or Cad Bane is force sensitive

 

He's supposed to be based off of the characters played by Lee Van Cleef:

George Lucas wanted Bane to have an Old West bad guy feel to him.

Off topic, Bane almost never existed. Originally, Durge was slated to be in The Clone Wars, but Lucas nixed that idea in favor of Bane.

 

There's a Force name recognition power? Wow, the EU is crazy.

 

I've got to give credit where it is due, then. Cad Bane is waaaay cooler than Durge. (Well, cooler than the microseries version of Durge, at least. I never read the comics. Still, I like the design a lot better, at any rate.)

I always imagine the writers spending 12-hour days working on a story idea only to have Lucas come in at the last second and throw up some totally crazy, off the wall idea that ruins/contradicts their whole day of work.

Writers: Whew, we're finally finished with our dark tale of crime lords and betrayal.
*door opens*
Lucas: Put in a cross-dressing Hutt who sounds like Truman Capote.
*door shuts*

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This one worked big time, for me.

That would be one heck of a plot twist, that's for sure.

 

Would he be called Darth Bane then?

 

Maybe. But being force sensitive could be another explanation if we wanted to go there...

Whenever Indy.. uhm I mean Cad Bane shows up they need to play the Indiana Jones theme.

 

No Cad is wayyyy too mean to be Indy!

 

Yeah, that's kind of a stretch...I don't really see the connection, other than the fact that they both have cool hats.

 

So far, Bane seems to be a very promising and interesting character. I just hope that we don?t get disappointed.

 

Cad Bane is freakin' awesome! I'm glad that he's gonna show up again in season 2.

 

And use whips.

A Fett-style wrist grappling thingy is NOT a whip! They are completely different. Try to tame a lion with a wrist-grappling thingy. I dare you, just try it!

 

I guess what I'm getting at in a not so subtle manner is there is no telepathy in *real* Star Wars.

There's cool powers in the EU! Shatterpoint came from the EU and it looked awesome in TCW. But honestly when I was watching this episode I did think it was strange that Cad yelled "Skywalker!" as he was shooting. So I just stuck with the force sensitive theory, lol.

 

Writers: Let's have Plo Koon survive the season finale somehow!

Lucas: Nope, make him die even more painfully than before. Heck, throw in a Sarlacc pit to fall into for good measure.

Writer: Let's give the fans a Terminator-esque episode emphasising the droids as soulless death automatons!
*door opens*
Lucas: We've got kids watching, and this is Star-Wars-Galaxy-of-Adventure, not Star-Wars-Galaxy-of-Angst.
Writer: But the Solos have lost one child per major galactic confl-
