honestly hadn't been a big Manny fan since he has come over. He just seems to do a lot of damage when the game isn't on the line. Didn't see any dirty play prior to the playoffs though.
Really been puzzled all the Yankee fans that have been posting for the past few months that he's coming there. Don't you already have home runs? Don't you need some contact hitters and some Starting Pitching??

the royals went to back-to-back WS, and won a championship with mediocre starting pitching, decent hitting, and an otherworldly bullpen.

milwaukee can absolutely do the same.

As an outsider (no preference in either team), I'd much prefer Scully's voice on the broadcast when I do tune into the NLCS games than Joe Buck. I'd imagine everyone would.

Right now the immediate concern has been who would replace Gregorius in the lineup; since he'll be out most of next season. I'd be far more interested in a quality left-handed bat than Machado. We really don't need him at all.

I'm not saying Milwaukee (or LA for that matter) can't win a Championship against either Boston or Houston; but I wouldn't put too much money on it.

I always just point to the 1990 World Series on what a hot bullpen and some timely hitting can do in the postseason even with some mediocre starters. The Oakland A's were by far the best team in baseball that year but when it came to the World Series, they got clobbered by the Reds and the Nasty Boys.

Craig Counsell is a jackass; what’ll be more annoying, though, will be those lauding this “brilliant” chess move. :p

Ya know, watching the series, I found myself rooting for the Dodgers. Probably because of two things. One, they're a Cali team and Two, Peter Gruber, part owner of the Golden State Warriors is also part owner of the Dodgers. Which means I have just jinx the Dodgers. Sorry, Tunes. :p

Today is the the 29th anniversary of the 89 World Series that was disrupted by the earthquake. I was living in San Jose at the time and there wasn't any noticeable damage when the quake hit, except power going out in certain areas. I was driving home from high school and stopped at red light when the earthquake struck. I thought the car behind me rear ended me.

I mean he took advantage of an overloaded righty lineup and gets to save Miley for an elimination game. It's a great move no matter what.

What I've noticed more than anything else this postseason is just how long the commercial breaks are compared to the regular season. I know they shortened the breaks during the regular season this year for pace of play issues. But pace of play is an issue during the postseason, too.

    Amazing.

    Current mood...

Loved the small ball approach, and Kershaw pitching a gem; also, Puig’s enthusiasm!

It’s going to be a hell of a cauldron in Milwaukee in 48-hours, but despite it all (all those strikeouts/bad at-bats earlier in this series), this Dodger team can overcome that. Got great faith in Ryu. The nerves! The excitement!

I don't understand how that's not a home run. I also don't understand how they have dozens of cameras but none on the walls to catch these boundary calls.

Edit: Hey they do have a camera on the wall. It just didn't catch anything.

What this really looks like is another case of Joe West screwing up, good thing they keep giving him postseason jobs.

    Amazing.

The bottom line is that even though it's been over two decades; MLB is still embarrassed by the Jeffrey Maier incident. My guess is more often than not they'll be ruling in favor of those not being a home run.

I just wonder if those fans that were involved were ahem...kindly escorted...out of the ballpark.

Yeah I didn't get that. I thought those security guards are supposed to face the other direction throughout the game (the stands).

I don't know, I think Betts had a really good shot at making that catch. But the issue was the fan literally knocking Betts's glove out of the way, not the ball's trajectory, I think it's the only call that West could have made.

Only if the fans reached over the wall. If the ball is over the wall, there's no such thing as fan interference. It sure looked like it was out on the original angle, would have been nice to have the side angle. Either way, I think it's always safe to assume Joe West was wrong.

    Amazing.

I'm leaning towards they got the call right, looked to me like the fan who hit his glove had his hands just over the wall....though B makes a solid argument about Joe West.

Yeah, that’s right; a common baseball addage. Pains me to say, given the team it would have helped, but it still should have been a home run; looked like his hands were just behind the wall.
