    Grumble.

    Edit:

Well, I say grumble, but I’d rather it be done properly.

That's a shame, but if what I've heard about the PTS and class changes is true, it might be for the best.
At least this shift gives them another month to improve the update.

Damn... It sucks, but after playing on the PTS, I can see why it needed to be delayed. Of course, some people are mad about the Delay. BioWare is damned if they do, damned if they don't, it seems...

On the upside, I can finish getting the Renown achievements, as well as the Eternal Championship, and KotET Chapter II Master Mode achievements!

That rush to get it out before Christmas didn't pan out I see. Better for them to push it back a couple months to iron out all the bugs anyways.

Well darn! That's okay, I finally got the right equipment so I can play the game again after a hiatus of 4-5 years. At least it gives me time to catch up!

Celebrating 10 Years and Looking Forward

Today marks an incredible milestone for Star Wars: The Old Republic, our 10 year anniversary! Our amazing journey up until this point is one many of you have taken with us, and we’re honored to have shared all these years of Star Wars adventures with all of you.

We launched on December 20, 2011 - a decade doesn’t seem all that long, but in that time, we’ve delivered nearly 300 patches and are about to release our 8th expansion. And in that same time span, my family grew a lot, including 5 grandkids, 4 dogs, and two cats.

Moreover, I’m very proud of the SWTOR team, as we’ve been together for many years, and a great number of us have been working on this game since before launch. In fact, many people on my development team are long term veterans, and we all love this game, enjoy the camaraderie, the history together, and creating a game y’all enjoy every day.

It is rewarding to lead a group of talented people who have accomplished so much over the years, and though there have been hurdles such as adapting to the pandemic, my team has overcome them, and they continue to strive in building a great Star Wars game.

Over the last decade, many memories have been made both through the game and with our in-person events. These have always been key with connecting to our players. I mentioned in our last livestream how much I missed seeing everyone in person. So safety and event regulations permitting, we are laying down the groundwork to have our first Cantina in almost two years at SW Celebration in May 2022! As always, we will share more details when we have them.

In our previous livestreams, we’ve given players a look into where Legacy of Sith will take them including some new characters who will be joining their adventures. We’ve also talked about how our 10th anniversary is going to be celebrated year long! Here is a whole variety of activities currently running both in and out of game from December 2021 through January 2022:

    • SWTOR anniversary gun charm in Apex Legends - Available through February 15, 2022
    • Star Wars Insider January (#207) Issue - Special Edition Darth Malgus cover (now on shelves!)
    • Life Day is running from December 14, 2021 to January 11, 2022
    • Our annual Anniversary event is running for an entire year! From December 14, 2021 to January 2023
      • The anniversary vendor has all existing rewards and new rewards will be added starting in 7.0!
      • Our Double XP event starts today and will run to January 4, 2022
    • Cartel Market sales are starting today!
      • From December 20, 2021 to January 3, 2022
        • Seasonal items will be available
        • 75% off all Collection Unlocks
      • From December 20, 2021 to December 27, 2021
        • 50% off all Armor Sets
        • 50% off Character Slots
      • From December 27, 2021 to January 3, 2022
        • 50% off all Mounts and Stronghold Decorations
    • Feast of Prosperity will run from January 11, 2022 to February 1, 2022
All of this leads me to giving you some insight into what’s going to happen after 7.0 launches. Legacy of the Sith is laying the groundwork for some exciting updates that will be made throughout the next year and beyond. While exact details are still under wraps, we do have a clear vision for the next few years and I’d like to share what our key focuses will be. They fall into two categories: Content and Modernization.

    Content

Hot on the heels of 7.0, we’ll have another update with the R-4 Anomaly Operation and a new daily area set in an all-new section of Manaan. Beyond that, your character's personal saga will continue in an epic storyline extending through multiple patches in 2022 and beyond. After the dramatic conclusion of 7.0 on Elom, you’ll continue to unravel the mysteries of Darth Nul, join the erupting civil war among the Mandalorian clans, and discover the true objective Darth Malgus is pursuing. All the while working alongside old friends like Kira, Scourge, Akaavi, and Torian, as well as some new faces you’ll meet for the first time in 7.0. You’ll also explore new locations (some are new to SWTOR, others are entirely new creations!) and perhaps even gain an opportunity to return to where your character’s journey first began so long ago…

As always, you can expect all of this to unfold across a variety of content types: single player, multiplayer, Flashpoints, Operations, Daily Areas, and more. New progression gear will become available throughout the year starting with the R-4 Anomaly Operation, and as we add gear progression after 7.1, we’ll also ensure that previously available gear will become more accessible to players.

We also have some exciting updates coming to PvP after 7.0 that we’re looking forward to sharing with you after launch!

    Modernization

As many of you have already seen on PTS, a huge part of the team’s work in 7.0 focused on modernizing many aspects of the game. A totally revamped Character Creation experience, new character sheet, great new features like Loadouts and Weapons in Outfitter, and of course the dramatically expanded gameplay options offered through Combat Styles.

At 7.0: Advance Classes now known as Combat Styles. Class now known as Origin Story.

