I do think however, I'd flip Yoda on that cover. That way, his saber would be more prominent on the cover, and make Yoda more "part of the composition".

May I ask how you make the covers look so much like the real thing? What kind of images do you use? Do you color correct them? And do you use the original cover as a template?

Tat_FireThankyou. yoda gave me loads of grief on this cover! first of all i could not for the life of me find a high enough res AotC yoda photo to use! my scanner has bust so all i could use was material from the net. i ended up using the RotS promo which i think everyone on this board will recognise.
in my own thread ive posted about how awkward it was to compose this cover due mainly to the fact that there is 2 main characters. its funny that you suggest that i try and flip yoda because that is what i tried first but the problem that had was that his lightsaber obscured Ani and Pad! im not too hapy with the little Jedi Master!

as to how i make my covers look like the official ones - you are right, i use the original cover as a template. Jeajon126, a user on these boards, sent me a high res wallpaper of the AotC dvd cover which i used to sample textures for the backgrounds. the shooting stars i literaly cut and paste!
(yes you now all know that im a big fat cheat!)
you were right again about the colour correcting. every single layer has had its colours played with to help the piece blend together.

Thanks for the info, Numanus! As you know, I know my way around Photoshop quite well, but I never got any of my covers to look as good as yours. I take it you used promotion stills most of the time?
And you, a big fat hack? I don't think so, because the result is amazing! Will you redo the ANH and TPM covers as well? I am quite curious what you'll come up with!

 

i like the covers you have posted in the past. they all feel very naturally composed which is something i envy because that is what i tend to struggle with for aaages - compsitoin!

as for TPM and ANH.....im not too sure! i happen to like those two covers. TPM was the one that started it all so thats the one i feel set the ground rules. so im not sure i'll mess with that one. ANH onthe other hand... Luke could do with a little tweaking but i might leave that one alone aswell.....he says...
