," she called to the astromech. "Just needs a new layer melting over the top."

She shuffled away as the little droid rolled in and produced its arc-welder tool. She turned away to shield her eyes from the glare as the robot worked.

The unbidden thoughts rose in her mind again. Master Avinn had broken the Jedi Code, and it sounded like that had ended very badly for him. How many times had Master Qiid warned her of doing the same as she was growing up? Could she really turn aside from her path? She certainly could not deny her feelings for Farnun were real.

And did Avinn's words really offer a solution? A third way?

It was all so confusing.

The droid's beeping interrupted her reverie. She turned round. "What is it?"

Tee-six booped and burped excitedly. Safina could not understand. The hull seemed to be fixed. Then the droid played a crackling snippet from a transmission that it had intercepted.

"Oh my...!" Safina rose too quickly and banged her head in the confined space. She rubbed it quickly and her enthusiasm could not be doused. "He's escaped!"

Safina struggled out of the maintenance space and raced back to the cockpit. There, she found Farnun and Avinn listening to the same transmission. She exchanged relieved grins with them both. Oh, I should have had faith in the Force!

Safina took a seat and felt her excitement rise as they plotted a course for Utapau.

IC: Tanal Jahid.

Tanal had exited hyperspace and the planet utapau loomed in front of him. He maneuvered the ship in for landing and he landed on one of the landing platforms and then shut down the systems of the imperial shuttle. Tanal then left it and was greeted by a Pau'an.

"Greetings, welcome to our beautiful planet of Utapau, what can we do for you?" He said

"Hello, I am jedi master Tanal Jahid, i wish to use your city as a hideout until my ship arrives to collect me with the rest of my crew." Replied Tanal to the pau'an

"Of course this way please" Said the pau'an. Tanal followed him.

"I understand that your planet was under the occupation of the separatists during the clone wars?" Asked Tanal

"Yes, no adays we lend assistance to all remaining jedi and the rebel alliance when we can." Replied the pau'an

"I see, well on behalf of Falcon squadron, I'd like to thank you for your service." Tanal said.

IC: Farnun Venat
A moment of calm

The order had been given and Farnun did comply in earnest as a course was immediately set to Utapau.

As far as he could tell, they were not being pursued by Imperial Forces, though he did expect them at some point. At least for the moment, there was peace and good cheer among him and his fellow adventurers. Master Jahid was alive and all seemed well. It was a strange and welcomed feeling, one he wished would last longer and one everyone should experience.

"We should be coming up on Utapau in a few moments." The scoundrel announced as he turned around in his co-pilot's seat to regard both Master Avinn and Safina.

A melancholy smile adorned the scoundrel's kind face as thoughts of hearth and family crossed his mind. These 'jedi' were his family now. Their cause was his cause, he would go wherever they went, and would help as best he could. In his mind, he felt gratitude towards Master Avinn and Jahid. They both personified qualities he admired. Strength, commitment, decisiveness, kindness, steadfastness. These were good leaders, worthy to be followed. He would listen to their counsel going forward.

Safina. Lovely Safina.

If only he could escape with her, guard her from all trouble, and watch her be happy and daring and basically anything she wanted to be. Farnun was fooling himself, thinking that he could offer her anything beyond a temporary distraction. But he resolved to do what he could to protect her, no matter if....no matter if.....well, best not to ruin a peaceful moment with negative thoughts.

Turning just so, Farnun began to service his Blaster pistol as he took it apart and began the cleaning process. He would need to recharge it as well. Doing so kept him busy, and also kept his mind at ease. Yes, he too would find ways he needed to improve and train himself to become better, all for the sake of the cause. Farnun was inspired now, to become a better 'Freedom Fighter'. In his mind, he now understood, this must be exactly what it felt like when the Jedi and Clone Troopers had come to Onderon so long ago.

This moment, it was confirmation, that he was on the right path.

