The Muppets (Kermit, etc) include Sesame Street characters but are now owned by Disney. Children's Workshop owns Sesame Street.

IIRC, Children's Workshop can still use the term "Muppet". For what they still own (Fraggle Rock, etc), the Jim Henson Company cannot.

On "Sesame Street", the Muppets are referred to as the Monsters. The Muppet term is mainly used behind the scenes. Kermit is the only one who guest stars on SS due to Jim Henson deciding to use him for the Muppet Newsflash segments during the 70's and 80's. The Fraggles were never referred as Muppets on the show, but we all know that's what they are.

So Guy Smiley, Big Bird, Ernie, Bert etc are "monsters"?

I'm certain they're never addressed as Muppets on the show. Only by their names. In merchandising, yes. Granted, I haven't watched in years, but when I did, I don't recall them being called Muppets on the show. Newer characters are stated to not be Muppets, according to Wikipedia.

HBO is funding "Sesame Street", so it won't hurt too much.

    Muppets Tonight?

I'm saying bring back the original concept set in the theatre, hosted by Kirmit.

I think 25 years, or 40 if you're considering the original show, is long enough to try again.

I loved the Muppets sitcom style show from 2015 it debuted when I just moved to my new house/state in Florida! I absolutely loved it! would love a new theatrical movie by the same movie making team that brought us Muppets 2011 and Muppets Most Wanted I loved those two saw them both in empty theaters. I don't get why more people didn't see these two in the theater they were epic as hell!!!!!!!

I went last Saturday (I live about...2 minutes from the museum), part of the first group to go through! It's a really wonderful exhibit, made me feel all sorts of nostalgic and happy. There's some fun interactive stuff in there too.

dp suck it up and make the trip

If ever I won one of those "See any concert in the world" type radio contests, this is what I would go see. Or Tom Petty.
