With regards the Threepio memory wipe I used to like the fact in the Prequels it was a meta commentary on watching the original trilogy as if you were Threepio with no knowledge of 1-3 where as if you watched 1-6 you were watching with the full story like you were Artoo

Not sure the memory wipe here works as well, unless we are meant to forget TROS and then remember it again at the end! Such a missed opportunity to show Threepio get his full memory back as the Saga was completed. Oh well.

I read somewhere that Kijimi was inspired by samurai films as a tribute to Hidden Fortress Fortress etc

 

That's fitting. Kind of like a Threepio generation and then the Artoo generation that knows more than they're letting on.

Palpatine convinces Anakin that only the Dark Side can give him the power over death, which is the ultimate power.




However, Rey is a Jedi and she has the healing power. Kylo-Ben learns this power through the dyad connection, from Jedi Rey, and then takes it to the next level to bring Rey back to life (the ultimate power that both Palaptine and Anakin were seeking):







So in the end, Ben finished what his grandfather started. But he did it by following the way of the Jedi just like Rey:

Out of curiosity, can anyone verify if the TROS novel states Ben learnt it from Rey? I had suspected this connection but I am unsure if it is just a theory.

Not that I know of but it makes sense for she learned the mind trick from him. The dyad seems to be able to "download" skills from each other in an instant.

Also, the irony that bad Palpy had to lie about having the knowledge (so Skywalker couldn't learn) while good Palpy actually had it (so Skywalker learned).

I looked at the ROTS shot yesterday actually but it wasn't that good a match. Here it is though.

Seems like ANH was the film JJ chose to most reference for TROS, even though that was the film he had already most referenced for TFA!

 

It is more frequent on Kijimi / The Star Destroyer for some reason.

JJ does seem biased... but there are deeper connections to other episodes. Like within TFA a lot of the ANH mirrors are more surface level.

Having said that I admire the seemingly frequent attempts to invert many things, if that was his intent. It seems too reocurring to be accidental

ROTJ watched before TFA is interesting with for example the father son dynamic turned on it's head, or ANH to TFA with Han now believing in the force.
I also adore the draining sun - Kylo's light metaphor for Han's death. Most original thing in TFA Imo.

I think he knew what he was doing with the opposite dynamic for Rey and Kylo in TFA compared to TROS, particularly at the end.

I still have some Revenge of the Sith to Ep9 parallels to post. Enough of Kijimi

 

Additionally TROS's last act is both partially an inverse Revenge of the Sith, and ROTJ turned up to 11. While still for me satisfyingly concluding the story established by TFA and to a lesser extent TLJ.

I wish he had done a 3 hour epic and did more for Ben's redemption and included Anakin though.

Ben disappeared together with his body. Maybe there is death and (re)birth when Ben dies, him being gone and wrapped at the same time. But we only see him disappearing, and so does Rey. ('Infant' comes from from the Latin word infans, meaning "unable to speak" or "speechless", and that's Ben in Exegol)

When it come to portals and fire, there's consuming and punitive fire, like that of the sith; but also cleansing fire.

My interpretation - Yoda calmly summons lightning down to the Jedi "homeworld" and destroys his own Temple. Sidious maniacally shoots lightning upwards from the Sith homeworld and dominates the entire Resistance fleet.

The lightning ones are interesting. Jedi master and Sith master on their respective orders' homeworlds in the new trilogy.

The planets are the inverse of each other.

Reminds me of a good idea for analysis...the symbolism of all planets throughout the saga films

 

In TLJ, Yoda says 'that library contained nothing that the girl Rey does not already possess'. He means the actual books, of course, but also 'knowledge'.
Bonfire portal, Ben's books:



Books are made from trees. Those were inside the tree, and so was Rey. The tree had whispered to her. She 'reaches out' 3 times in TLJ, the last of them in order to touch Ben's hand.

Maybe, like Ben, that tree saved someone's life in the past, or was killed by someone. This is concept art from DoTF:

I think they allude to this in the making of ROTS book