Training

The Dark Jedi fell to the ground, he legs goving way like eels. Lord Vader hammered at him with all his might, his ruby blade beating upon hin like an anvil.
“Get up.”
JuDais rose his red blade humming. He tried to parry another cut, but it was linked into a thrust, the tip dug into his belly. The smell of flesh burning filled the air. Vader pulled back, he stood at ease.
“It is unwise to lower your defenses.”
JuDais stood their as the searing pain filled his body.
Vader drew closer once more.
“You lack focus. You must channel your anger.”
The Dark Jedi stood and dropped his curved hilt saber. The blade blipped off. He had surrendered.
Vader’s breaths beat like that of JuDais’ heart.
“I must find new ways to motivate you.”
An Officer entered the room.
“Lord Vader, we have tracked the Imperial Shuttle to Utapau system.”
The Dark Lord replied,
“Good. Inform Moff Hellyon, and set a course.”
The Officer bowed and left.
JuDais face became painted with worry.
Vader turned to his Acolyte.
“You care about The Jedi.”
The Dark Jedi made no reply.
Vader continued.
“Your feelings for him and his companions are strong.”
Vader drew closer.
“If you will not give into the dark side, perhaps they will.”
JuDais felt himself come alive, he levitated his saber into his hands and ignited it, and began attacking the Dark Lord, “No!” The blows from the Dark Jedi matched those of the hammer he had felt, his eyes flaring red. Vader defended, but for the first time had to wield his weapon with both hands and cause a lock up.
“Good. Your feelings have made your strong. Now release your hatred!”
The Dark Lord and his Dark Jedi continued as the Executor made its jump into Hyperspace.

IC: Avinn Neir and Tanal Jahid

Avinn re-entered the cockpit of the scarlet vessel and sat in the poilet seat. Avinn then sat back and watched as they zoomed through hyperspace. After a couple of minutes Avinn cut the hyper drive and an almost familiar planet loomed before them. Utapau. Where the clone wars was supposed to end after the destruction of general grievous. Avinn took the vessel and landed it on a landing platform next to the one that housed an imperial shuttle. Avinn then cut the engines and left the vessel. He spotted Tanal waiting for them nearby. Avinn was relieved that Tanal was alive. The two walked over to each other.

"Tanal." said Avinn.

"Avinn" said Tanal.

Avinn then turned to the scarlet vessel.

"Safina, Farnun come on out, he's alive" Said Avinn. He hoped that they would know that it was Tanal he was on about. Just then a fleet of star destroyers came out of hyperspace and Tanal knew that they had tracked the imperial shuttle. That was when Avinn and Tanal force pushed the shuttle of the platform. Just in time two as a few moments later the whole thing blew up. That was close. Avinn and Tanal also prepared for the empire's arrival on the planets surface.

IC: George starwalker

George had escaped the empire what what remained of Air Force 4 squadron. Joseph Hutchinson was lost in the battle along with many who gave their lives to fight against the empire. George had also ordered the fleet to exit hyperspace.

"Get the work on repairs, we won't be able to fight against the empire if we have damaged ships now can we?" Commanded George. He then waited any news from falcon squadron. At long last he received it. The scarlet vessel had fought there way out of the hands of the empire and were heading to the utapau system to pick up one of there crew. George sensed that it may be a trap so he ordered the entire squadron to set a course for the utapau system. The squadron the made the jump to hyperspace.

IC: Darth Vader
Imperial March



The Executor and several other Star destroyers made the jump to Lightspeed. The massive ship became a great thin white beam that stretched across the stars.

The Executor came out of Hyperspsce above Utapu. There its shadow nearly engulfed the peridot green, yellow and white planet. Out of the hangar, great landing crafts carrying AT-STs, Tanks, and troops descended on the surface. Tie Fighters in swarms patrolled the skyline and around the Executor.

The Empire had come..

Lord Vader in his mediation chamber focused his anger, his helm, and pieces of his armor levitating. His eyes became like coals of flames. The image of the Green Skinned Jedi filled his mind. He heard his Master’s voice. “The Jedi are relentless, If they are not all destroyed, it will be civil war without end.”

