The morning found the group eating breakfast in the large sitting room. Sherina had knocked on the door bringing their hot steaming meal.

Palpatine had several durasheets and a datapad out reading them as he ate quietly.

Menaria came out of the refresher dressed and sat next to her Master who pushed a bowl of hot cereal toward her.

"Eat up, there's no telling when they will break for lunch...if they even will." He was ancy and not really looking forward to the negotiations. But he pushed his unease into the Force and set his mind on other matters at hand. Concentrate on the moment, Lin... He reminded himself. Don't worry about what is to come. Sighing he sipped on his hot tea.

Sherina was looking over Palpatine's shoulder and pointing out the topics that would be covered for today's meeting. "Mainly the introducing and laying out the claims it looks like." She said as she sipped on her own hot beverage.

"Yes...so I see." The politician mumbled. Sherina continued to go over a few more other details while Menaria ate her breakfast and Lindoro finished his tea.

Another knock at the door brought everyone out of his or her own personal musings and talks.

Menaria got up from her seat and opened the door.

Latas was talking with a white female Keliarian that was a little ways down the hall. The mewling sounds coming from the adopted son sounded strange to Menaria as she listened to the two exchanged a few words. She thought that perhaps they were saying good-byes. Only when she studied the female closer did she notice the smaller form hiding behind the female's legs.

It appeared to be a child. Menaria couldn't stop her eyebrows before they rose in surprise. The youth was not quite as furry and seemed to have only a thin layer of fur instead of the thickness that most of the Keliarians had. And the face...the child's face was almost human! Mr. Niox's? She looked back up at the adopted son and smiled.

Latas nodded once more at his mate, who in turned bowed a little to him before walking the rest of the way to the stairs leading down with the child in tow.

The youth had been watching Menaria curiously, blue eyes sparkling. Menaria had caught sight of fangs when the young one had smiled at her.

"Yes Padawan Darce that was my mate and my daughter. Is everyone ready?" Latas' voice was mellow as he observed the apprentice's reaction toward the female and child.

"Yes sir, please come in." Menaria smiled again and thought it best not to say anything about the two Keliarians except nod at the provided information.

Menaria stepped aside to allow the man to enter.

"Ahhh Latas! Is our ride here?" Palpatine asked as he stood up to greet the liaison for the Keliarians.

"Yes Senator, everything is ready. The delegates are arriving and things are in place." Latas nodded.

Menaria returned to her Master's side to take his and her dishes along with the Senator's to the small kitchenette. She would clean them later once they return for the day.

"Then let us go and begin these mediations." The Senator's smile was contagious as everyone left the quarters and headed for the waiting speeder outside.

The ride to the meeting was breathtaking to Menaria. It was only a few blocks away from where they were staying, but the city's life was in full bloom.

Lots of felinoids were meandering through the streets whether they were shopping or selling items the Padawan couldn't tell, but it was amazing! The bright clothes to the sweet scents of the bakery goods in the air.

The temperature seemed to be just right - not too chilly and not too warm. And the sky, to Menaria she thought she had never seen such a more beautiful shade of light purple. There were no clouds and a few long feathered birds glided on the upper breezes over the small shops they had just passed by.

"Look at that Menaria!" Lindoro motioned off to the opposite side of the street that she had been watching.

With the open top speeder, the wind was blowing only a little. They weren't able to go all that fast due

 

My Lin fix!!!!

Poor, Lin I can totally relate to him about the meetings. Good thing he has Menaria there to keep him in line! This is such a beatiful world, Kyn.

I bet that young Keliarian was fascinated by Menaria and I think that was returned! Looking forward to seeing how Lin fares

Read the chapter already last night, but I was sooo tired that I didn't have the energy to write a reply. (I was on a big LAN the night before )

Anyway.
I see, the negotiations are beginning. Might get interesting what Lin will do, or rather, how bored he will be . Menaria will be thrilled anyway, it's everything so new for her.
I'm looking forward for the next chapter.

And I'm gratulating for the awards !! I hope you'll get more in the future.

