I used to mock some of the rules that have been put in place to better protect QB's. But in the past few seasons we've seen some high profile QB's just get these totally unnecessary injuries and be out because some berserker lineman was bent on doing that. And it just makes the entire league less fun to watch when that happens. So I'm all for protecting the QB now.

There was nothing unnecessary about the hit on Brees. The lineman didn’t even land on him. Brees is just a small, fragile old man of a quarterback.

 

And that frail old man is still breaking records.

 

The Brees injury wasn't particularly egregious. But it solidified my view that there should be more protections in place for QB's. It seems like particularly in these past few seasons that there's always 2 or 3 high profile quarterbacks that are injured, and it just makes the season far less interesting to watch overall. That Rodgers injury, I don't remember if it was last season or the season before, was just stupid and totally unnecessary.

 

It’s really right there on the line. While he didn’t land on him I think he may have slammed him down after it was clearly going to be a sack. But again, it’s so easy in slowmo replay to say this. In full speed it’s just a guy making sure the qb didn’t slip him. Game footage shows it in multiple angles here.

 

I’m only just tuning in. 3-3 ugh. I don’t have a good feeling about this game. I think Falcons gonna get it today.

 

Slamming someone down is called a tackle. A football player is supposed to be able to endure a tackle. It’s not on the line at all. The lineman is just powerful, and Brees too frail.

No, he’s not, because he’s not playing. He’s not playing because he was too small and frail to endure a tackle.

Right, because Brees not playing today is totally improving the quality of this game.

 

Phew finally got a damn TD. Hill did a great job moving that drive down field. Hopefully that’s the end of the jitters with a successful drive.
