leiamoody has provided us with a great idea for the

    Spring 2016 challenge

Write about a character who is normally always busy doing nothing (i.e. something that is essential for daily survival but not life-altering; ex. Doing laundry). This can be a brief moment of downtime during an otherwise busy day, or someone who is undergoing a long period of inactivity. The writer can decide if their character is happy/unhappy with this state.

The challenge will run five months. Entries are due before June 1 00.00 Pacific Time

Question: Is this challenge about a character who is normally always busy doing nothing - *takes breath* - doing the nothing she or he normally always does, or doing literally nothing, or actually doing something?

I already have an idea and I am pretty sure it's coming from the "right" mindframe for this.

The challenge is a person who is usually busy always doing something but is currently engaged in a period of inactivity. For example, a soldier who is always used to fighting who is now living in a time of peace, and is no longer engaged in daily activities of war. Maybe this soldier is now on desk duty rather than strategy planning.

The character can actually be doing some kind of mundane activity that doesn't challenge them mentally or physically, and is in contrast to the kinds of activities they normally or used to do.

So . . . this is about "a character who is normally always busy" "doing nothing" rather than a character who is normally "always busy doing nothing".

    Gotcha. :)

Congrats leiamoody =D= (Yes, I'll be reviewing soon, I fell behind *again*). And great idea for a challenge, I'll definitely find a way to write something post-worthy for this one!

I very much like the sound of this challenge, and it may even help me resurrect a long-dormant bunny or two. :)

I, too, think this idea could spark something fun. Now, do I use my already established OCs or create a new one for this challenge. It does seem perfect for my erstwhile OC Lens Eli. It's been a while. ;)

For these challenges you may use any OC of yours, whether that OC has previously featured in any of your stories or not. :) (Right, OCDatabaseSock ?)

Mm. Just occurred to me that I might be able to dig up and polish off an RP post from the distant past, that would meet this challenge.

With a new year and many diaries appearing on the boards a new discussion.

Does your OC keep or write a diary?

My OC, at this point referred to as "Lil", writes a diary. Out of my other OCs, I can imagine a very young Doria Vorr having a super-angsty diary and I can imagine Anjie Mencuri writing essay-type diary entries.

My OC is one self-indulgent and rambling diary keeper. But she's an actress, and dramatic types do like navel gazing.

My OC kept a diary all year. Breha is a writer so she is always observing and recording and analyzing. Blue, on the other hand, doesn't keep any personal records. He defers that task to her, and trusts that she is keeping track of sentimental things. He remembers in his heart.

The Festival of Love would be the equivalent of the Valentine's Day and I can imagine everybody celebrating it after the Ewok culture became the latest ethnic fad or whatever. :)

As I mentioned in the social thread, the Youngling was playing with my Holocron 20 questions game, and my admonishment to "be careful with my Holocron!" Is inspiring crack fic plot bunnies, particularly
a three year old Mara playing with Doran's holocron, and utterly baffling poor Paolo-cron. :D It couldn't happen to a more deserving artificial intelligence.

I am re-activating my four person sandtrooper unit, The Monster Squad, to bring them into the TFA-verse.

Trying to find something in their history for one to refer back to, I located a long-lost story of theirs on an archived website, and am going to reprint it on here.

At the moment, it is sitting in a story thread of mine, but after spending the weekend re-formatting it to Board standards, I can't be arsed to read through it again, before posting it properly.

The Monster Squad, or TMS-1, comprises:

Seventy-Nine (ZTA-6479). Sergeant and leader of the unit.

Twenty-One (DLT-5921). Was an Imperial pilot, but upset someone and was relegated to the sandtrooper unit before I started writing their adventures. I'm putting him back into a TIE fighter with the First Order, and having him as one of the TIEs that chased the 'Falcon on Jakku.

Maria Van Helsing (MVH-1001). The team's first story was a crossover, where the team initially assigned to look for the droids on Tatooine, popped to Transylvania instead, and were hired by this female vampire hunter as escorts. She came back to the GFFA with them.
I'm making her friends with Phasma.

Fourth member...I just realised that I do not know. Their usual last member, Beta (BTA-0113), got promoted around the time of ANH to the Imperial Royal Guard, and was stationed aboard a star destroyer.

I'll have to do some research into my preceding RP game to see if the team had a replacement for Beta.

Earth has a leap-year this year. More planets should have one. New discussion: how does your OC cope with a leap-year in the GFFA?

With standard timeparts, standard years and suchlike being enforced by the Empire, etc. I would be surprised if anyone has Leap Years in the GFFA.
