You must have Jedi reflexes if you race pods.....don't do that again! Qui Gon catches Jar Jar's tongue in full flight.

Later Anakin takes part in the Boonta Eve race. (colorful flags)

    TROS

Kylo: "the next time I offer you my hand...you'll take it"
    Rey: We'll see...

Kylo grabs the necklace exhibiting Jedi reflexes.

This is when Rey and co. were at the Aki Aki Festival. (colorful kites)

Thanks to @reyvision for the enlightning connection between Boonta Eve and the Aki Aki which inspired me. (Granted mine not as meaningful).

Yes, Kylo is not repenting. But astoundingly in TROS....

    Han: "Hey, kid".

Luke knew back at the end of TLJ tks @HevyDevy then that it won't be him to turn Ben back telling to Leia "I came to face him Leia, but I can't save him". Note, also before this Luke apologizes to Leia : "I'm sorry" Leia : "I know you are"

Leia leaves Han's dice given to her by Luke. Kylo holds it.

Then only after Ben meets his Father, in TROS (after Rey saved his life) rejects Kylo.

Han: "We miss you son, come home.....Kylo Ren is dead. My son is alive".

    Ben: "Dad....."
Han: Nodding ever so slighty understanding Ben : "I know"

After Ben saves Rey dies and becomes one with the Force.....

Like this tying of the Han memory to the dice moment in TLJ and actually supports my head canon that it was Leia that enabled the vision of Han to visit Ben

Is it just me or do they look like a cross between a Rebellion pilot outfit and Jedi robes?

    Kylo's saber (8)

Sith dagger triggers association to Rey's parent's deaths.
    Kylo: "Rey."
It has been discussed here that when some characters have someone or something behind them, that which is behind represents the past. Here Kylo has the story of Rey's parents, from the past, but she doesn't want to hear it. She has blocked the memory. Ties back to her turning around in the TFA vision and seeing her younger self losing her parents.
Kylo is trying to use her parent's murder by Palpatine to push her to the dark.

Kylo: "I know the rest of your story." Rey: "You're lying."

Kylo: "You remember more than you say." ... Rey: "I don't want this!" Kylo: "Search your memory." Rey: "No!"

    Kylo: "Remember them. See them."

Kylo's saber is used as a representation of Rey's darker instincts here. She is literally seeing red :p

I think these scenes were intercutted perfectly. More importantly it is a real moment so believable to Rey she knows Kylo is completely truthful here. To make even more impressive to me is the child Rey and the adult Rey look exactly like the children they truly are. To be meta for a second, Daisy looks exactly like the child actress.

    World class filming.

    Bonus: Rey's mother :Be brave
    Rey's father: You'll be safe I promise.

TPM : Shmi : Now, be brave. Don't look back, Don't look back.
Anakin: I'll come and save you mum, I promise.

    Cheers!

Trying to get my head around how to structure this one. Bear with me.

    Han and Kylo

TFA - Leia: "But we can still save him... me, you." ... "There is still light in him, I know it."

TLJ - Leia: "I held out hope for so long... but I know my son is gone." Luke: "No one is ever really gone."

TFA - Leia: "If you see our son... bring him home."

Importantly, the death of Han by Kylo's blade happens at the end of the TFA scene, whereas the "death" of the Kylo persona by his own blade used by Rey precedes the TROS "reunion" scene.

    (Leia senses Han's death.)
(Kylo then Rey sense Leia is dying.)
    Leia: "Ben..."

Inversion - karma stab. Dark-siders defeat themselves.
    "Leia!"

For all of these; there is a lot of colour and lighting contrast, and of course opposite outcomes, and repetition and inversion of dialogue. Some stuff seems to happen in reverse order as well.

    Han: "BEN!"
    Han: "Hey kid."
Both times Kylo/Ben turn around to see their father.

    Han and Kylo (2)

Kylo: "Your son is gone. He was weak and foolish, like his father. So I destroyed him."
Han: "That's what Snoke wants you to believe, but it's not true. My son is alive."

    Han: "I miss you son."
    Kylo: "Your son is dead."
Han: "No. Kylo Ren is dead. My son is alive."
The subversion is "Ben" really is alive the second time.

    Ben: "You're just a memory."
    Han: "Your memory."

    Kylo: "It's too late."
Han: "No it's not. Leave here with me, come home... we miss you."

Kylo: "It's too late. She's gone."
Han: "Your mother is gone, but what she stood for, what she fought for... that's not gone."
(Ben is returning to his mother's ideals. And the strength within his mother's beliefs is adding strength to his own conviction to return.)

Kylo: "I am being torn apart. I want to be free of this pain. I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it."

    Han: "Ben."
Ben: "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it." (Both times this line is spoken Kylo/Ben isn't 100% confident in himself, in different ways).

Opposite directions, the second time he is reliving how he wished it went, and the "what I have to do" has transitioned from an evil act to a good one.

    Kylo: "Will you help me?"
    Han: "Yes. Anything."

    Last moments :(
    [IMG]

Han: "You do (have the strength)."