Bored? Lin? *snrk* For a man used to action...yeah he'll be bored all right. Poor guy, he can't help it that he hasn't done mediations in ages hehehe blame the Council!

Yep yep, Mena is gonna be soooo excited. But of course she'll contain it as a good Jedi should but she'll be listening to everything and more attentive than her Master. Though don't get me wrong, Lin is being attentive, juz not in the same way as Mena.

It was going on five hours and they had yet to take a break.

Sirachniz was bringing up some important points of the treaty dealing with acquiring of weapons and the rights to purchase them. It then slowly proceeded towards the outline of what exactly the treaty would consist of.

Lindoro?s face was serene as he looked on the delegates with interest, but in actuality he was not attentive to what was being said any longer. The white Keliarian?s voice was a dull rumble and relaxing in sound, too relaxing for the Jedi Knight.

Menaria on the other hand was listening to every detail. She clung to the information being provided as this was a completely new experience for her. The excitement of the newness was over riding any possible boredom.

The total relaxation coming off her Master puzzled her, as she looked at him from her peripheral vision. Is he almost asleep? Her jaw nearly dropped as she saw his eyes begin to slightly glaze over. How can I nudge him without startling him? Thin red eyebrows furrowed for a moment as she concentrated on their bond that they shared, slowly sending a burst of energy through it.

Lindoro?s thoughts had started drifting to one of the times he and his Master had gone on vacation together when suddenly a surge through the Force caused his eyes to clear and widen slightly.

Pure discipline kept him from reacting and he silently thanked the Force for those times on Nar Shaddaa where he had to mask his expressions. At least I learned some habits there worth keeping.

He sent his gratitude back through the training bond. It had only taken him a few seconds to realize what had happened. I nearly fell asleep. How ironic is that? He almost chuckled but stopped as he allowed the side of his mouth that was visible to his Padawan twist into a smirk.

In his peripheral vision he saw her eyes brightened and she echoed the sideways smirk.

Weynaz of the Southern Clan called for a break and the others agreed.

?We will reconvene in thirty standard minutes. If any are hungry, food can be eaten downstairs.? Sirachniz stated as he stood up.

Everybody then rose as well from their seats to follow the white Keliarian out.

Lindoro followed Palpatine with Menaria behind him. Latas and Sherina were discussing further plans for when they met back up in the conference room.

The majority of the delegates went downstairs into a vast room. It was obviously set up as for eating in for all kinds of aromas could be smelled as they entered.

Menaria?s stomach growled, as she looked at all the tables and chairs. There were plenty too choose from to sit in.

Lindoro automatically scanned the room for anything suspicious and reached out into the Force as well. Finding none, he walked toward the back of the room in order to keep everyone in sight.

Menaria followed looking at all the paintings and tapestries on the walls. Most were of sceneries, but there were a few depicting some history of the planet.

?Isn?t this great?? She asked as she stood next to him by the table at the back wall.

Lindoro saw Latas and Sherina head for the side wall that held the food and drinks.

?The artistry of their culture is amazing. Take a seat Padawan, I?ll get us something to eat.? He smiled and patted her shoulder.

Palpatine was still talking to Sirachniz as they too were heading for the left side of the room. There were trays of different foods. Some had mini-heating units under the trays to keep the food heated.

Lindoro chose several sandwiches and put them on a plate. He figured something quick would be the best and he then turned and headed back to the young girl.

?Thank you for that back there.? Lindoro whispered as he sat down next to Menaria.

?I did tell you that it has been a while. I didn?t expect to nearly fall asleep though!? He chuckled.

?It?s okay Master. I could not believe it either. It took a bit of concentration to not laugh, I am sorry Master.? She chuckled as she blushed a little with embarrassment.

Hehehe I couldn't resist that tidbit. I mean the guy had not attended meetings like this in over a decade. His 'meetings' the last ten years had always resulted either in loud bickering leading to fist fights or even settling issues with a blaster! hehehehe

LOL at Menaria stopping him falling asleep I don't blame him though. I've been to meetings like that! Palpatine's increased animosity towards Menaria is very worrying. Surely Lindoro will pick up on it soon?

