Nah, if GL had committed to making SW Underworld, by now the technology (including The Volume) would have made it possible to make it, without having to spend billions and billions. And it would have paid off.

The viewership for Andor season 2 dosent look good. Its same as season one and thats just above The Acolyte numbers. It dosent look good for any shows like Andor thats cost a heavy budget. Tony Gilroy talked about no shows like Andor will be happening.

You doomsay way too prematurely, Fred. Only three episodes out of twelve have been released so far. It's not worth considering the numbers until a month or so after the last episode airs.

We see if it keeps the numbers or go higher. If not i expect announced Darth Vader series to get the views.

Fred, where are you getting the numbers from? I just checked Nielson and the most recent posted numbers are for the week ending March 30th, so they don't include Andor yet.

I would only want more OT stuff, especially between ANH and ESB, if they did the original characters in animation or recast.

Otherwise they don’t have to show the OT cast. It’s a big galaxy. It was a big fight. So many stories can be told without the OT cast physically present.

It would be cool to see a series leading up to the Rebels establishing a base on Hoth. Something that portrays the actual war instead of the buildup to it. That would definitely interest me.

I suspect the numbers will get higher with Andor since the action is likely to increase, and some familiar elements like the Death Star may become involved.

I'm not sure Andor has to do huge numbers to influence LFL style moving forward. If it gets a strong critical responses (it has) and decent audience, it will like leave some kind of mark on the franchise.

I'm just not sure how large of a mark yet.

Viewership numbers are only one metric of success. The reputational benefits of a critically-acclaimed TV show can have long-term audience growing and thus financial benefits that aren’t captured by Nielsen ratings or whatever else measures just the most basic and immediate of things.

We may lose Gilroy after this show but Beau Willimon is staying on for the time being. He’s writing the Dawn of the Jedi movie so maybe they’ll also give him a TV show too.

How many times does it have to be repeated not to use samba tv for streaming numbers?
They do not have a good reputation at all, nor do they cover enough of the market to give a detailed view. They only track numbers from people whp have activel activated samba tv, which the large majority of people have not done.

The least one can do is wait for Nielsen numbers. They aren't the perfect way to measure things either, but they are vastly superior to samba tv.

Not that people have much of an idea what qualifies as good or bad when it comes to streaming numbers anyway, but that is an entirely different point. The Mandalorian is not the norm, it is a severe outlier, and Kenobi's success largely hinged on who it featured. The other shows didn't really have any draw of that magnitude available. Harping on about how shows don't match the numbers of those two is asinine. Especially when one considers that people tend to look at raw numbers without considering what they actually mean. Two shows with the exact same number of viewers will have a drastically different total if they happen to have different episode-lengths.

"Look at this damning viewership tracking* of how no one is watching Star Wars. The evidence is right there. Only 4 people watched it lol"

Not sure why anyone would expect the viewership for Andor season 2 to be impressive or even higher than season 1. Even though it is a great show at the same time it's not a very exciting show.

it has its fans and it's critical acclaim and that's all you should really expect from it. Making more shows like Andor is never going to become a thing. You are going to have to read books to find future Star Wars stories like Andor.

I'm a big fan of Andor but I completely understand why someone wouldn't be a big fan of it. Watching well written political dramas isn't what a lot of people turn on a Star Wars show to see.

Probably for many if they are going to watch a show like that they are going to watch a movie or tv show about World War II. Not a show set in a fairy tale universe.

I would say Andor isn't even like Game of Thrones. As Thrones shows have characters with a lot more personality.
