    "TWILIGHT OF THE JEDI"
    That sounds good
Wagner does influence Jon Williams who composes the film music.
    Sounds good.

I agree, Twilight of the Jedi would've been a really cool title, but ROTS isnt bad, either.

And Im glad that Mr. Stover is taking a break from SW. Not that I dont want any more SW books by him, but Id much rather he put out the next book in the Acts of Caine than another EU book.

I always look for Heroes Die and Blade of Tyshalle at my local bookstores, but to no avail. :( Oh well, that's why I love Amazon.com.

That's strange. I see them both all of the time.

I've never seen Heroes Die in a bookstore, and sometimes my local stores have a sole copy of Blade of Tyshalle in.

Mr. Stover I was reading your daily blog today.
I have to say I can't agree more with you over your political beliefs.

I hope the blog makes it clear that my beliefs are not so much political as they are philosophical. I'm not going to get into it here; just let me say that I HATE taking sides. HATE it. I don't like political parties. I don't like the pandering and the log-rolling, and I can't stand the Rah-Rah for Our Side crap. I'd rather snipe at both sides indiscriminately from the cover of the trees.

But sometimes the philosophical perspective that allows one to remain an impartial observer is indistinguishable from cowardice.

btw -- for those of you actually interested in Star Wars news -- I'm almost done with REVENGE OF THE SITH. I should be turning it in by the end of this week.

    Cheers!

Great news about Revenge of the Sith!

I understood what you meant in the blog.
    I found it very true.
Your view on why you are leaning towards Kerry is a reason I have often though of on why to support him. Neither Kerry or Bush is very good in my opinion.
Anyway this is really not the place for a discussion on politics.

I just find your blog to be a good read. I really can't wait to read Revenge of the Sith.

Just pre-ordered Revenge of the Sith. Now I just have to wait a little more than eight months until it arrives in my hands.

Matt, what happens with all these reshoots happening? I assume this means some scenes are changing. Last time I remember in AOTC the scene in Geonosis factory was added with Anakin and Padme. Did they send you an updated script or kept you up to date that you don't have to worry about this?

    DD --

If I have anything to say about it, the tagline for the novelization will read "adapted from the screenplay by George Lucas," rather than "based on the film by George Lucas."

LFL tries to keep me as up-to-date as possible on late changes, but since the book will very likely already be in production by the time the rough-cut is done, there just isn't a whole lot anybody can do. Bear in mind that -- due to spectacular advances in technology -- Mr Lucas can make major changes without major reshoots. So the story remains entirely in his hands until the final print is released (and even after, as the Special Editions of the OT show).

I'm no longer concerned with a point-by-point reflection of exactly what happens on the screen; I can't be. I'm just trying desperately to write a really good novel that doesn't outright contradict anyting in the final film.

At this point, that's the best I can hope for.

Matt, what you said about Messr. Stewart in your 'blog:

This is your Star Wars update.

Yesterday, reading through meal breaks and such, I finished Sean Stewart's DARK RENDEZVOUS.

    It's good. Really really good.

Anybody who likes my SW stuff is gonna love this. Most of the people who DON'T like my SW stuff are gonna love it, too.

I should probably have this guy killed.

Ah, nah. With that last name he's probably a Scotsman. Shooting him will just make him angry. He also seems to know his way around unarmed combat . . .

    ...Don't worry about it.

Actually, Scots are fine. I don't know of anyone offhand who objects to that. The real bone of contention is "Scotch."

That will blow just about any Scotsman's stack completely, but they're so busy plotting to steal the Stone of Scone again, they haven't really got *time* to be offended. Your average Scot is ecstatic as long as he's got a cleadh haemmor and a rock to sharpen it with.

Mr. Stover, did you get a copy of the Japanese version of Shatterpoint? The cover looks pretty cool.

good news about the ep 3 novelization....i suppose its too much to hope that you could be the third author of the nine part series with denning and allston?

its also good news about dark rendezvous, cause the clone wars stuff is only ok in my opinion. actually, shatterpoint is the only one i could read all the way through. besides a few comics.

Matt, congrats on finishing Revenge of the Sith, it must feel pretty damn good to have that draft out of the way. And I must say that your itch to delve back into Caine has me even more excited. Which brings me to a question about your writing process, I am curious as to how many pages you complete during a usual day of writing. Has this number fluctuated throughout your career, or were all of your novels written at pretty much the same pace?

    Hey, folks.

Yeah, I saw the Japanese SHATTERPOINT. It's okay, but I like the US cover better.

    ML --

No, I haven't committed to any further SW books right now. I've done three in a row, and I need to get back to my own stuff (specifically, in this case, CAINE BLACK KNIFE).

    zeke22x:

Congrats on having the coolest sig quote on this board.

I try to produce 1,000 words a day of finished fiction. I don't always achieve that (in fact, I often don't), but that's my goal. I'm taking a few days off to decompress after RotS -- I may actually take time off until I finish all the editorial revisions, so that RotS is over-and-done before I go back to Overworld -- though that depends on how long it takes them to get back to me with comments. I'm a writing addict, and I'm gettin' the itch already.

The point is that if I can do 5-6,000 words per week, I can finish two SHATTERPOINT-sized novels per year, which is pretty darn good, and still take two or three weeks off for vacation, which is even better.

I saw the SHATTERPOINT discussion thread was locked, so I'm just gonna ask here. Is the creatuer on the Japanese cover an akk-dog?

Mr. Stover, I could not agree more with your recent post in your blog. It is terrible how SF/F is one of the least read genres. Your blog, like your novels is always interesting and always a good read.

Jort, that is an akk dog on the cover. It looks like they just copied the design from the akk dog appearance in the last 2 issues of Emmissaries to Malastare.

Great news, Mr. Stover. I'm eagerly awaiting the next Overworld book. :D

I'm wondering how the Ankhanan Empire will be after Ma'elKoth's apotheosis, and the coronation of their final Emperor... I do hope that CBK will feature Ma'elKoth in it, despite his new form, since he is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time.

How many of you guys here have read the Overworld books? Just asking out of curiousity, though I've seen that a ton of people have.

A better question would be "Who hasn't read them?"

I loved them so much that I gave them to a girl for Valentine's Day, and just recently lent them to my best friend a few weeks ago. He was reading Tyshalle on the way to a baseball game today, and I'm glad he's enjoying the books as much as I did.

He went as far as to say it's the best Science Fiction/Fantasy he's ever read, with possibily the exception of Asimov. His words, not mine. I'm hard pressed to disagree however.

    Hah!

Good point. I've gotten several of my friends interested, but for some reason they can't find a copy of HD anywhere. BoT seems easy enough to find, but HD has become elusive.