The screen on his chamber came alive with an Officer in grey cap and uniform.

“Pardon me. Lord Vader, we have arrived.”

The Dark Lord raised his head, the pieces of his armor began to float to his body and connect like pieces of a puzzle. His pauldrons latched, his chest piece, and finally his mask came together around his head.

The breaths of the Sith Lord rose as he gave answer,

“Good. Prepare my shuttle.”

The hunt would begin a new.

As The Dark Lord rose from his throne and the screen went dark, he exited to the hallway, where JuDais joined him from another chamber, he in red cape and golden pauldron on his left arm. Vader’s breaths between them.

They came to the hangar, where Lord Vader and JuDais boarded the shuttle together. The Three folded grey wings shifted, two arching downward as if rose and the long emerald horizontal green bar thruster propelled the ship out the hangar, escorted by Tie Interceptors.

Vader stood inside, his arms crossed, JuDais at his side. He broke the silence with words uttered once before by The Emperor,

“Do not hesitate, show no mercy.”

IC: Tanal Jahid & Avinn Neir

Tanal watched as the Empire launched the attack. He had only just escaped and they were back. Tanal knew they would never be able to fight the empire alone. Tanal jumped into General mode to protect his squadron.

"Farnun, Safina, get the scarlet vessel into the air and take out some of those TIE fighters." said Tanal as a landing craft landed and many storm troopers filled out. Tanal and Avinn ran towards them and started to slice them up killing them with what they remember from their training.

"Just like the battle of geonosis, hey master?" asked Tanal over the raging blaster fire of the stromtroopers. Hopefully they can protect the planet from the attempted imperial occupation.

No Peace for anyone!
Utapau

Farnun was still on the floor, groaning when the order came to board the Scarlet Vessel to confront Imperial TIE fighters. The scoundrel was still trying to mentally navigate the fact that, a whole shuttle had just exploded like an oversized grenade, nearly killing them all- or at least potentially so- since he was mostly unharmed, just rattled and disheveled, thanks to the two Jedi Masters who'd saved their skins.

How had the Empire found them so soon? It seemed impossible, yet it was so.

Farnun winced as he rolled onto his left shoulder, where he felt a sharp pinch. He must have landed more roughly than he imagined.

He groaned again, as he attempted to get up a second time and respond to the call to action.

“But, we haven’t….” He began to say, then went silent. No, they had not effected any repairs to the Scarlet Vessel from the last encounter, from which they'd barely escaped. Blaster Fire scoring and Vader’s handiwork were still evident upon the ship- but what choice did they have?

Farnun sighed and forced himself to his feet, liberally groaning as he did so.

Due to their current circumstances, the scoundrel would have to wait to apologize to Master Jahid, Force willing. In the meantime, he glanced around as he began to run to the Scarlet Vessel. He had a bit of a limp, but he quickly adjusted for it; His eyes were seeking out Safina. Upon finding her (unharmed, thank the Force!), he nodded at her, then bolted.

Farnun’s mind would transition into protector-mode, as all other concerns would melt away and only the mission would become his focus.

With speedy and conservative movement, he would get into the pilot’s seat and start the engines, all the while waiting for any confirmation that Safina was finally aboard.

Could the four of them and Air Force 4 Squadron really defend Utapau from the Empire?

It would seem they would soon find out.

IC: Gerald Starwalker

Gerald replied to the Trooper.

"Bring us out of hyperspace." he said and the entirety of Air Force 4 Squadron emerged in the sky's above Utapau. There it was Vaders stardestroyer. Gerald ordered that all fighters were to lanunced immediately. This is were Flacon Squadron are. Gerald then went to the surface himself. Upon landing, he saw hundreds of stormtroopers firing at something. When he saw what he was surprised to see two jedi. One was a green skinned Nutolan with a missing head tail. The other was Jedi Master Avinn Neir of the jedi council. Gerald jumped out of his jumped out of his shop and ignited both of his green bladed lightsabers. He joined the jedi in protecting the planet against the Empire. It felt good to fight alongside fellow jedi. He could sense another jedi. He didn't have time to wonder who. There were now four jedi fighting aginast the empire with 4 different Lightsaber colours, purple, yellow, one Herald didn't know as of yet, and his own 2 green lightsabers. Just then multiple beings started to fire upon the Stormtroopers it was unknown as they were obsurced in shadow.

