"Priests and Monks! Just sheep in shepherd's clothes! They practice their religion according to their own teachings. But we however, we are the true priests. We are the guardians of God's treasures, the keepers of his divine proof."
- Librarian Salucious of Corinth, A.D. 120

"It is a common misconception that people are good writers of fiction. This is, in fact, simply not the case. And we should be thankful for this misconception! Without it, we would not have been able to collect all that we have. It is such a fortunate thing that the truth can be so very fantastic."
- Librarian Herman Von Goetthban, A.D. 1760

"Modern Man is consumed with an age-old arrogance. Society thinks it is powerful because it can use nuclear weapons, travel in aircraft carriers, and unravel their own genes. And while impressive, this is but a shadow of the power that truly exists. Librarians are the responsible guardians of the powers of history, of legends, myths, and the divine. Without the Library, this world would be a very different place."
- Librarian Marion Mitchell, A.D. 2003

Among other things, libraries contain a multitude of stories...

And yours is about to begin. You don't know why they sent you the invitation. You must have something that they find valuable. But you have been offered a job at the New York Public Library. You can tell though... that is not a normal type of job. The invitation mentioned that the job would be very dangerous, and if accepted, would be a permanent position. But for whatever reason, you've chosen to accept the job. You've made the trip to New York City, and the library is due to open in one hour. Are you ready to go through with this? Because when you do, there is no turning back.

A humble start, for humble beginnings...

The Library is an adventure RPG of an academic sort. No fancy tricks here, just good old fashioned role playing. This first post is kept purposefully short, so as to keep surprises in the storyline.

A game runs on its players, and your sheet is below. I reserve the right to exercise quality control on whom I admit. Remember that your character had been chosen for a reason, and only good guys work for the library.

1.) Please keep things within the rules of these boards.
2.) Be respectful of all players in this game
3.) The GM is the ultimate say in this game
4.) PM all character sheets to the GM
5.) No Out-Of-Game comments please. If you want to talk to me, PM me.
6.) I will try to mix history and fiction as pleasantly as possible. To this end, historical accuracy may have to suffer.
7.) Be intelligent
8.) Enjoy yourself

* Thank you to TNT and their amazing movie, ?The Librarian?, from which this RPG is adapted.
