The influence of Forbidden Planet on Star Wars/Star Trek

I recently dug out my widescreen VHS copy of FP, and gave it a another viewing. Its amazing to see how ahead of its time this film was, and how the premise of Star Trek is inspired by this film. Especially with the idea of interstellar space travel, and expedition crews, etc. There's even mention of lightspeed and hyperdrive capability onboard the spaceship. Even Robby The Robot mentioning that he is fluent in over 167 languages, is reminiscent of a goldon protocol droid. But what makes this film so amazing, even after almost 50 years since its original release, is its storyline, and plot twist. I hope Hollywood does not decide to remake this one day, leave this Sci Fi gem alone.
