It is a collection of dead seaside towns with zero investment, high drug problem, high rate of unemployment and a violent crime epidemic. People will be assaulted or stabbed in broad daylight.

Fun fact! Howard Stern -- yes, Howard Stern -- ran for governor of New York probably just under 25 years ago with one of his platform planks being "moving road construction to nights and weekends" rather than scheduled road repairs doing work during weekdays (which is even more terrible in NYC and the surrounding roadways). He withdrew from the race long before election, but people will be unsurprised to note that his proposal was extremely

Well, if anyone is in a position to do something about it, it's the Impossible Missions Force. Good luck to them.

    This post will self-destruct in 5, 4, 3...

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good Marxist thought about the relationship between socialism, communism and automation? I remember an intellectual (Italian?) who posited that capitalism trends towards reform to blunt it's edges (social democracy), as it progresses towards late-stage it trends toward democratic socialism, and that inevitably socialism will inherent the wide-scale automation which capitalism innovated. Part of his argument was that capitalism is an inherent stage essential for innovation.
