I think he was scripted to say that. It's also possible that his scenes hadn't been filmed at that point so he wasn't even fully aware of what his role might be in the final film.

 

Palpatine's survival will be revealed, even the leaks hints at that. I have no doubts.

 

That's true but if she doesn't want to answer something, she and the other actors have been taught to evade answers. She answered this point blank though so I believe her and John.

If her last name isn't Palpatine, Skywalker, or Solo, I hope they do reveal what it is.

 

I mean the twist could be: Rey is her last name. Kira is her first name....
