Rokangus, I saw Weird Al about this time last year in concert. He did an amazing show!I don't know if you ever have seen him in concert, but there was always something going on, on-stage, if he wasn't performing then he had a big screen down and he was showing little parody type promos, like "30% chance of rain"

I like the 1 song by 'They Might Be Giants', the 1 that goes "no you can't go back to constantanoble"

They Might Be Giants! They might be fake, they might be lies, they might be big big fake fake lies....

My fave album of theirs is "Lincoln". Who could argue with a lyric like, "If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments"? :D

Some questions for those assembled herein:

This "Emo" music . . . does that term come from "Emotion" or "Emotional"? Is that a major aspect of this music?

And is anyone here familiar with that whole realm of Club/DJ/electronica music, and its sub-genres (e.g., Drum&Bass, Jungle, Trip-Hop, Acid, etc. etc.), that could really explain what it's about to me? I am curious to investigate it further; I'm only vaguely aware of it.

I think Emo is short for Emotional.

Back when I was like 7 or 8, my cousin Eric came up from Florida to visit. At the time, I (and my family, and friends) listened to a lot of country music. He gave me 3 mix tapes - Eric's Music Ed 101-303. These contain my favorite music ever - Techno, trance, alternative, and of course, They Might Be Giants. :D

Why they changed it I can't say

People just liked it better that way

    So,
    Take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
why did Constantinople get the works?

I remember first hearing that song on Tiny Toons. It was a music video thing starring Plucky Duck in the desert.

Actually, "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" wasn't a TMBG original. It was done originally by a group called the Four Lads back in 1953 or so . . . but TMBG's version is the best . . .

This are some lyrics from my fave TMBG original:

"Make a hole with a gun perpendicular
To the name of this town in a desktop globe
    Exit-wound in a foreign nation
Showing the home of the one this was written for

"My apartment looks upside-down from there
Water spirals the wrong way down the sink
And her voice is a backwards record
It's like a whirlpool and it never ends

"Ana Ng and I are getting old
And we still haven't walked in the glow of each other's majestic presence
Listen Ana hear my words, they're the ones you would think I would say if there was a me for you"

    ----------------------------
    Now *that*'s a love song!

Savage Garden (lol, I get bashed by all my friends for owning this cd. So then I crank it. :D )
    Sugar Ray
    U2
    3 Doors Down
    Creed
    Lifehouse
    Blink 182
    P.O.D.
    Papa Roach
    Green Day
    Rage Against the Machine
    Powerman 5000
    Filter
    Virtical Horizan
    Foo Fighters

    Newboys
    Five Iron Frenzy
    Supertones
Garth Brooks (although that cd gets almost no play)

Five Iron Frenzy! They're my favorite. I love Arnold and Willis and Mr. Drummond, as well as Oh, Canada. Their newest one was all that great, but Giants and All the Hype were the best songs from that offering.