A bookend between TFA (before killing Han) and TROS (after redemption) -
Snoke: "The droid is aboard the Millennium Falcon in the hands of your father... Han Solo."
Kylo: "He means nothing to me."
(Kylo does kill Han but is haunted by it.)
Sidious: "The Princess of Alderaan has disrupted my plans, but her foolish act will be in vain."
Pryde: "As I served you in the old wars I serve you now."
Sidious really goes through a lot of underlings :)
Also Ben returned home symbolically like he always wished he could.

Dropping the saber when sensing his mother's call.

Leia saves Rey's life, and helps save Ben's soul.

    Ben: "Dad..."
    Han: "I know."

He throws away the saber in ultimate rejection of the dark side on the Deathstar II ruins, much like Luke did in defiance on the DSII decades earlier.

Ben turns around and his father is gone. The saber and Kylo Ren persona is gone never to return.

Of note... there is also somewhat of another bookend here, to Kylo and Luke in TLJ.

    Luke: "See ya 'round, kid."
    *Luke disappears*
    [IMG]

Then arguably Leia, the other Skywalker, makes Han *appear* - whose first line is "Hey kid." Ben has returned.

@HevyDevy I kind of mingled some pics into yours.

Maybe a juxtaposition can be made here. Kylo trying to disrupt Rey's future as a Jedi, while touching Vader's helmet. Rey however completes it, by adopting Anakin's (Vader's true self) family name, meditating respectfully touching the covered Sabers, In complete peace and purpose.

    Cheers!

    Go for it man.

    That one is fitting.

Im going to do Anakin and Leia's sabers eventually just so you know.

Btw if I have copied any of your ideas it isn't fully intentional, a lot of my posts are my thoughts adapting with other poster's input over time.

YES. That is sooo epic. I love the rhyming of the Scenes of Han and Kylo. And the Part about Han and Leia thinking about bringing him back in TFA...and effectivly doing so in TROS...YES! Great analysis.

Considering Lukes "See you around Kid!" I wished TROS to pay tribute to this and having Luke appearing Kylo too. But the Line "Hey Kid" from "Han" brings some completion to that part!

It was one of the best arcs in the trilogy for me as well.
It goes pretty well with the ep3 lava duel and vaguely with Luke and Vader from ep6, but the better connections were indeed between 7 and 9 in this case. Both scenes are so intense and emotional, and even though they are basically opposite in intent the TROS scene is still so sad. It is bittersweet, like a "what if" that never truly happened in reality. Really touching.

Do you guys read into that Palps actually wanted Kylo to kill Rey originally?

    Great response.

Since @HevyDevy brought Luke’s mention I’d like to reiterate A point made in TLJ “I came to face him but I can’t save him”.

Luke has made it clear to me that he wants impart to Kylo that he’s still Ben but at the same time to Han and Leia it is “son”.

However as he says “I can’t save him “ it can only be through Han and Leia. Hence “no one is really ever gone” means to tell Leia the memory of Han and a mother’s love can save Ben.

In other words Luke respectfully allows the Kylo persona to choose his path as this Kylo even during TLJ is not ready to listen to reason. Leia gets it once she receives Han’s dice.

Even Leia says it in TFA as @HevyDevy pointed out above “you ,me ..” Leia is courageous. So Luke truly loves his sister and reminds her of her courage. Even in TLJ Holdo tells Leia “ sure you can you taught me how “ in answer to Leia’s burdened “no more losses I can’t take it anymore.

    Anyway maybe that’s just me.

    Love stuff like this

Shows how the TROS costume was inspired by all Lando's previous costumes

I'll try and post later but I believe Leia's costume was also inspired by Anakin's Clone Wars costume

Any more costume related inspirations you can think of (know I have already covered Rey/Leia)?

Would be interested to hear you guys' thoughts on the inspirations for these outfits, they are so unique I think...

The costumes are actually subtly different, Leia seems to have some badge of rank on hers?
Luke's seems more like an actual warrior/ninja inspired training suit.

Also any significance to the neck scarves? Red/brown for Leia and white for Luke?

I've not analyzed their clothing and you've really trying to make sense of it. Good job, @DarthWolvo23 . I didnt even notice the insignia after 35 times watching TROS. How embarrassing. :oops:Someone else help out @DarthWolvo23 you can do it [face_praying]

Meanwhile, as we all know Rey wore that same helmet (that Leia used) during her training scene..

Luke : "Someone who will complete her journey" Earlier Luke even mentioned Leia envisioned the death of her son.

And we see later ironically it was Rey who stabs him :eek:but we know the rest. Point is the visions are complex, including when and how they come to pass.

I think the length of the Luke training outfit is similar to Anakin in the Clone Wars and Leia's outfit is possibly based on her Hoth outfit from TESB?

I wonder if it shows Leia still had some official Republic(?) rank whilst Luke had gone full non-military Jedi Knight by then?

    MASKS
Leia's Jedi reveal got me thinking about the other time we are shocked to find out a masked character is actually her
    [IMG]

Luke and Han are in similar positions as well

This also reminded me of the other surprise unmasking in TROS

Which has similarities to Lando's previous disguise in the last film of a trilogy
    [IMG]

(Itself now a reprise of this masked disguise)
