I heard that there will be a SW teaser trailer with this movie. I am excited to see it anyway. I haven't been disappointed by a Pixar feature yet!
I suggest (and I know I have suggested this, but I thought it deserved it's own thread if we are going to plan this) that we go as a group to the opening--or at least some time opening weekend.

    So, the questions are these:

    Who's interested?

When and how are tickets available?
--->Is Memphis anti-Fandango.com? Malco's website is lame, but if it is the best way...
--->As of now, it doesn't appear that tickets are available online--correct me if I am wrong, PLEASE!

    What theatre?
--->I suggested Malco Cordova (because it is close to my place), but I am open to suggestions, especially if it is someplace where you can order tickets online ahead of time.

Are we doing anything before or after?
--->tailgate, burgers at my place, trivia til the sun comes up, etc.?

    Do we dress up?

    What questions are we missing?

Can anyone confirm that this movie will have a SW trailer?

You're thinking along the same lines that Rhonda, Traci, and I are, Jacob! We were going to suggest the very same thing for Friday, November 5th.

From what Rhonda just told me, it appears that the ROTS trailer will appear before certain prints of The Incredibles. I'm sure Malco Cordova will have it because they had the last SW trailer before Monsters, Inc. and they did the digital thing for AOTC.

Also, I do want to see The Incredibles, and not just for the SW trailer beforehand.

As far as getting tickets beforehand, Muvico at Peabody Place is the only one I know of that does online sales. The only problem is that it's a major pain in the butt thanks to the fact that you have to trade in your online pass for a real ticket upon entering the theatre to see the film. (We discovered this after buying our AOTC tickets.) Also, the other total pain is parking downtown. I don't forsee a problem with getting tickets for The Incredibles at Cordova if we get there early enough, or go to a later showing.

    1. Online tickets - Malco does online tickets, but they have a service charge for each ticket. (Yipes!) When I got online tickets from Muvico, all I had to do was go to the ATM (Ato Ticket Machine) and swipe my credit card to get my tickets printed out. It was like a reservation, really.)

    2. Advance tickets - something cool that Malco does is offer to sell advance tickets at the theater 1 week ahead of time. So, starting on the 29th, I'm guessing, we can go buy out tickets at the Cordova, if we can agree on a time.

Let's go for door number two.

    No...wait...the box!

Let's do a 7:30 or 8 pm show if possible on Friday, November 5th. That way, everyone should have time to get away from work and school and make it to Cordova.

BTW- Everyone is cool with Cordova, right? We could do it or the Paradiso.

As I've said before, either one works fine for us. Probably be coming from work downtown (so Muvico works best ;) but then, I don't have to pay for parking...), so it's a toss-up between the North Loop and Poplar.

I imagine they will have shows every half hour or so, and as of the Wednesday before, the website will have the shows listed. So we can meet back here on the 3rd, and firm up the actual time between 7-8:30, and then be on our own to head to the chosen cinema and buy our tickets sometime between Wed and Friday.

I just went to Malco's website. The only info is it starts showing on the 5th. We should be able to get on the website on Wed. before the show starts on Fri. to verify times. Cordova sounds great. Fairly centralized and several good restaurants nearby. Anyone up for dinner and a show??? If anyone didn't know, all the Applebee's in town have shut down temporarily. There is still O'Charley's, Quiznos Subs, Abner's Chicken, and Sweet Peppers Deli (think McAlister's, but better). I did not suggest Outback on purpose because they will take to long and their food is not that good. (My personal opinion) If there are any takers, put up a post!

God, I hope we don't scare anybody when we all collectivly cheer at the end of the trailer!!!!

Are you inviting us to your home Jacob? You are brave... [face_mischief]

As for dinner at a resteraunt, I don't go anywhere without liquor. ;)

I dunno, that whole tailgate idea puts a smile on my face. I can see it now - all of us gathered around in the parking lot, wearking various SW and Pixar costumes and apparel while Tim grills hot dogs and brats over a Hibachi.... and the security guard keeps circling us wondering how dangeroues we are...

Rhonda said, "Are you inviting us to your home Jacob? You are brave... "
    Well...Ummmm...uh, yeah, I was...

Actually, if this ends up being a full-blown SMT event, then I can't. I live in a two-bedroom apartment.

Important note: If it did end up being a small event where everyone could fit in my living room, you would want to know that smoking and drinking is prohibited at my house.

On the other hand, if the weather is nice--the courtyard at my apartment complex has those box-style grills (like a the park) and picnic benches, if we wanted to do the tailgate party in a more comfortable setting.

As for eating out, Chili's, Quizno's, Sekisui, Corky's, a couple pizza and mexican places, and San Francisco Sourdough are all relatively close, in addition to those already mentioned.

We can talk about going somewhere afterwards. My house is the closest with the most room. But we'll see... ;)

And BTW - drinking is encouraged and applauded at my house. [face_laugh] Right, Tim?

You want the skinny.... I got the skinny....

I don't think dressing up in costume for this will be necessary. Let's save that for Episode III (for those who are interested.)

We can do the movie at Malco Cordova at the 7 pm show, then do dinner at Bonefish Grill at 9:15 pm. They take reservations, they're close to Malco Cordova, and they're a nice restaurant with good food. If you're interested in joining us for dinner, give me a shout so we can add you to the count for reservations. (Note: It's a nice, higher-end restaurant. You'd probably want to dress a little nicer than jeans and a T-shirt.)

I'll try to get with my father-in-law tomorrow. He gives golf lessons to both of the Lightmans (the fellows that own Malco). Maybe I can find out from them if the ROTS trailer is being shown before The Incredibles at Cordova.

I've never eaten there before. What type of food and price range are we talking about? As we'll probably be coming from downtown and I'll be getting off work, dress code shouldn't be a problem.

Check it out, Tim's got connections!

Joe: Bonefish is a bit more upscale than somewhere like O'Charley's or Chili's, but, with eating out, you're not going to escape from most restaurants for under $50 for dinner for two. I chose it for it's location, and for the fact that they take reservations, (which is extremely important when you have more than five people dining out in Memphis. Trust me, I know this: I have 25 people to worry about any time my family dines out for any occasion. Almost all of the restaurants in Memphis cannot accommodate larger groups without a major hassle.) I also chose it for it's menu and atmosphere. (I can't stand having Celine Dione screeching at me from overhead speakers as I'm trying to carry on a conversation.)

For more info, including their menu, check out The Bonefish Grill Website. There are no prices on the site, as I'm sure they vary by location, but I'm sure they're comparable to any standard steak and seafood place in the area.

The average price I think for an entree of fish or steak is in the $15 to $25 range. Sandwiches may be a little cheaper.

They make a killer martini and have a good wine list!

We'll make reservations for after the movie right, Tim? Let me know if you want me to handle or if you want to take care of it. I'm looking forward to it!! :)

Would you mind taking care of the reservations, Rhonda? I'll probably be enthralled with the haunt for the next week or so. I figure we'll do the 7 pm show and eat at about 9:15. We'll need a count by, say, Friday or Saturday for reservations.

Those joining us for dinner at Bonefish after the movie please chime in. We need to make reservations.
