Most of it, but not all. I liked what I saw quite a bit though.

Me too. I saw the whole thing on 10 video cassettes, and enjoyed it very much. I liked the scale of it. I've also got that huge book that comes with it.

That's definitely a purchase I'll have to make someday when I have a chunk of change.

They're coming out on DVD this Feb / March. So you might want to check then.

I also loved "Gimme Some Truth", the documentary about Lennon's "Imagine" album.

Ooh, that's what I want - the DVDs. I hope they have even more features. Too bad my DVD player is a piece of junk, I'll have to get a new one before then.

I hope the "Real Love" clip is included. Have you seen that one?

I don't think so... but maybe... what's it like?

Just a lot of great little bits and pieces.

A white piano rising from the Mersey in Liverpool, great image, very symbolic. McCartney and Harrison hugging while recording "Real Love". Just the three of them in the studio again. I liked it a lot.

You do know the "Free As A Bird" one?

I'm not too sure, I only saw the anthology when it was first aired.

In "Free As A Bird", the camera "flew" (as a bird) over Liverpool, and everywhere you could see references to Beatles songs: Penny Lane, Help, I Am The Walrus, Eleanor Rigby. Beautiful clip.

    Check this.

Oh that is very cool. :D

I'm fairly certain that I did see that one.

I liked the song, too. Most people -- mainly critics -- hated it, but I liked the melancholy and the nostalgia of it.

Yeah, but nostalgia sure ain't what it used to be. ;) :p

No, I liked it too. :)

I can't think of a more tragic death that has happened in my lifetime than John Lennon's.

Me neither. That was just the most senseless thing that ever happened.

As a kid, I used to think he was killed near a certain parking lot in the city. I used to be frightened of that place.

Not at all, it was turning into a very sad topic... we could probably use a change of pace.

There are still a few spots left in the 8 am gauntlet :D

    Yeah.

    Oh, Tom, here's that image:

    [image=http://www.cavern-liverpool.co.uk/pianodrop.jpg]

Beautiful, isn't it? The Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, Lennon's white piano rising from the Mersey. I've been to that building, in fact, I could see it from my hotel window.

THAT Mersey, yes. I've been there. I've seen all those Beatles spots, and have even been in McCartney's 50s house, where many early Beatles songs were written. Quite fascinating.

    Sounds wonderful, Casper!

I have some bad news though. When the Beatles came to Brisbane they played at Festival Hall. This venue has been wonderful for Brisbane because it's right in the city centre and a perfect size for concerts. I've seen Radiohead, Massive Attack, Foo Fighters, Ben Folds Five and many other bands there, but they're about to tear it down and build.... apartments.

We fought for so long to keep it, but the Council was determined to push through some more residential housing.

So we lose one of the most famous Brisbane landmarks and get horrible liitle shoeboxes instead.
