Things above that would instantly make this my favorite Disney SW movie:
    1. [too small for the big screen] ✔️
    2. [a condensed version of a full season and therefore too bloated for the big screen] ✔️
    3. [a complete stand alone adventure with too little connective tissue to the rest of SW] ✔️
    4. [relying too much on the audience having seen the TV show] ✔️
    5. [just a stepping stone towards Filoni's movie] ✔️
    6. [a complete 1:1 remake of the classic 2008 theatrical TCW release somehow] ✔️
    7. [just Kathleen Kennedy pointing and laughing at the camera for 136 minutes. Maybe she'll have hooves and a pitchfork] ❌

Maybe the involvement of the Hutts points to how the criminal underworld figures into the larger galactic conflict. That could be a substantial contribution building to Filoni's film.

This movie probably sets up the criminal Underworld and Imperial remnants as the two big factions against The New Republic

Right, because the Hutts, Pykes, and Crimson Dawn are all one big happy family.

Actually soon before ROTJ, Crimson Dawn ceases to exist. So its just The Hutts and The Pykes. Maybe The Blacksun cartel if Filoni likes to bring them back since The Clone Wars show.

To me, it's going to be whether or not Din and Grogu have a story worth talking about, along with any of the supporting characters, on a personal level.

We've seen both smaller and larger adventures that did that, and were great... and we've seen smaller and larger adventures that didn’t do that, that weren't.

Season 2's finale was the largest scale conflict up to that time in the show, and set the internet on fire with positive speculation and excitement for *all* the characters, just like how The Believer has a glorified internet search as a premise, but was amazing and made a guest star "normie" character an exciting prospect for a return and marked the moment Din valued his son more than his religious beliefs.

Season 3's finale was the largest scale conflict in the series, and was barely worth talking about afterwards, and actually ranks very low on the entire show's list of episodes - arguably right next to the Jack Black episode, where I'm of ironically the opposite opinion of most critics, and find the robot planet tolerable while finding the Mandalorian epilogue unacceptably abbreviated and worthless for Din, or even Bo-Katan as the de facto season protagonist,

Literally just having Din ask awkward questions that Season 3 dodged (“Who were the Death Watch?”/“I’ve heard about these New Mandalorians and I want to know why their leader has your last name, Bo…”/“Who were the Protectors and the ISC?”) would make any plot feel more movie-worthy to me than just any huge monster or battle scene… it’s just a huge monster being used *well* for that story (like the Mythosaur) or a big battle used well with that story (…especially any Mando vs Mando conflicts) would probably be of a mutual benefit to both spectacle and dramatic intimacy.

In theory, the Hutt Cartels are supposed to start to break apart around this time as their slaves gain their freedom before TFA. That was what I thought they might do with TBOBF.

Sigourney Weaver is playing a New Republic colonel named Bishop according to Jeff Sneider. Sneider also says Favreau was sick with Covid for a few weeks and directed remotely with help from assistant director Kim Richards, Peter Ramsey and Dave Filoni.

Also from Snejder: Jon Favreau had COVID during a month of shooting the Mando / Grogu film, so thats the reason he was directing from home. Yes, sometimes negative rumours need a bit of context.

Shocking that the overreaction was completely overblown for what ended up being a complete non-issue. I'm shocked.

I confess I really liked the idea of her playing an imperial warlord and am a bit disappointed with this. Ah well, that is the problem with getting to into rumors and speculation.
