Beyond - Legends The Last Thing (Karrde and Mara/Luke) for the MMM #9 Snark Challenge

This is for Monday Mush Mania for snark exchanges between friends, family members, or a couple.

When Karrde and Mara came across someone trying to peddle bogus Jedi artifacts, Karrde suggested they contact Luke Skywalker about it, get his input.

Even though the Smugglers' Alliance in the aftermath of the Thrawn crisis was a mere handful of months old, and Mara and Luke were no longer adversarial, contacting Luke was the last thing Mara wanted to do.

"Hmm." Karrde mused aloud. "What's the problem? It's merely a professional matter, unless you want it to be something else?" Karrde was an astute observer and he hadn't missed the undertones between the Jedi and his second in command.

"Ha! You're deluded, Karrde!" Mara shot back. "I'm totally indifferent to Master Skywalker."

"Then comm him, already."

"Just to get you off my afterburners," Mara said with a nonchalant shrug and did so.

Luke thanked her for the information and gave her and Karrde valuable ways to test the provenance of objects purported to be genuine Jedi artifacts.

"Looking forward to our next spar, Jade," Luke said. "Verbal and otherwise."

"Don't hold your breath, Skywalker." Mara answered, and he grinned.

Karrde just smirked.
