I wouldn't worry about the future of Star Wars anytime soon for a variety of reasons. One big one to think about is that a huge part of Disney's revenue comes from their theme parks, and now that they're building Galaxy's Edge, they're going to be producing more Star Wars content if nothing but as advertising for that. So Star Wars isn't in trouble for a lot of reasons, but that should allay your worries a bit.

Pretty cool that both of the first live-action series are led by a Latino man.

 

So if Pedro Pascal is just entering negotiations now, who the hell was the person in the photo in the Mando gear? Not the Mandalorian? Or just random stuntperson? Or he doesn't get his gear back in the 1st ep and someone is running around in it.

Maybe Pascal's character kills The Mandalorian (seen in the first look photo) and then takes his gear and becomes "The Mandalorian". Hijinks ensue.

"Perhaps I killed a Jedi and took it from him!" etc. etc.

 

It is. Both should get some positive attention from these.

 

Could just be a test shot of the costume.

Or could be that the character in that photo is a Mandalorian but not the Mandalorian.

Most likely the former.

 

Yeah, I figure it was just a stuntman in the costume.

 

No mention here of the Gina Carano casting, yet? She's great, and as a former MMA fighter I think it's safe to say she'll be in an action scene or two...

 

Soooooo... I suppose it would be in poor taste if they put Pedro Pascal's character in one of those typical Star Wars arena battles, huh?

 

Only if it's the series finale! Hell, bring in that Mountain guy again.

Oh, also poor taste if he has any interactions with Mt. Sorrow, especially negative ones. They really wrote themselves into a hole with this casting. Can't do arena fights, can't fight Mt. Sorrow.

It'll be a mind-blowing experience for him, that's for sure.

Gina Carano huh? Can't say she's much of an actress but definitely fits the Mandalorian style

 

That obvious huh? At this point like a third of why I have yet to watch it is cause I love seeing people's reaction. GoT is bordering on mandatory cultural literacy among geeks it seems. So I assume he played a character in GOT who got killed in an arena or something? I just assume any given GoT character is dead.

Why do I get the sense that is a reference to something literal from the series? Knowing my luck and squeamishness with ocular trauma I assume yes.

I can just imagine the shear number of references over the years that I have missed that will suddenly make so much sense. That's always the best thing about getting into something everyone loves, way after it has already become super popular or is even done. You suddenly connect a bunch of dots

 

I haven’t watched GoT either, so all those references go over my head too.

 

I watched the first season and read the first book. Wasn't my bag. It felt like a lot of little things were happening but that the overarching story was not at all advancing.

 

If they're going to continue to draw from the GoT cast....Stephen Dillane would make a fine addition...get Stannis on the bridge of a Star Destroyer.

 

If we get Stannis make him the shows main villain as on of the last warlords. Maybe we could get him joining the first order after the other warlords is taken down and trough him we could see the orgins of the first order. Snoke could come up in this show maybe not in 1st season but later seasons.

 

I just watched Prospect, the first 1970s-inspired space western starring Pedro Pascal as an amoral space-suited mercenary. I wonder if it had any role in him getting The Mandalorian. Also of note, Chris Weitz was one of the producers.
