The Politics of Star Wars

    Does anybody know if the Galactic Senate of the Old and New Republics worked in similar ways as the U.S. or European governments?

    How many senators were elected from each planet?

    How many representatives?

    etc.

    Basically, does anybody know exactly how the two democracies worked?

    I'm not sure how many of Senators there are in the senate in Star Wars but I know that it, most likely is more calm then the US senate, or not.
