I'm excited for Andor season 2 but not much else. I'll probably watch Skeleton Crew when all the episodes are out. Still haven't seen Acolyte, not sure if I will at this point

Yeah. Acolyte’s a pretty short show, runtime-wise (and because Bazil). And even if you don’t love it as a narrative, there are worldbuilding and visual things in it that are fun.

I feel that The Acolyte is a real shame overall. The story itself, in my opinion, was terrible BUT I loved that we were in a totally new era (for live action). Had the show actually been good, it could have spawned a whole new bunch of stories that would have been fresh in an unexplored era for Star Wars tv. So much really rode on that show and it is just so sad that it ended up being so poor and even more poorly received. It did for high republic tv what Solo did for stand alone spin off movies. That is real tragedy of Darth Bazel the abomination.

So much truth, it really is a tragedy.

The High Republic era was our chance in getting fresh stories on screen, away from few jedi existing (or Jedi stuck in the Clone Wars), Imperials, Rebels, Clones, etc.......

Get to see Jedi in their prime......not having to worry about fighting the Sith. Centuries of untapped material that have not been covered by the books/comics.

Instead we are given a mediocre show that borrows elements from the Prequel Era.

    1. More Witches.....but not as cool as the Nightsisters.
    2. Special children born of no father.
    3. Jedi vs Sith.....but not as good and is limited because of the era. No way a Jedi can beat a Sith and live to tell the tale in this era. Either they die or fall to the darkside. Which makes the duels less appealing. Which is why Old Republic and also the Prequel era make better Jedi vs Sith duels.
    4. Teh Jedi are flawed theme but the Jedi even look worse then the Prequels. It's just so hard to believe that a Jedi committed suicide, especially in this era.
    5. Oh hey its Darth Plagueis. We could have seen the Sith prior to him...but no......we have to throw in a teaser of Palpatines Master. Really puts red flags on Oshas and Qimirs future.

With all that I said above.....it doesn't make the Acolyte really feel like its giving us fresh stories.

You know what is fresh stories for Tv? Stories of seeing the Jedi exploring the galaxy......expanding the frontier of the Republic. Building new outposts.....being a light upon the galaxy without a Galactic War or the Empire holding them back.

Which they kind of did in the flashback to not night sister planet that set it all off. That is the show I wanted and we got like one scene unfortunately. I loved the episodes of Visions where the Jedi were just going around helping people and even the Tales of The Jedi ep with younger Dooku and Qui-Gon, that was great and what I was hoping this show would be more like.

And you know what, if this Acolyte series had led to this in like seasons 6 or 7, it still could have actually almost worked (with some more logical story telling of course).

Well, yesterday Disney+ put out a trailer for the MCU Tv projects that will air next year.
    But
    What about Star Wars ?
They didn't make one like that or simply there's nothing to air next year :?

Andor S2 airs next year. You'll get a couple of trailers a few months before release and that's it.

McGregor did say recently that they also started talking about possibly doing a Kenobi Season 2, so that’s also on the table now as at least a possibility.

    What about it?
Just because something gets done for the MCU, doesn't mean everyone else needs to do it, too. The MCU runs on a completely different system than anyone else. The only connection is that both franchises are owned by Disney.

The MCU tends to have quite a few more shows per year than Star Wars, so they do something like that. They have like six shows or so for 2025, seven if you add the one that releases at christmas this year (no idea whether it will be done before the new year or not). Star Wars has Skeleton Crew coming out at the end of this year, and then Andor sometimes next year. Not enough projects to release a trailer about upcoming projects. Star Wars shows tend to follow the approach most shows take, which is one somewhat early teaser and then a trailer a month or so before release. TV-shows don't really have similar marketing schedule as movies do.

The situation is even funnier than that. Many MCU Disney+ shows for 2025 have been complete (and delayed) for a while now.

It's pretty likely they are trying to get all those shows out in 2025, so they can focus exclusively on an Avenger movie in 2026. After they release all the MCU shows in 2025, it seems the Avengers movie would be the only MCU project for 2026.

    Dear Dave Filoni,

You've mined some good Legends stuff in your tenure, my friend. Now please work out the logistics with the fine folks at Dark Horse and give us an epic, sprawling, 3 season-plus take on the OG Tales of the Jedi saga. Ulic Qel-Droma, Exar Kun, Nomi Sunrider and the rest of the gang are ripe for an awesome high-fantasy-meets-dystopian-tech-meets-space-cowboys wrapped in a non-apologetic Star Wars package. It has everything everyone is looking for in art and entertainment. To quote Sheev; DO IT.

    Love,
    Star Wars Fans from 1993-98

Personally I thought the Acolyte was great. Not perfect, but definitely in the upper half of the star wars shows made so far.

...but yeah that just makes it extra sad that it didn't do well and that is probably going to cause future star wars shows to double down on being safe and iconic and whatnot for at least a while. I guess one of the movies might open up more eras...but that is assuming they get made and are a success.
......come to think of it, I liked Solo too. Double curses.

And agreed, I would love a show, especially an animated one, about the Sith Wars, and wouldn't mind if they remixed some of the classic KOTOR/TOTJ stories and characters. Honestly, I would be ok with doing some time compression and making many of these characters peers rather than spreading them out over millennia though I recognize that is probably an unpopular opinion