Aboard the ISD Armageddon
Battle of Utapau

The Star Destroyer had exited hyperspace to a most welcome sight: A new battle to obliterate the Rebels!

"Inform Lord Vader that we are assisting the Executor by providing long range support and containment tactics. Launch our TIE squadrons and box-in those Rebel fighters."

"Yes, sir!"

The Moff's form loomed over the bridge, his hand once against stroking his beard as he looked over the initial battle reports.

For the moment, he would keep his own counsel and observe how the battle progressed, before making any sudden moves.

His target was here, the report confirmed it. He'd calculated the probabilities.

This time, there would be - No Escape.

IC: Safina
Utapau, on the run again



Safina twiddled her thumbs in the cockpit while they raced through hyperspace toward Utapau.

The roller coaster ride of emotions was coming to an end, and for Safina it was time to reflect upon what had happened, and what had been said. It was an almost comical awkward silence aboard the Scarlet Vessel. Farnun had taken out his blaster and was cleaning it. Avinn was saying no more on the subject.

Safina considered and dismissed dozens of conversation openings.

Then, too late, there were at their destination. Utapau. Safina craned her neck to stare out of the cockpit; it was always a thrill to encounter a new world.

And what a world! so different to anything she had seen before. As they entered atmosphere she spotted strange great lizard-like creatures scarpering across a varied rocky landscape. The sunken cities spoke of harsh storms on the surface, but Safina knew from her own homeworld, Mirial, that anyone who thought life could not thrive in a "desert", was mistaken. She looked forward to exploring further. Perhaps with Farnun?

As soon as they landed, however, Safina's thoughts were turned to a new presence. She knew he was here. Something had awakened inside after her ordeal on the Executioner, and it was getting stronger.

Together with Farnun, the lithe padawan dashed down the extended ramp of their landed ship after Master Avinn. and there he was, waiting for them. Tanal Jahid.

Safina's heart lifted and she grinned at Farnun. She wanted to race to the Nautolan, to make some show of affection, but Jedi etiquette prevented such things. She instead watched, grinning, as Avinn instead greeted his old friend. They traded words.

Safina turned to Farnun, standing beside her. They had not said one word to each other since that completely embarrassing statement from Master Avinn during the voyage, about their feelings for one another. Sooner or later, one of us is going to have to address this, she decided.

But the moment was stolen from her when the sky suddenly darkened. They looked up. Safina gasped. The horizon was full of TIE fighters and Imperial landing shuttles! Far above, the wedge-shaped silhouettes of Star Destroyers lurked like Kaminoan titansharks.

"The Empire is here! They found us!" Safina exclaimed the obvious.

It was all too much, too soon. "Didn't we just leave this party?" she muttered under her breath.

But then a new feeling fell across her mind like a cloying wet blanket - stifling her emotions and filling her with dread. She knew the presence.

"Vader... He's here..." she looked up. A tri-winged shuttle had left one of the destroyers and was descending. In her mind, Safina remembered the dire vision of the Dark Lord of the Sith launching toward her in the hangar of the Executor, blade extended for the kill. She shuddered with fear.

Master Avinn and Tanal had raced away from them, lightsabers ignited. Tanal yelled over his shoulder...

Safina turned and looked at the boy. "That's crazy! They can't take on the whole Empire! How will they escape?"

Escape is not his plan, Avinn's words returned to her, together with something else he had said; You do not yet understand your importance, Safina... you are the future of the Jedi.

She groaned with frustration at being unable to make any of her own decisions. Farnun was already turning to leave. Perhaps he showed more wisdom than her. My emotions are holding me back from what must be done, she realised. She raced after the scoundrel into the Scarlet Vessel - which was still pretty banged up from the last firefight.

