My Week 10 is up. A retelling of a famous movie scene.

 

Every time I try and take out 100 words to get my story back under the word limit, it only seems to grow longer.

 

No problem, I've marked you down for the bye week! And I'm sorry to hear about your travel troubles; I hope things improve for you and that you're able to get your mom settled comfortably!

It was now or never, so, Week 10 is as done as it's going to be.

 

I'll see if I can bang something out tomorrow. If not, this was retroactively my bye week. (Unless somehow I get it done on Monday.) The prompt was so open-ended I thought it would be easy, but then Darth Real Life didn't give me any time to think of an idea to go on. Hopefully now that my homework's out of the way I can come up with something.

There are no new prompts this week, but we're not done with the Kessel Run yet! Just a few reminders:

• Your Week 10 fics are due tonight at 11:59pm EST
• If you took a bye week at any point during the Kessel Run, those stories are due one week from today: Monday, March 31st at 11:59pm EST
• Your final long vignettes are due Monday, April 7th at 11:59pm EST, so you have two weeks to finish those! You will post these vignettes during Week 12.

If you need a reminder of which week you need to make up for your bye week, let me know and I'll check my list.

Once again, here are the requirements for the long vignette:

Long vignette (2,000+ words)

• Write a story featuring an embedded narrative, also known as a “story within a story”. Maybe one of your characters tells the other characters a story, or watches a play, or discovers a diary containing some long-forgotten tale. All of these are examples of a story within a story, and they can be as simple or as complex as you want to make them. Click here for further details
  
• Word limit = minimum 2,000 words, no maximum limit
• Entries due Monday, April 7th at 11:59pm EST

It's about Marida reminiscing about her failed marriage to one Thorin Oakenshield and how she still hasn't told Owen that she was pregnant when she landed in the modern world but lost it shortly after.

Now on to my "bye" week, which will also be set in the Jurassic Park/World franchise and then on to the final vignette.

Edit: I just thought of something for the long vignette: Marida discovering her mother, Michaela's, diary. It was shortly after her death in a mining accident and before Thorin and Marida came up with the idea of the gala in Erebor to announce Thorin's courting of Marida.

 

That means it's...




My semester also finishes around the same date, so my life for the next two weeks will be a mix of this gif and "Don't cry for me, I'm already dead".
