Wasn’t an old theory that the Sentinels in Dark Empire were clones of Luke?

That would explain Snoke’s blue eyes...

I love this, given I always wanted Dark Luke clones or at least one of his lost hand in the ST!

So if Exegol is the hidden world of the Sith what does that make Byss the slightly less hidden world of the Sith? Also I thought it was interesting that a bunch of Resistance fighters knew that Exegol was called the "hidden world of the Sith" so I guess everyone knew it existed it was just... hidden.

Byss was more Palpatine's private world than a "Sith world" per se. Exegol, OTOH, is more another ancient stronghold like Korriban or Ziost.

I actually have been casually searching for whether it could feasibly be a second name of a planet we've seen in the Old Republic era that never showed up afterwards. I keep thinking there's one and I'm forgetting it, but I got nothing.

It’s in the same approximate square as Thrawn’s Sith Clone Project...

Zakuul is near Ach-To and Lehon, wrong location ;) As Sinre said already its the same as Thrawns Kemp clone project with Forceuser cloning and "Mother".

As for Resistance knowing of Exegol but not its location, it is an ancient myth that is known but never was found, much like the Jedi knew of the Rule of Two but never confirmed its followers as existing post Bane.

In a way, using Iron Sky analogy, Exegol is the inner Earth Nazis and the First Order were the Moon Nazis... major Vril vibes!

Wouldn't it have been fun if, given its proximity to the Chiss Ascendancy, the Sith Cultists all having blue skin and red eyes like Thrawn in a closeup if they would have done one?

I have an explanation to how Palpatine came back in Rise of Skywalker that's One Canon related, and also explains why Palpatine bothered with biological children in the first place.

Carnor Jax sabotaged the DNA of all of Palpatine's clones, leading to his final death in Empire's End comic. However, Jax did not account for the existence of Rey's father.

After the Empire's End comic, the Sith Eternal got a sample of Rey's father's DNA. They didn't necessarily have to catch him himself, just a sample of hair or a drop of blood etc.

Tediously cross-referencing this with the tampered Palpatine DNA, they were able to determine which DNA segments were altered and restore them by checking them against the DNA of Rey's father. Combined with the memory flashes Palpatine had done before his death in Empire's End, the Sith Eternal ended up with an untampered clone of Palpatine (or close enough) that Palpatine's memory was able to be uploaded to without any accelerated tampered clone degradation.

The process might not have been perfect, thus Palpatine's not great health state and reliance on machinery in ROS.

I disagree but would modify your theory a bit:

With Palpatines clones gone, they had to mix his remaining DNA bits with that of others to be able to use them. So they added Skywalker blood as well as other samples they got from Mount Tantiss, Byss and elsewhere. The result though was not Palpatine but SNOKE! Snoke then would take over the First Order and lead the Sith Eternal on the quest to find a way to bring back Palpatine himself, which they ultimately achieved via Rey's father and henceforth Snoke bowed before his reborn Master and became the willing subject and pawn of White Eyes Palpatine, as Palpatine, living embodyment of the Father of Shadows, remote controled him like his Shadow's Pawn... Shadowspawn!

Palpatine outright said he created Snoke. Snoke could not have been created during a time Palpatine was dead.

Palpatine created Snoke for the purpose of recreating Palpatine should all other return plans fail... contingencies within contingencies ;) Sith Eternal simply activated the Palpatine created Snoke... or S.N.O.K.E. (= Secret Neoimperial Operation Keep Emperor)

I like this except for the "memory flashes" part, that would mean it really wasn't Palpatine but just someone who thought he was Palpatine. At some point, his spirit had to escape from Jedi Hell.

Maybe the easy answer is that there isn't a jedi hell. Empatojayos brand just believed there was, and as long as a proper clone is made with a memory transfer, Palpatine can return.

Note that none of those sith skeletons on korriban Palpatine chatted with in empires end were in jedi hell, so the comic itself was already inconsistent on this.

Maybe all Brand and other Jedi ghosts can do is prevent Palpatine's ghost from taking over Anakin Solo's (or anyone else's) body. But they can't prevent him from taking over his own genetically identical body.

I saw on wookiepedia that Snoke said he saw the rise and fall of the Republic so he should have been created before Order 66. That's what all them Snokes in a jar are leftover I guess. It's entirely possible Snoke just sat around on Exegol until they needed him to take over the First Order after they began after Jakku.

This depends on how much Palpatine ran his puppet. Snoke definitely had intimate knowledge of the Endor throne room moments so I lean more towards Palpatine running the body off and on.