He was already in the pilot seat cycling for a rapid take off.

Safina frowned. "You sure you can fly this thing alone?"

The way his hands danced over the controls was answer enough. She had to have faith in him. In the Force...

She nodded as if in answer to her own question. "OK, then. I'll take top gun again!"

The Mirialan Jedi sped away and scrambled up the now familiar ladder into the gunnery bubble as the starship leapt from its landing pad. She glanced down, sad to leave such a beautiful place.

A beautiful place turned into a warzone, again, she sighed.

No time for regrets! The battle was on! The Scarlet raced towards the stars, and a blizzard of TIE fighters converged towards them. Safina found a comms headset and put it on.

"So, err, you have a plan, right?"

A thought tugged at her heart-strings, of Avinn and Tanal down on the surface. Would they survive? Would she ever seen them again? Would she have a chance to save them? They were all questions for the future. Concentrate on the here and now, you must! the words of old Yoda spoke in her mind.

Safina focused and aimed her quadcannons as Farnun sought a path of escape between the closing enemy fighter squadrons...

IC: Tanal Jahid and Avinn Neir

Tanal and Avinn were only just holding up against the incoming fire from the empire. They then saw a fighter coming in and when it landed they saw some jump out and ignite two green lightsabers. The jedi were surprised by this and they proceeded. Just then a group of beings started to fire at the troopers as well.

"what the heck?" asked Tanal as he swung his purple bladed lightsaber towards the beings lighting up the area. They were clones. Tanal was concered but when his saber returned to his hand, he continued to block the oncoming fire.

The Landing Zone

The Imperial Shuttle landed at an LZ, two Tie Interceptors swooped down and dropped a hail of massive green bolts at a site nearby, causing balls of flame to rise into clouds of black smoke. Troopers in their white armor and helms held the LZ, some manning E-Webb turrents with their long black barrels blasting at what resisted.

The Resistance was native Pau’ans and Utai, both had been rather peaceful peoples, but since the Clone Wars had built strong warrior classes. The Pau’ans wielded left over CIS and Clone tech, one of which was a Spider Droid that they used its great red beam to take down landing craft, one white drop ship caught on fire and crashed outside the LZ. Two Wheeler Droids drove into the Imperial Ranks, the metal wheels grinding the white armor into mulch. It was a heroic defense.

Vader’s shuttle lowered its ramp and the Dark Lord and His Apprentice descended. His breaths echoed like the beating of a drum. Troopers made cheers, that Lord Vader had arrived to lead them.

An AT-STs walked, its massive legs stepping over JuDais like great metal cedars that rose into sky and the sound of creaking. It was war, something he knew from before, but this iron precision was new.

Vader approached an Officer in black with blue and red sqaures fixed like a pin to his left breast.

“Lord Vader, we are honored by your presence,”

Vader’s breaths replied.

“We have secured Sectors 3 and 7. But that Spider Droid is causing our aerial bombardment trouble.”

Vader titled his helm, his ruby eye shields reflecting blaster fire behind the Officer.

“Leave it to me.”

Vader began to march, JuDais joining his side.

“I thought we had seen the last of CIS Hellfires and Spiders when the war ended.”

Vader’s breaths continued to beat. His mind awash with memory. The Sith Lord recalled days long past, when he lead a similar force to smash the circuits of Separatist tech.

IC: Darth Nammed and Avinn Neir

Nammed had arrived at Utapau and he was impressed that the empire had engaged the rebels here in the air. Nammed took the her ship and landed it. She spotted three jedi in the distance putting up a fight against the incoming forces. One was her old master. Avinn Neir. This enraged the sith apprentice that her master had survived order 66, She unclipped her lightsaber from her black sith robes that billowed in the wind of this battle, and ignited a single blade. She then started the approach the three jedi masters while sending blaster bolts back into the shadows. Her red bladed lightsaber would be visabale amogest the Crowd. Avinn noticed the sith apperntice approaching him and shifted his attention to her, he did not know that it was his former padawan. The two then engaged eachother in lightsaber to lightsaber combat. It was jedi v sith, red v yellow. Master v padawan. The black hood on her robe hid Nammed's face from her former master. Avinn stroke down towards Nammed's left ankle, she however ignited her second blade and blocked Avinn's attack. Avinn also knew that Farnun and Safina were safe and out of the way of this new enemy. The two were equally matched. That's when Avinn force pushed Nammed backwards and she spoke to her former master.

