Not much happened in that game, where did 9 minutes of stoppage time come from?

Long delay due to [penis] punch.

This is not a joke, FDJ nailed a dude in the groin and he had to be stretchered out.

American sports chants need a lot of work. Just embarrassingly crap.

@Mustafar_66 Yeah we don't stuff like that other then the really bad wave or something. Just not in our DNA. Kind of like how this sport is not in our DNA either, at least not on the men's side. And it's not like they haven't been trying. Soccer (or football) has been pushed as the "next America's game" since I was little kid. That was back in the 1980's. Don't see it changing anytime soon.

They are currently showing the USA-Wales game in our cafeteria, library, staff lounge, etc. I gave in and put on the overhead with the sound off as the kids work on a fun group project they are doing today and tomorrow. Lot of my colleagues have done the same thing. Between this and tomorrow being the last day before Thanksgiving Break, this is an absolutely useless week.

You'll hear sport chants at college, NFL, or Yankees fans against the Astros.

    That's about it

I quite like watching videos of Americans reacting to European and South American football crowds. The shock amuses me greatly.

The dynamic is considerably different from the 1980s as football is now the only sport in the US with a growing audience year over year. Demographic shifts and easier access to higher quality matches from other countries are beginning to accomplish what a lot of marketing pushes never could (And I mean, anecdotal evidence is fairly useless, but the team I see with the most visible support around town in Atlanta here plays in Mercedes-Benz and it ain't the Falcons).

    That said, our chants suck.

Edit: Ah ****. I really hope that's not more serious when the doctors get a look at it after the match.

Edit 2: Never mind, dark arts. As you were.

I'd say most of my American friends love football. Lots of support there, contrary to what some may think or say.

@CairnsTony Sports just like anything is a television show. Out of the 100 top rated programs last year, 75 were NFL games. After that it was mostly college football followed by I believe a few NBA games and a couple other different stuff. Soccer/football etc was nowhere near anything. Women's football could catch on in the 10-20 years as it is gained popularity particularly at the high school level but the men's game will never be anything here.

@heels1785 At this point it is only a question if the US can hold on for a draw, which I doubt. We really suck at this sport at the men's side and it's never going to change.

Speaking of the dark arts, this makes, what, three matches in a row where the officials have demonstrated time wasting is ineffective here? At some point surely somebody has to get the memo (they will not get the memo).

cannot understand how a player of reyna's quality doesn't get a chance to appear in that one.

Berhalter is just keeping in line with the general track of the USMNT's trajectory and successfully replicating the insistence of international managers on not fielding players that would obviously improve the outcome. Incremental progress on inaction in action!

USA out played 2nd half. Still playing against FIFA. Chances of making 2nd rd. doesn’t look good.

Get ready for the final to feature André the Giant being bodyslammed in front of 100,000 screaming Football Maniacs, brother.
