Welcome back to the Non-Force Users / Muggle Draft!

After succesfully rebooting the Jedi Draft, we're back for the next logical phase: the same thing, but with a completely different set of characters.

I'm not going to give you the normal long-winded speech about drafts. if you want that, check another thread. I'll link a few examples below. But basically, in this game, you'll be drafting (think fantasy football and similar) non-force sensitive characters, and then arguing about who wins. You can draft Jar Jar Binks. You can draft Mon Mothma. You can draft Han Solo. You can draft C-3P0. You can draft Elan Sleazebaggano. You can draft Shimrra Jamaane. You can draft a trio of porgs, one of whom is already roasted. No, really, there are a ton of possibilities here. The galaxy far far away is your oyster!

If you're wondering how it all works ...

I broke it down at a five-year old level here:

tl;dr
Step 1: Sign up
Step 2: Take turns picking any character you want from Star Wars as long as they don't use the Force
Step 3: Follow instructions to submit "numbers"
Step 4: Get judged
Step 5: repeat steps 3&4 until we have a winner
Step 6: Celebrate (if you won), Cry (if you are heels)

Petition to ban Grievous since he’s a team killer, and have him exclusively in the Jedi Draft.

Also, do Pre Vizsla, Din Djarin, Bo-Katan and Gideon all have the Darksaber??

And how do we feel about the Spark Eternal? No connection to the Force, so…

 

Grievous is not a team killer, IMO. There are plenty of individuals I put over him, let alone high level trumps and cohesive teams.

I'll be posting prep rules here in a bit because I do want to use prep in this draft. But to me the Darksaber is there for anyone who has used it multiple times and started multiple battles with it. That's my delineation. If you used it once or twice because someone else brought it? I don't wanna see you argue the character gets it. But if there are a few examples of them bringing the weapon to battle and using it - go for it.

Alright, so let's talk about Prep and Weapons

For weapons, this is how I view what your characters get in all standard battles: their normal weapons they can carry on them that they have been seen to bring to battle on multiple occasions. If they have used a weapon once or twice (example: Han Solo and a lightsaber, Han Solo and Chewie's Bowcaster) it wouldn't count, and if they have only used a weapon type after finding it during a battle, it wouldn't count. Nothing that has any level of sentience (e.g. any kind of droid) would count as a weapon. When making arguments, I would encourage GMs to think about offering up to the judges any call out on specific weapons you think your character would get to help them win (and I would expect the judges to pushback on any nonsense claims).

Now for prep time. This is an optional strategy, but one that I would recommend using. For each round, when submitting numbers, you can designate two individual characters or one trump (I'll allow it even if you put three or more characters into the trump) prep time. What does Prep Time do? It gives your character(s) 24 hours to get ready for the battle. This is a fictional 24 hours where they do not get tired or fatigued and can literally work/research the entire time with no negative impacts. To begin, they get a datapad that is connected to Wookiepedia, and the name(s) of any opponents and allies in the match. They also get a credit card with unlimited funding to the GFFA version of the Wile E Coyote / Acme store and a trunk - say six feet by four feet by four feet - to fill with items they order from Acme to bring with them. Given the life or death nature of these battles, they probably don't want to bring weapons they have no experience with and no idea how to use, but hey - you argue your way! They will arrive on the battlefield five minutes before the battle starts, but cannot do anything to alter the battlefield, lay traps, etc. The most they could do is get a weapon or two out of their trunk and possibly find a place to hide.

For team battles the entire team will be given that twenty four hours to prep. As such, when you submit numbers, you will need to designate one member of your team as the captain. The Captain is the character who will get the datapad initially and the ultimate say over what weapons and other accoutrement get ordered and put into the trunk to take to the battle field.

So, when I call #1, Jar Jar Binks well get that data pad and that full day to prepare to try to kill Bossk. sey might try to convince the judges that Jar Jar is going to bring a shield generator, and a bunch of boomas. When I call #5, Jango Fett and Boba Fett will each get a datapad, and be able to work together to think about their plan to kill Jira. and maybe 'sey argues that Boba and Jango go down so many rabbit holes on the Wook that they show up in an existential crisis questioning their Flannel Clad god and creator.

If this one were to go to teams, Greef Carga and Boss Nass would start with datapads. They can hand them off to other members of the team (or not), and the team can work together (or not) to come up with their plan and get their weapons. In this case, they only get one trunk full of weapons, so argue carefully.
