I think Fan Clubs need to be mod approved

Really? I didn't know that.... Can this one be approved even if its still public? Its about a popular character so I don't see why it wouldn't be accepted.

 

it might just be an old rule that has since changed

Favorite luke EU story?

 

I tend not to read EU, so I can't comment on that unfortunately

Me too. Did you hear about the EU reboot. Disney has 4 new books coming out which will be the first absolutely canon books in SW history. One of which is a luke book, which I'm excited for.

The lords of the sith one is confirmed to be post-rots and pre-rebels. The Luke one is inbetween ESB and ROTJ with a first person narravtive by Luke.

 

Just make sure to keep the club focused on the son of Anakin Skywalker. If you want to discuss the new books that have been announced there are threads over in Lit for that.

This is the SWC, we tend to focus on the movies here more than the books. Like I said, book discussion is more appropriate for Lit.

My favorite Skywalker moment was probably during the end of ESB. It was so powerful and emotional.

 

I must say that I have been very surprised to not see a Luke fanclub in SWC before. Good move, Doop.

Luke is the hero. Everybody else just helped along the way.

 

Exaclty. Though I have to wonder, what if Luke did join Vader in ESB?

I think Vader would have kept Luke secret like he did Starkiller, finished his training, and then unleashed Luke on the Emperor.

I don't think so, just a bunch of fan made pics. Luke fell in Dark Empire but that's been blown to hell now.

 

I know there has been a lot of talk about:

1. The saga is about the fall and rise of Anakin and everything else is just tacked on.

2. It is absolutely essential that the ST center on young actors. Bring the Big 3 out for a moment, then away with them.

3. The less we see of modern-day Mark Hamill, the better.

Personally, I love the progression and growth Luke goes through in the OT. Most action heroes in a film series are already tough in the first movie, or at least become tough by the end of the first movie. Seeing Luke go through his ascent to Jedi-hood in three films is a pretty rare treat. (I think this is also part of why people like Ripley and Sarah Connor.) I don't know that "the further adventures of Luke Skywalker" is the right direction for Disney to go, but I would love to see the logical progression of his story -- training a son/apprentice in the ways of the Force.

 

3. The less we see of modern-day Mark Hamill, the better.

I'd like to see a lot of Luke in the ST

 

It sure is, my friend. Just because you're not below 40 anymore doesn't make you worthless as a person or a character. I wish this Youth Worship Culture would die.

Mark is the ONLY reason I'll bother with the ST if I do.

 

I want lots of luke in VII because it may be his last SW film. Mark is getting older each day.

 

I want to say that I really like the Son of Skywalker who redeemed his father.
Oh and I never actually did find Anakin and Luke whiny.
My favorite aspect of him in return of the Jedi is that he accepts his dark side and his robes symbolize that.(Mark Hamill is also a good actor)

 

Luke Skywalker is one of my favs. I don't like reading Post-ROTJ, I like the OT era and hope to get more Luke stories set in them especially one in between ESB and ROTJ.
