I think engineer from Coruscant should be a new character altogether.

Depends on how important he will be to the Empire and from Corucant. For now im 90% on it being Director Krennic.

But he is not engineer... Or is he?

Edit: Ok appears he was engineer, until he became director of secret weapons project. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Republic_Corps_of_Engineers

Yet he shouldn't be doing anything on Aldhani at this time, Death Star Project is going on and Aldhani is not important to that that project unless something new is revealed. I think this is about the money, not yet about Death Star. But sure cannot be certain.

He was (see my edit) but is no more. He is now leading Death Star project under Tarkin as director of secret weapons research division (of imperial intelligence I think, not ISB). He shouldn't be on Aldhani doing engineering unless it somehow is connected to Death Star project. He is now above that sort of mundane work. But being engineer seems to be his background. I haven't read the catalyst so I didn't know.

Just the way they tease of this character coming. If not Krennic maybe one of his underlings. What happens on Aldhani might be important to the star dust project aka Death Star.

Interesting about Krennic being the engineer! I thought they referred to the one responsible for the project they are apparently undertaking (moving the air base to the valley, was it?) but it could be something else entirely, true enough.

Really liked the scenes with Dedra and her assistant. It's fantastic to get to see the humans behind the Empire, it's probably my favorite aspect of the series so far...

I think they said directly that the engineer was there to help build an airfield closer to the base.

People are letting their cameo brains take over, there is no reason the director of the death star project is going to fly all the way out to help with an extension for a backwater armory, especially since the death star is entering its final phases of construction.

Well they are teasing for two episodes and who it is. And Krennic would make sense as this is a prequel to where we see him.

    It's fun speculation.

Given how great the characters have been so far, I'm intrigued to see who this engineer is. There have been several mentions now. Perhaps it's the guy we see in the trailer?

    Anyway, here's hoping he's another well-written Imperial.

Yeah there's no need for it to be Krennic, I feel it would be shoe-horning the character in. Plus, a new well-written Imperial would make the GFFA a little bigger.

Would it be shoe horning in a character if it makes sense. Not saying it is him. Krennic is a character who fits perfectly into the world of Andor.

It would be fun if the engineer was the deputy director from the Thrawn novel. Forget his name.

Not if it makes sense - which is why I will defend Mando season 2 despite the complaints.

But Krennic being here makes no sense. That was the whole point of my post - there is no reason for the head of the most important imperial superweapon to come to a minor outpost for the construction of an airstrip. Do you you think the director of the Manhattan Project got called out to supervise building airbases in Alaska or on random Pacific island?

Krennic might fit into the show at some point, particularly in regards to the Coruscant scenes since we know he loves a good dinner party, but not here.

That is if the "airstrip" is all they are actually planning. A lowly grunt would hardly know what the Empire is really doing.

I wonder if the engineer is really all that important. The whole thing could be rather irrelevant to the heist, and we could never even see the engineer in the first place. I wouldn't call them mentioning that an engineer is coming teasing either. That would be assuming that everything characters say should give some grander meaning to the audience, which isn't the case. We obviously have a Star Destroyer arriving, so there is some importance to all this, but that could jut as well be about the act of engineering being important, not the engineer himself being someone we see much of.

I wonder if they will wait until last few episodes to go full on Rogue One connections.

True. They also "teased" a dinner party which seems to have happened between episodes.

A fair point. I suppose there might be something important to the death star being stored here, but then I would expect a bigger garrison.

The main thing I expect about the engineer is for him to be a complication. Like arriving with an escort that isn't under Lt Gorn's commando and so harder to get out of the way.

Wait, the star destroyer from the trailer is Aldhani? Huh, I remember thinking it was connected to the crashed ship on Kennari, but knowing that is pre-clone wars I suppose that wouldn't actually work. Given how restrained Andor has been with iconic imperial stuff, a star destroyer showing up is a very big deal.....hmmm....I will need to think this over.

I think so. It is a show that brags about not having gratuitous cameos, and Rogue One didn't imply that everyone knew each other before hand or anything. There are some that are inevitable like K2 showing up eventually, and I wouldn't be surprised if we got a brief appearance of Jyn when we first see Saw (I am not great with cameos, but I think this is around the time he abandoned her), but I don't think they are going to go out of their way to throw in Rogue One stuff just for the sake of having Rogue One stuff.

Are we sure about that? There are trailer scenes of Mon Mothma at a party we haven't seen yet.

Didn't they mention the payload is on rails?
Maybe this is the engineer that merely transports it a short distance onto the Rono freighter.

They were probably the best written of the episode imo, very believable characters, everything tracked.

I loved the line "He's an engineer. You can't charm him." Having known engineers, I can confirm. :)
