Pretty sure there's a story behind that.

I have no idea but they made a definite point of having him wave goodbye to Rey and the Falcon with his now-golden-again arm.

"You're probably wondering where I got the red arm" -- Threepio.

    He was right.

I hope Finn has a sister he can rescue from the Empire at some point.

Probably because it wasn't very simple. We're going to get a whole comic about it, apparently.
    I suppose.

If they filmed a funeral for Han Solo but did not put it in the film, we should riot.

Or, you know, wait for the Blu-Rey Ray release in April.

so I saw it again and I'm gonna give this nitpicking thing a shot:

when the X-wings first attack Starkiller after the shields go down, we see Hux watching them attack the oscillator thing from some sort of command center or whatever. why didn't the X-wings blow that up before attacking the oscillator, when they have complete element of surprise? that might stop the weapon from firing, and even if not, it may delay it and buy more time, and prevent the immediate TIE response

also, I'm not sure how I feel about this whole "Anakin's lightsaber is Excalibur," mainly because nothing heroic has ever been done with it. it's mostly notable for slaughtering a bunch of kids. perhaps this is a flaw of the prequels, and Episode II should have been Anakin actually conquering some big bad and then III is his succumbing to the next one. but then as Lucas recently explained, Star Wars is actually about a family soap opera, not spaceships

but yeah I get this is just referring back to the original film and the "magic sword" trope that the lightsaber embodied before the mystery was stolen by the prequels

It killed Count Dooku didn't it?

::wistfully imagines a world in which Anakin, having discovered that Padmé is pregnant, submits his resignation from the Jedi Order to the Council, effective at war's end. Despite himself, Obi-Wan is happy for the young man, and in a moment of quiet, while the two discuss Anakin's plans, Anakin mentions that, one day, he hopes to pass his lightsaber on to his child.::

Albeit, the lightsaber now represents light and dark--which is good for TERRIFYING Rey.

I wonder if Disney ever considered retconning the Younglings into being the now-adult Inquisitors.

And that could still be the case! Most important to me, however, is that Obi-Wan's not just straight up lying. In fact, it would give his bothering to collect the weapon at all on Mustafar some poignancy, rather than just be kind of an odd thing to do.

I think it still works as a lie from Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan is thinking of the Anakin of his regrets versus the reality.

Obviously, in the Old Jedi Order, Luke never would have been a Jedi. He was too old and wouldn't have been given up by Anakin.

But Obi-Wan is playing "What if we hadn't had our heads stuck up our robes."

murdering count dooku in cold blood isn't heroic

also it was a half kill along with dooku's lightsaber given the scissor maneuver

It's almost as if the PT completely undermines the OT's storytelling. This is a shocking turn of events.

You mean "doesn't match what Obi-Wan said word for word."

I'm not a tremendous fan of looking at the Jedi as being dead wrong. After all: everything they said would happen to Anakin if he didn't stick to their teachings came true.

I prefer that, rather than a lie, it was actually honoring the wishes of his former friend before he was tragically murdered by Darth Vader.

No, I think he means that a lot of things in the original trilogy have a particular power to them because of their story significance, and that story significance gets undercut when they're ignored.
