It really isn't. It's an indication of which of those media outlets has more penetration at the point of comparison, keeping in mind that neither actually has majority outreach.

How on Earth do newspaper sales give a more accurate representation of the ideological break down of a city than actual election results with 90%+ turn out? Have you considered that the demographics who buy newspapers now are more likely to be conservative and reactionary?

Judging the prevalence of political views by the popularity of newspapers in 2020 is like judging the popularity of bands by the sales of vinyl albums.

Be careful with "misinformation". (Why am I defending a propaganda network) Fox connects with the lived experience of a certain percentage of the American population. The misinformation can get mixed in with that, but it fits in around these people's truth. The question has to be asked, why can't other networks make the same connection with that part of the population? These people aren't stupid.

It isn't particularly complicated. People harbour inbuilt prejudices and biases and a preference for the world to be a certain way. News corp simply plays into that by spinning a narrative which people 'like' to believe.

Bluntly, because the target audiences are different, and one media uses the other's target audiences as designated enemies instead of as sources of revenue.

And yes, these people are stupid. It's something you must always keep in mind without ever actually saying it when you're selling a message: people are stupid.

I’d love an electric, if the mainstream auto makers would hurry up and build one. My Honda accord is great, and I’d love a Tesla, but I’m not about to spend $80,000-$100,000 on a car.

    Peace with the Taliban?

If the Taliban fulfills its commitments to renounce al Qaeda and begin intra-Afghan talks, the U.S. agreed to a complete withdrawal of all remaining American forces from Afghanistan within 10 months. The U.S. also agreed to immediately facilitate a controversial prisoner exchange, under which up to 5,000 Taliban prisoners held by the Afghan government could be released. The Taliban would free as many as 1,000 prisoners, as demanded by the Afghan government.

Trump said he expected withdrawals to begin immediately.

"If bad things happen, we’ll go back," Trump said. "We'll go back with a force like nobody’s ever seen."

Bull****. He's not lifting a finger to help.

"Declare victory and leave" dates back to Vietnam, and almost always has the same consequences. This is a campaign-trail stunt for his base, nothing more.

Well, everything this guy does is a campaign-trail stunt. And I mean, everything.

enormous explosion at a port in beirut. reports are claiming it was due to a fire in a fireworks depot, either located on a ship in the port or a warehouse. footage is scary.

Was thinking something similar as CNN showed the explosion footage. I think there were probably things other than fireworks in that building.

Every big explosion looks like that. It could be just fireworks. Example from 2015:

No way that's just fireworks. Looks like ordinance or at least something highly combustible. Not nuclear, though--no flash when the explosion went off.
