Chic, IL The Return of Rocky the Rancor!

He's back!

Yes, dear Rocky, the lovable little virtual rancor, has survived to this day! I'll post the archive from his original thread ASAP. For now, know that he is alive and well....

This is particularly notable for this reason: I first began raising Rocky on Thanksgiving. That was two weeks ago; now, according to the little instruction sheet that came with the SW Giga-Friend Rancor:

"Your rancor can also die from old age. Your rancor is designed to live for about two weeks."

That means that Rocky is now beyond specs! Time to share the love, everyone!

He's presently sleeping... they look so cute, all curled up.

 

2 weeks? That's all???? What a crappy toy.

 

Well, most people don't have the time to care for a virtual friend longer than two weeks at once, anyway. So I'd say, rather than a crappy toy, it's a very cleverly-designed one.

Stardreamer, I'm with you! We've got Furby's, but we never have figured out how to understand them, b/c who has that much time?

Speaking of interactive toys, and Furby's, I've been dying to get myself one of the "furby-like" Yoda's. So far I have been too cheap to buy one. Unlike the Furbies, I think I might be able to find time for the old Jedi Master.

 

I've only heard from one person who actually owns an Interactive Yoda, Steph, and he said it was more or less crap. ::shrug:: Still, they may have updated it... you never know.

It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of Rocky the Rancor. He left this world peacefully, in his sleep early Wednesday morning. At the age of 19, his strength, courage, and dignity served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held today, in a private ceremony; the eulogy will be read by Rocky's personal keeper and closest companion.

Thank you for your kind words and support throughout Rocky's long life.

Rocky, dear Rocky, how little we knew
We heard of you and saw you grew
Of Gamorrean guards you would bite and chew
But now, we must say good bye.

Thanks for the laughter and the tears
Thanks for being with us these years
Thanks for filling Jabba's palace with cheers
Missing you, I feel a sigh

Just 19, that was your age
All those years in that cage
You developed such wonderful rage
To feast upon creature's bones

We say so long, to our dear chum
Dead now, like Bib Fortuna and Salicious Crum
But memories thrive, and a tune we hum
As you travel to your final home.

 

Stardreamer, I'd like to offer my sincere condolences on your loss. But always remember, Rocky will live on in our hearts.

Jeff, that was a marvelous poem... I mean it, I thought it was great.

BTW, the coroner's report has confirmed that it was age, and not neglect, that led to Rocky's passing. (IOW, his health was high... 93, in fact. I had been worried that I'd failed him, but no... it was simply his time to go.