Eeek! That had to suck for sure about not having internet there for a bit! I know I hate it when I don't have it. It hits me really now that I've discovered these boards! Let me tell you! I hardly ever did internet stuff until I stumbled upon theforce.net!! hehehe

Glad you liked that scene too I hardly have to work on the humor with these two, it seems to flow pretty easily! Surely these two are meant for each other as Master/Padawan!

Yep after a little more delegations something juz might arise!

I'll try to get the next bit out by middle of next week. Having some munchkin probs at the moment and haven't had time to 'muse' in the evenings. Hopefully my pup will start to behave and cooperate with me... kids sometimes! hehehehe

"Crawling" Linkin Park

The morning's routine was the same as yesterday's; breakfast and walking downstairs to catch their ride.

Menaria was excited once more as she hoped that the negotiations would go better than they had yesterday. Not that they didn't go to well, it just seemed that Gimlas was the only one at the talks that gave her the chills.

Glancing over at her Master while in their speeder, she notcied the scowl upon his face.

Lindoro's thoughts were of the schedule of events for the mediation that day. Perhaps the extra kaf I drank this morning will keep me from dozing off again...that was just not good.

"Don't worry Master, I'll nudge you again if you'd like me too." She whispered as her green eyes sparkled.

Blue eyes widened for a second before taking on their own glimmer of mischief. "I'd like that very much Padawan." A chuckle filled the speeder as it pulled in front of the building where they were holding the negotiations.

Palpatine sighed quietly to himself as he nodded his thanks to Latas for holding the door for him.

The traditional bowing was done as they greeted two security guards that escorted them into the building and upstairs into the room.

Sirachniz greeted them as well as the other clan representatives. Gimlas seemed a little less grumpy and Menaria couldn't help but exchange a slight smile with her Master.

The talks went on for a good four hours as they went over the line up of what would be covered that day. The word had been sent to the arms dealers informing them of the planet's agreement in ordering them to leave Keliar.

The other three hours dealt with how each clan would assist the other in need of medical, trading and/or selling of goods, and also in case of war.

Lindoro sighed with relief, as he sipped on some ale at their short lunch break. He had not dozed off yet and hoped to the Force that he would not this afternoon.

Menaria's enthusiasm literally seem to brighten the Master's mood as he tried not to be bored through out the rest of the meeting. The sandwiches he had were not setting well with his stomach and he had to draw upon the Force several times to quell the noises that his belly was wanting to make. If it isn't one thing it's another... he thought as he listened to the Keliarian Senator drone on about other political measures of maintaining peace. This time he had sense no deceit among the delegates.

The afternoon drug on as finally the white Keliarian drew the negotiations to a close.

"We will convene upon tomorrow morning at the same time. Once more, thank you for your time and patience and I hope your sleep stage fairs well this eve."

All exchanged the bows and left to leave the building.

"I don't know about you four, but I would really like to stretch my legs. That meeting lasted all too long for my tastes!" Palpatine grinned widely as he looked at the two Jedi. "Since the hotel isn't all that far, can we not just walk there this time?"

Lindoro opened his mouth to object, but then thought better of it. He is right about that

 

Wow... that was shocking somehow. Lin killed even kids?! That whole situation makes me want to hug Lin
And Palpy this evil -censored- keep Mena from comforting Lin

Arg! Let's strangle Stalon! *gets herself a dunk fork and torch and starts searching for other volunteers*

Is Stalon the guy from Menas dream? (Why do I always think about that?)

The past is just collapsing on Lin and what a way for Menaria to find out about this ordeal. And Palpy keeping her from comforting him, he is truly evil

He laughed harshly once more, the haunting sound echoing down the alley and into Lindoro's soul. These memories could just drive Lin further into the darkness. Menaria is going to have a big challenge ahead of her, because a dark calculating mind is pulling all the strings here