"Why do you even try Master, the jedi order has fallen along with the Republic that we once served. This is the new galaxy, join me and together we can rule the galaxy." Nammed explained.

"What have become, Marlin?" Asked the jedi master and one of the last surviving member of the council.

"I have become, what you could not, Master." Replied the sith apprentice.

"This is not who you are, Marlin." Said Avinn

"It is now, Avinn" Said Nammed. The sith then threw her lightsaber at her former master. The lightsaber stroke him in the chest. Avinn's yellow bladed lightsaber deactivated and the former master fell to his knees.

"You see master, this is the way" Nammed said and she called her lightsaber back to her hand and Avinn fell to the floor. It was unclear as to weather he was dead. But Tanal, Safina and Gerald would feel a great shift in the force.

IC: Safina
Aboard the Scarlet Vessel, rebelling



Safina thumbed the triggers on the controls and ruby javelins sprayed from the quad guns, arcing through the upper atmosphere. TIE fighters screamed past, hurling their own emerald spears back at the Scarlet.

"Watch it, two more on our tail!" she yelled at Farnun through the ship's internal comlink. They were getting pummelled and Safina felt exposed up top in the bubble. But Farnun had not plotted the jump to hyperspace yet, even if they did slip through the net and make it to space. Her shots clipped an enemy fighter in the distance and it span out of control.

Safina grimaced. She was not really a starship gunner. The Padawan glanced down to the ground. A full scale battle was developing. Giant spider droids marched among the warriors, she recognised them from the Clone Wars. The arachnid automatons challenged Imperial walkers. The Pau’ans and Utai had counter-attacked with surprisingly effective forces.

They are really making a fight of it, she realised.

Tremors in the Force rippled up from the conflict far below. Safina distantly sensed Master Avinn and Master Jahid. The cloying dark cloak of Vader was down there, too. Safina shuddered. Then she shook her head.

I don't care what they say, I can't leave them behind. Not again.

The Mirialan teenager clicked the com. "Farnun, I need to get down on the ground. I... need to be in this battle. Once I'm out, you can take off or do whatever you want. Please, can you do this for me?"

It wrenched her heart to make this request. Her feelings for the rogue were deepening, but she could not possibly ask him to follow her into this battle.

It had to be his own choice.

IC: Farnun Venat
The Empire Strikes Back!

He piloted the Scarlet Vessel like a man possessed while Safina fired at their enemy from the top turret. They were barely surviving the encounter, for their enemies were not only plentiful, they were also persistent.

Farnun gave himself to his ‘luck’ and his instincts, which saved them on several passes by the skin of their teeth. Still, it felt wrong to leave the Jedi Masters on their own.

By the sounds of it, Safina agreed!!

"Farnun, I need to get down on the ground. I... need to be in this battle. Once I'm out, you can take off or do whatever you want. Please, can you do this for me?"

“What do you mean, take off!!??” Farnun began to object at the very notion that he should abandon the fight, but was cut short as he performed another desperate evasive maneuver, narrowly avoiding TIE fighter fire. The scoundrel flipped the Scarlet Vessel as if it were a much smaller ship and together with Safina, finished off the pair of TIE fighters before they turned about.

“I’m coming with you!!” He yelled back over the roar of combat.

Not waiting for a response, Farnun took the ship into a tight dive, adjusting his trajectory so Safina could pulverize the TIEs that gave pursuit.

“Get ready! I won’t land yet. I’ll open the ramp so you can jump out!!” He instructed.

