Alright everyone lets move on. You want to talk about the election that's fine. But this is not the place to do do. We have a thread for that.

This thread is about the Mandalorian. So let's get back to talking about this episode.

Where was the other X-Wing pilot? There were 2 X-Wings in the shot outside the town...so while Teva was talking to Greef and Cara...where was he?

Initially I wasn't getting in to the episode, I thought it was just another action episode with Mando sorting out yet another problem. But as it progressed I'm not ashamed to say that the Imperial imagery and all the obvious links to the originals with the speeder bikes and TIEs just sucked me right in. To see the Imperial troop transport is still a really geek moment for me, I love that this show is able to realise elements of the EU and even toys and bring them to life.

I know that if whats being set up in this episode is all leading to the ST resurrection of Palpatine could be a sore point for fans, but it doesn't have to directly lead to that in this show. Yes it can be mentioned as an end goal but they don't have to show it. In the meantime they could have Gideon using it for his own ends. We know how the ST plays out so we can guess that his plans will probably be doomed to failure on a personal level, but we do know that ultimately the plans to bring back Palpatine will work. I'm interested to see how this pans out in this show because I don't believe this will be a straight line to Palpatine or Snoke, I think there will be twists along the way. Its like the Midichlorians, I can't stand that idea, but they used it in here and I see why they did. Its not something that can be ignored just because we don't like it as its part of the universe, just as the resurrection of Palpatine is.

The next episode Weathers directs, Greef will get his arm blown off but we'll be able to see his real one under his robes.

Mmm, changing the topic a little, I felt the female Imperial officer had a certain, I don't know, interesting vibe. Sure, she is cute, as someone branded her in another site´s review, but I did felt she had a charisma that will hopefully make her very useful as a recurring character. At least I would love to see more about her, and other imperials (kind of hoping to see Pershing again).

I'm happy that they are showing more female Imperials in live action too. It's a nice change tbh. I wonder if she will have a larger role in the future too or if we will see or hear about Rae Sloane for example in the Mandalorian. Especially if we are getting into the beginnings of the First Order.

I don't know if all this is leading up to their plan to resurrect Palpatine or not and I don't really care if it is or isn't. I'm just enjoying the journey we are on right now.

No, the real question is who is the actor so that we know who now has their own Star Wars figure?

Katy M. O'Brian is a martial artist as well as an actor. Given that she has been a series regular on a few popular shows I would guess that we will see a little bit more of her as one of Gideon's right hand persons and an adherent to the cause (whatever the New Era is.. The First Order??).

It looks like the laser trajectory plans for the Starkiller base. I took a still of Starkiller base firing the lasers and tried to turn it to match up with the image in chapter 12.

She had that cold, imposing professional exterior down pat. You get the feeling she's the kind of person who would make the "Close the doors!" guy pee his pants.

She might be a good take on the Piett-style military lieutenant for Gideon's Vader-style bad guy.

    HAHAHA I HOPE

Im ignoring it quite well, myself. I get your point. If the Sequel Trilogy story and characters felt even slightly natural to me as a SW fans in terms of the story progression post ROTJ, i'd have no problem buying in. There were things I didn't like about the prequels, albeit most of it was not story related, and I have no problem fully accepting those 3 films as canon. It felt natural in terms of how it led to the OT events story-wise. (The Sequel Trilogy actually breathed new life into the PT for me in that I went back and was able to appreciate so much more in regards to those films. The story, many of the characters and the heroes journey). Whereas the Sequel Trilogy just made no sense to me. And that first stems from the Empire basically still being everywhere. It just felt off seeing how much access they had to vehicular assets and numbers. After TFA, there were things about Han as a character they I felt were somewhat forced. But ultimately, I think I coulda bought in at TFA IF things had continued down a more solid path as the next two movies came about. Luke is really where everything fell apart for me. It didn't feel like Luke Skywalker. I really cant put it any other way. And people can change drastically, they can regress like Han did. But this time it felt so incredibly forced in terms of the end point by which the writer needed to get to for Luke as a character. and the story just lost me completely and I no longer felt in any way that what I was watching could possibly be a natural progression from the events that took place in the OT. And a huge part of this, I think, is that RJ had a really tough task, in that he had to explain why LUKE FREAKING SKYWALKER of all people would disappear for almost a decade whilst his sister, best friend, and the entire galaxy at large fell under the genocidal grasp of an Empirical regime. AND THIS is why I worry about the possibility of the Mandalorian having to mould their story to the events of the Sequel Trilogy. It would be unfortunate if the onus of explaining where Snoke came from and how Palps came back to life fell on the Mandalorian writers.

Really interesting! I thought she had this tough as nails, I´ll be efficient or die trying vibe that sounds quite right for a person ranking high in Gideon´s forces. There as been some great casting for the imperials in the last episodes, the Imperial Officer from episode 11 was pretty good too...

Speaking of women Imperials, I hope we see Rae Sloane in a live action setting.

I don’t know if there was an actress who’s likeness was used for mocap for Sloane’s appearance in squadrons but if there was she was good for the limited time she was present.

I agree with you two. She's describe herself as actor and martial arts specialist ( she's also a body builder):

Given the show's story of hiring female wrestlers ( Gina Carrano and Sasha Banks) for badassery and physical stunts, i don't think they casted this woman just to be Gideon's secretary. She's probably gonna see heavy action against the Mandalorians and Cara Dune.

I found her highly impressive in just those short moments. She made an immediate impression and her acting was impeccable. Visibly and obviously better than Carano and Banks, I have to say. Though after a third viewing run, I’ve started to warm to all the actors, despite some acting flaws. This show just has such a great spirit.
