    Closes the basement door, locking it again.

    Well...hopefully that'll keep whatever is down there fed for the rest of the season. Whether it is what was there or that, way too curious, girl, if she ate it.

    A door creaked, breaking Adar’s concentration. He rose with a candle:

    There was a sound of footsteps.

    Adar opened the creaking door and looked down a hallway.

    In the shadows his candlelight caught sight of something darting across..