The Scarlet Vessel decelerated once it reached the battle ground and hovered for a heartbeat. Farnun felt several shots glance the hull of the ship- which meant he needed to pull away as soon as Safina was clear.

“I’ll be back for you, I swear it!!” Farnun said, declaring an oath right there and then.

IC: Tanal Jahid

Tanal had watched Master Avinn Neir engage the new sith in combat and allowed him to do this alone, Tanal had been fighting alongside, Master Starwalker and many Clones left from the clone wars. It had been ages and now Tanal felt a disturbance in the force, as if the light side was dying. All sorts of alarms triggered at that moment all at the same time. He had seen the scarlet vessel head towards the ground battle so that meant that Safina and Farnun would soon be joining him. But Master Neir had not returned. Tanal deactivated his lightsaber and headed in the last direction he saw the former council member head in. That's when he found an old landing pad, one that didn't appear on any of the old blueprints. He found Avinn on the floor and the Sith was speaking to someone.

"Must be the master" Said Tanal. That's when the sith ended the transmission. She activated one blade of her saber and launched it at the jedi master. He had been discovered. He rolled out of the way just in time. The saber stroke exactly where he had been moments before. Tanal turned to face the sith appertince as she re-called her saber. Tanal instantly ignited his purple bladed lightsaber and launched himself at the sith. This is what being a Jedi is about, protecting the galaxy from the sith and all things similar. Red struck purple as the two fought it out on the platform. Tanal booted the sith back and she ignited her second blade. Tanal had never fought someone with two blades before. This was new to him. He remembered his training. He studied the sith's attacks as she struck. The sith then kicked the jedi master but he rolled into a backflip and landed on his feet, a move he liked to call the air whip. He had also seen his old master do it on more than one occasion. Tanal then force pushed the sith off the platform. She went down into the void below. Tanal then deactivated his lightsaber and ran to Avinn. Tanal held the jedi master in his arms. He was breathing but was struggling to do so. Tanal was not surprised considering he had a hole in his chest. Avinn was lucky to be alive, but for how much longer Tanal didn't know. Tanal then activated his homing beacon which, if The Scarlet vessel was working propally, Farnun should be able to track from the cockpit. Tanal knew that there were a few medical supplies on board. That's when Tanal felt a almighty wind and was surprised the scarlet vessel had arrived so quickly but when he turned it was the sith's starfighter and the sith was already in the air. Tanal ignited his lightsaber but the sith managed to knock it out of the Nutolan jedi's hand and slice the hilt in half. The Nutolan went flying and landing just on the edge of a pool of Avinn's blood which shone a bright blue. Tanal's own blood was also escaping Tanal's arm and mixing with the Neir's. Tanal then stood up and ignited Avinn's lightsaber. The sith was scared of this and fled. Leaving Tanal and a dying Avinn on the landing platform. Tanal also felt someone approaching the pad who it was he was unsure about who it was. He deactivated Avinn's saber and clipped it to his belt. He also picked up Avinn and awaited the arrival of the Scarlet vessel. He had sent a brief message when he had activated his beacon. This would read "This is jedi master Tanal Jahid, Jedi Master Avinn Neir is dying and he needs help now, Farnun if you are receiving this home in on my signal and pick us up and hurry, Master Neir doesn't have long I can feel the life in him draining by the second"

IC: Darth Vader
Battle of Utapau

Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, stood immobile; a black monolith, arms crossed against his chest. The battle raged across the surface of Utapau. Vader's breaths inhaled and exhaled like a grinding machine, slow but relentless.

Platoons of stormtroopers advanced, supported by stalking AT-STs. They were met with fierce bands of resistance, ragtag bands of natives. Old battle droids from the old wars deployed in support of the defenders. Fire, blood, anger and hatred were unleashed. The Dark Side of the Force swelled in sympathy.

It was all reflected in the blank mirrors of the Dark Lord's eye-sockets.

Vader reached out a hand, as if trying to grasp the sensations with his artificial limbs. Then the Apprentice emerged from the shadows by his side. She folded back the hood from her dark cloak, revealing skin as black as Mustafar coal and a shaved head. Yellow eyes shot through with red veins matched yellow teeth stained with blood.

