it was a 1v1 and I wouldn't call it him losing. It's all gravity, the light Yoda gets blasted away while the heavier Palps has it easier. It was his only shot to kill Palps too, he wasn't getting another chance.

but this trilogy loves to hammer in the new characters and in the end they need dead people to save their behinds. So what is the point of the next gen characters?

They need help from dead people to beat a guy who's supposed to be dead, but isn't. Is this World War Z in Space, or Star Wars: The Walking Dead?

I don't even know where to start. Helping someone defeat the big bad doesn't mean the new characters are weak. It could just mean the villain is extraordinarily powerful.

the issue is that it's supposed to be their journey/risk/triumph, you take all of that away with zombies/ghost.

unless this ghost/zombie means something special to the character he saves....but we have Rey Palpatine, so it just makes no sense. [face_dunno]

Getting help doesn't take away from someone's triumph.

Also have you always refered to them as zombies, or only now that you don't like the story?

it does if they are dead....

and you can't dislike what is not fact. And I'm pretty sure I called Luke, zombie back in May or something when I said give me zombie Luke over force ghost Luke. Not sure what the big deal if I call him zombie?

You mean Luke is shuffling over to Palpatine mumbling, "brains"?

This would be my favorite Star Wars movie...

I’m actually willing to bet money with you that Rey Palpatine is complete bull****.. Also, a ghost/zombie is a willing choice

So you'd refer to Obi-Wan and Yoda in the OT as zombies?

It's about how everything is spun into a pejorative.

Eeew, I don't know man. I'm not a fan of it either. But I do believe it's very possible, unfortunately

Maybe for the first act or 2 she thinks she is related to Palpatine which makes things harder for Rey but it is later revealed as a lie or mistake, and she gets the genuine reveal around the time Palpatine is defeated.
To add to the happy ending.

Maybe Im deluded with this though.
The craziness around these rumours... and rumours of fake rumours is doing my head in.

they are ghosts, they never came back in flesh in the OT. And when Yoda came back in flesh (zombie) in TLJ he didn't fight Kylo Ren or anything. Just talking to Luke.

Wait, how was Yoda back in the flesh in TLJ? Just a classic blue ghost with a little more power.

I wouldn't call it classic blue ghost, he looked more flesh and had more power. It makes sense given all the force on Ach-To. Maybe a set up for IX?

    Maybe.
He did look a little more solid.
    Possibly because it's Ach-To yeah.

Force ghosts physically interacting with the world isn’t a new president established in TLJ. Obi Wan’s FG in ESB was seen to move the foliage as he approached Luke on Dagobah

Zombie is the wrong way to look at at it in my opinion. They don't die - they transcend.

I mean would you call Gandalf the White a zombie?

When I think of zombie I think of George Romero. I most certainly don’t think of Star Wars

This was audibly disappointing to audiences in several of my TLJ screenings.

Just curious but how audible are American audiences outside of laughter?

Not claiming to be an expert on American audiences, just heard people saying “what?” “Why?” and sighing after Luke dies. It was obvious frustration and/or disappointment.

Okay. I just hear alot about vocal American audiences and I assumed you must be American.