We’re going to continue updating UI elements throughout the game next year - in some cases, these will primarily be visual updates to make our style more cohesive and ensure proper scaling on high resolution screens, but we also look forward to improving accessibility and the everyday user experience in other parts of the game as we did with Loadouts in 7.0.

We’re also eager to upgrade our visuals elsewhere in SWTOR: starting with Tython, Korriban, Hutta, and Ord Mantell, we’ll be starting a process of upgrading the visual fidelity of our planets to bring them more in line with the amazing work the team has created in recent years.

As you can see we have such an exciting future ahead and we will be sharing more details with all of you especially after 7.0 launches early next year, so expect to hear from me again! Ten years is a milestone we are so proud of and we are so thankful that you continue to join us on this adventure. To each and every one of you, happy 10th anniversary, we wish you a year full of much love, health, and lots of gaming!

-Keith Kanneg and the SWTOR Team

It will be interesting to see how much longer this lasts. I noticed he didn't mention anything like 'here's to another ten years' or anything like that. I wonder how many more expansions there will be after Legacy of the Sith.

Maybe this is an incorrect read on things, but I would think that because of the UI updates and the statement that content updates will proceed through 2022 and "beyond" would indicate that at the very least, there will probably be at least one more expansion after Legacy of the Sith. I don't know if TOR updates will last to 2025, but I can see it getting that far.

Well, the most important thing is that they have confirmed more story updates. We also have a small outline for them:

"...you’ll continue to unravel the mysteries of Darth Nul, join the erupting civil war among the Mandalorian clans, and discover the true objective Darth Malgus is pursuing"

Happy New year with Legacy of the Sith in the Star Wars the Old Republic!

What I know the difference from the launch in 2011 and further on until update 4.0 Knights of the Empire

That it was only from the launch Doc, Guss Tuno, Tallos Drellik, Malavai Quinn, Tharan Cedrax, Dr Lokin, Elara Dorne and Mako who could healing your characters against the enemies.

It was not easy for my JK to defeat Darth Angral with T7. I decided then to take my Jedi Defender to the Republic Fleet. To ask someone to help me and a Trooper player came with me for the mission against Darth Angral and Kira. We have stayed in touch as friends and helped each other against stronger enemies.
Instead for T7 that I wish had the MX droid from the Trooper class.

Another example with my Imp agent as Operative was not easy against Darth Jadus. I trained to do heroin missions to gain exp for the next level and it was good success to defeat Darth Jadus with Kaliyo.

Kaliyo and T7 were not good enough as a strong companion when it comes to defeat harder enemies. Now they can healing you or instead to choose to fight without healing.

Aric Jorgan Khem Val Bowdaar Akaavi Spar Lord Scourge Kira Carsen Scorpio Qyzen the Trandoshan Jaessa Willsam and Torian Cadera was the best to choose.

It was not difficult at all for the Bounty Hunter Trooper Sith Inquisitor and Marauder with a healer companion or a tank.

What are you basing that off? From the animations and way the cinematic is shot it looks like they are doing more. Is your basis that they don't have a blur cutscene?

We know there is a blur trailer in the works per Papa Keith after the tease of it in the montage trailer. They wanted it to be ready for the stream 2 months ago but it wasn't ready yet. Probably saving it closer for launch. It featured a few seconds of and the following will be a bit spoilery so i'll mark it as such.To be honest I was impressed with the upcoming story cutscenes. That bit with Anri flying a fighter through the water looked nice. We may be in for kino cutscenes.

The person at the end of the montage is the Twi'lek padawan Sa’har Kateen and she appears in the Elom FP and from what I saw and it wasn't much may have a bigger role going forward in future content. They're also mentioned in the short story about Elom.

Yes. They used to develop cinematic cutscenes to advertise their releases. This is just game footage filled with ten year old graphics.

So if they release a CGI trailer for this you would say they have the same budget?

    @Hydrosphere13
Where did you get that info from?

I thought it was Malgus's child with his old lover.

A few datamines ago her name finally popped up. She's also mentioned in this short story.

As for being a child of Malgus. It's possible he did take a Twi'lek slave as a wife and this twi'lek differs from most as they have eyebrows.

:edit sorry forgot to give my thoughts on the budget. Steam was a very successful endeavor for Bioware Austin. They hired a few people and yeah you're gonna need some money for a blur trailer. Those things are expensive.

Ah ok, I am a bit disapinted I thought a child of Malgus would be cool to see. Though she might still be I guess.

The first 3 blur trailers are some of the best, so if we got another I would be very happy. But most o the expansions don't get them ( Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Shadow of Revan didn't).

I really don't care if they are on lower budget or if EA doesn't give BioWare the money it once did, what i do care about is that they use those resources accordingly to give quality expansions, and lately they've been given us good story material and now some juicy revamps for the game itself! I am not complaining, i do not need a cinematic trailer, if anything i wish they didin't waste money on that lol.

I love those cinematic trailers but honestly I think making them show themselves in the foot.

they promised things they couldn’t cash in

I don't understand the "promised things" part.

Like are you saying they showed stuff that wasn't on the game? I feel they potrayed very clear analogues for the classes you play in-game, what each does and what the story and aesthetic was like (even giving some good backstory as the cinematics were important events before the game starts from which they could build up some continuity).