"He is here," the Apprentice hissed in a startling whisper.

"Do what must be done," said Vader in response, and away stalked the Apprentice, Darth Nammed. Do what JuDais could not do, Vader thought.

His senses reached out, drinking in the pain and suffering of the battle. He briefly glimpsed the souls of the two old Jedi Masters, darkness closing in on them from all sides. They were joined by a third.

Then, a surprise.

The vessel with the Mirialan Padawan and her... companion... was returning. Vader watched from a distance as they set down briefly. Inhale... Exhale... the machine breaths echoed. Vader turned back to the shuttle. Three black-armoured Inquisitors disembarked.

"The Starbird is here. She has returned to aid Jahid and Avinn," said Vader.

"As I suspected, My Lord," said Grand Inquisitor Tremayne, the ruby-red augmetic eye gleaming. His tone was not proud, it contained as much emotion as a droid. "The Jedi's compassion is their weakness. And when we have her, Jahid will not resist further. He cannot tolerate hearing her screams."

"Do not let her slip from your grasp again," said Vader. "Bring her back alive."

IC: Safina
Battle of Utapau

Safina smiled, a bittersweet relief. She had wanted to her these words from Farnun, but also knew what a grave promise was being made. They might neither of them survive this battle.

She activated the disembarkation ramp and Farnun expertly slowed their descent until they were hovering just a few metres from the ground. Safina leapt, performing a pirouette before landing gracefully on the rocky ground. A pair of TIEs swept low from the horizon and pounded the Scarlet.

Safina heard the oath, shouted from the open cockpit screen. She saluted the handsome youth as he toggled the controls and span the vessel away from the incoming TIEs.

He certainly flies like a natural, she mused. And the way he shoots... almost like Jedi instincts...

Yeah, who am I kidding? she decided with a grim smile. I like him for more than his combat skills.

The battle raged. Blaster bolts whined like angry hornets across the rugged landscape. Laser beams blasted from above, like thunderbolts thrown down by the gods. Cyclopian mechanised walkers stomped amongst bands of desperate fighters.

Safina squinted, and spotted the glare of lightsabers through the fog of battle. There, the distinctive purple blade of Master Jahid. She also witnessed an unusual amber blade - that must be the unconventional Avinn. A pair of jade sabers she did not recognise. More Jedi? she wondered.

The Padawan set off at a run, leaping, spinning and diving between volleys of ruby arrows flung at her by packs of stormtroopers. Her azure blue blade span, batting away the red darts as she sped through the scattered boulders.

The whirling colours of her Masters' sabers were obscured for some moments by drifting clouds of cordite smoke. Pounding explosions punished Safina's ears and she halted to catch her breath, crouching behind the cover of a rock as big as a speeder. When she rose again she thought the other Jedi were retreating into the the centre of a landing pad - some surrounding beacon and sensor housings betrayed its purpose.

A shadow darted amongst them. Safina felt the touch of the Dark Side. A ruby blade ignited and span. Safina knew something bad was happening, and she opened her legs into a sprint once more, desperate to aid her masters in time.

She felt the tremor in the Force. One of the Masters had fallen. A voice crackled from her comlink, clipped to her belt.

"This is jedi master Tanal Jahid, Jedi Master Avinn Neir is dying and he needs help now, Farnun if you are receiving this home in on my signal and pick us up and hurry, Master Neir doesn't have long I can feel the life in him draining by the second"

Safina doubled her efforts, leaping from boulder to boulder, high above heads of surprised stormtroopers. The last hundred metres to the landing pad was open ground.

Then three black figures emerged from a drifting cloud of smoke, blocking her way.

Grand Inquisitor Tremayne held out a hand. His artificial eye beamed directly at her. Gripp and Onyxia tensed either side of him. A phalanx of hovering viper droids rose above his head, their nests of limbs twitching.

"Come now, child. Let us not make this difficult..."