Snoke, according to the VD, joins the FO with reinforcements (and presumably those mute alien navigators (Chiss)) and that’s when the rest of the FO accepts his rule. Especially as never styled himself as Emperor.

While I agree the saw the rise and fall comment relates to Palpatine controling him, I wonder if Snoke was used as Steward for the Emperor in the Unknown Regions much earlier than previously thought. Especially given Palpatine could not trust Thrawn with the Empire of the Hand! Maybe Snoke was the political backdrop to that part conveniently keeping Thrawn and the Ascendancy in line.

Maybe Force-remote-controling Snoke clones was the Emperors plan back then to keep galactic control tight personalised. Before switching to using droid Messengers. Or are we to assume cyborged Snokeclones are within the Messenger getup too??? Reminds me of Sovereign Protectors, oversized cyborged beings after all.

The Alien Navigators gave me insectoid Aing-Ti vibes and I think the TLJ VD hinted at that and not at Chiss navigators though now both would make sense. Hmmm...

Ok, here you go, spoilered for size (rough timeline I put together based on my own placement that the Sequel Trilogy occurs 64-65 ABY, with Ben Solo (aka Kylo Ren) being born to 64 year old Leia in 45 ABY. Chewie, Ackbar, and Mothma were all found alive in a Vong prison camp around this time too, while Jaina is with the Fels and Ben Skywalker left to start his own family life)

@Sinrebirth after all these years I can't remember you making an actual year by year timeline, unless I missed it. So I went and made one (albeit based on my own One Canon placement, not yours)

Rule of thumb if there's a completely irreconcilable difference between Old Canon and New Canon, New Canon wins. For example Dark Disciple can't fit at all with old Quinlan Vos. Taking that Obsession, Clone Wars TPB Vol. 7 is mostly noncanon even to Legends, I assume any Clone Wars TPB afterwards is also noncanon and Quinlan's ending follows Dark Disciple, not Clone Wars TPB 8. We mash up Quinlan's dark side turn in Clone Wars TPB 1-6 and Dark Disciple together as best we can. An exception to this rule I made is changing the Solo film to Han Solo and the Pirates of Kessel, because it fits so well as that holofilm as described in the Mindor novel.

Thrawn's situation could get messier as time goes on if he appears in a Rebels sequel series or something. Right now I'm acting under the assumption he returned without Ezra and was demoted, which future Thrawn canon will likely overrule. Clones (which Thrawn specialized in) or Flim appearing as Thrawn far earlier than the Caamas crisis explanations may have to be created.

Worst case scenario is the Thrawn Trilogy and TIE Fighter will have to be ejected from this One Canon (horrors  )

Somewhat but TIE designs always ended up appearing earlier than they should have in Legends. Always. We had the ‘oh it’s a prototype’ retcon every few years.

The TIE Defenders in Canon didn’t have torpedoes and ion cannon did they...?

So how does The Rise of Kylo Ren's new information on the academy factor into the unified timeline? I have some ideas, spoilers for the comics below:

In Issue 3, Ben tells the Knights of Ren that Luke started training him first before they were joined by other padawans. Ben's age in these flashbacks are hard to pin down. I would assume that when the Knights of Ren fight Luke on Elphrona, Ben is between the ages of 10-14 and that this battle occurs before Luke sets up the temple.

That puts the establishment of Ben's class between 22-26ABY as per One Canon birthdates. Looking at Legends, we know Luke had the inaugural class by 12ABY, the padawan model readopted around 14ABY once there were enough Jedi masters, and then Jacen and Jaina's class by 23ABY. I think there were also two Jedi classes between the inaugural class and Jacen and Jaina's class? It's also worth noting that per Ifrit and Kyle Katarn's examples, Jedi could take on two padawans at a time. This makes sense given the shortage.

So Ben's class including Hennix, Tai, and Voe is something like Luke's fifth Jedi class, and Ben is the only Padawan Learner that Luke personally took on. Since Luke is running a non-Yavin temple between 22 and 26 ABY, I'm going to suggest that Luke's canon temple is actually nearby the Maw shelter! Could a serene grassy planet exist in the Maw Cluster? It's not extremely likely, but it's possible. Especially since the Akkadese Maelstrom could be the source of light for the planet: it's a swirling nebula of hot gas and young stars right next to Kessel and the Maw. Ben is also closest in age to Valin Horn, Seff Hellin, and Bazel Warv, so making these students part of his cohort works out.

Ben growing up so close to Abeloth might also exacerbate many of the problems we've seen him struggle with in canon, too.
