Challenge The Official Write/Rewrite Challenge: New Challenge posted 2/8/12

Welcome to the all-new, reformed and all-encompassing Official Write/Rewrite Challenge. Many of you may remember this challenge in one or both of its original forms: The OT Write/Rewrite Challenge, started by JedImasterbac, and the PT Write/Rewrite Challenge. After much consideration , we have decided and been mod-approved to combine those challenges as well as incorporate a new one just for all you Beyond fans.

Hence the all-new official challenge thread. The challenges will be the same as before, taking a scene from the SW movies and rewriting it or creating an all new scene from the gaps the movies didn?t fill in. How are we working in Beyond, you may ask? Simple, the scenes will be chosen from the EU books or we may have you create an all-new one set in between the books.

The Rules:

1. A new challenge will be posted on Mondays. Please post your response in the official response thread. A link will be provided along with the challenge. You will have 7 days to post a response.

2. Please refrain from posting your reply outside the official response thread until the winner of that round is announced. The reason we ask this is because it is much easier for people to vote when all of the responses are in one place.

3. Voting will begin the morning after the deadline to post a response. Anyone is allowed to vote. You do not have to be a participant in the challenge to do so. And if you are a participant, you may also vote, but do not vote for yourself. Also, please do not ask anyone else to vote for you. That takes the fun out of a friendly competition and we want this to be fun for all.

4. Voting will be via PM only. You may submit 1 vote to either DarthIstar or myself within the voting timeframe.

Write a scene from any of the Zahn books so that the entire tone is changed. Bonus points if you use the same dialogue, but end up with a completely different intention.

The next challenge is:

During the Clone Wars, Asajj Ventress became one of the most feared beings in the Galaxy due to her defeat of several Jedi. She also became the bitter enemy of both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Your challenge is to write a scene focused on her first encounter with either Obi-Wan or Anakin or both. The setting and circumstances of this meeting are totally up to you.

Hmmm...I might be able to do this one, I'll have to see how this week goes. (And I still haven't written my humor challenge response yet. )

I'm definitely interested in this type of challenge, although I don't feel like I know the characters in Before and Beyond well enough to write those eras. Obi-Wan or Anakin and Ventress, though...

 

This is an awesome concept. I'll be waiting till it's work i'm more familiar with though.

 

Would you extend the deadline for this challenge?

I love writing bad guys.

The deadline for entries has passed - to clarify the earlier question regarding the deadline - Midnight board time means people have until 11:59PM on the date in question. In this case, it was Monday February 14, to post their entry. I hope that helps for future reference.
