Mangold's like a million bazillion times better than anyone who's directed any SW stuff bar Lucas so far. I'll fight you.

Rodriguez is also the man. Alita haters be damned.

Seven so far, assuming the series is another eight episodes they’ll add one more or have someone double up. The F names are the only ones I could see getting two. Or Taika comes back for the finale again. Wish is was Chow again, especially with the Obi Wan delay.

Not delighted to see BDH back, as I think Chapter 4 was by far the most poorly directed of the season. Wish they’d just give Famuyiwa extra episodes now that Chow is focused on Obi-wan. He and Chow were unequivocally the best directors in season one, followed by Taika.

 

I say give her another shot. i thought her episode was good. and her new one probaly be better. same with Filoni if he directs another one.

 

*Whispers* Just have Mangold & Rodriguez do it all.

Nah, everyone did a great job in season 1. Still, gotta capitalize on that Mangold & Rodriguez goodness, never would have pegged them as joining the team. That's beyond a best-news-possible situation, so damn cool.

 

next season have RJ do an episode see how they love or hate him still.

 

Johnson'd totally be suited to/worthy of getting a Mando or Cassian episode or two or three, absolutely. Bring it on.

 

he probaly be suited for a cassian show, with it being a spy thriller and he could make twist and turns. I love if he got a yoda episode to do on mando and give us force story.

 

I have no problem with his direction; I think the writing and/or editing caused the problems with TLJ.

 

I'd like to see Jon Cassar direct an episode to see what he'd do with it.

 

Isn't he busy with rebooting 24 or something.

 

Well maybe if Favreau calls him... I mean he picked up the phone for Seth MacFarlene.

 

yeah maybe i could see him directing an episode, sure. But is he fan i wonder.

 

I think Chapter 5 is poorly written as well, and a little stilted. Filoni has a lot to learn about live action. But I find the direction in 4 - as judged from the camerawork and the acting - to be the least impressive. It’s just so basic. Only part that’s visually interesting is the T-Rex AT-AT in the woods. The battle afterwards was also really awkward and stilted - a generic fantasy battle with boring action and an odd, unbelievable dynamic with the AT-AT and Cara Dune face-off. That said, maybe she and Filoni will have learned a thing or two from Chow and Famuyiwa.

 

I saw a theory that pointed out the problems with Chapter 5's writing came from Filoni borrowing the entire idea from TCW's uncompleted unused Boba Fett/ Cad Bane/ Bounty Hunters arc. There are some notable similarities between Chapter 5 and points in that arc. It just doesn't work to take what would have been a 4 episode arc with lots of time for plot and squash it down to 44 minutes of funny antics that square peg Mando, Baby Yoda, and new characters into the roles of Cad Bane, Boba Fett, and other familiar characters I already have several seasons of investment in. If that's the case hopefully the lesson has been learned to not borrow from any of those unused arcs.

 

But Favreau didn't direct any episodes first season did he???

EDIT: Just read that Favreau confirmed he is directing at least one episode next season. Sorry my bad.
