Okay, so pitchers 1-3 can pitch, and pitchers 5 and 6 can pitch as early as Game 3 in the new series then, if I understand you correctly.

It was ... from a certain point of view. The pitcher who got the no-no is on your roster, but this version is not.

Edit: I hope that when he read that, AmazingB imagined his version of Roger Clemens pitching a perfect game through nine innings, only for his team to not score, and an unearned run to score in the tenth, sending him to a loss, thanks to reached on error, stolen base, fielders choice, sac fly - keeping the no-hitter in tact.

I will neither confirm nor deny those oddly specific details.

Pudge Rodriguez and Mel Ott each homered, and Dwight Gooden turned in a "good enough" complete game effort to help Amazings take game one in this series.

After a Mike Schmidt fielding error in the bottom of the second inning gave Amazings the first run of the game, stone temple seattle pilots tied it up in the top of the fourth on an RBI ground out from Honus Wagner. That set the stage for Rodriguez in the bottom of the fourth, as he came to bat with two on as Arky Vaughan walked to open the inning, and Home Run Baker singled to follow. Rodriguez then hit a ball that towered over and past the left field wall for a three-run homer and a 4-1 lead for Amazings.

Babe Ruth pulled one back in the top of the sixth for the pilots, but Gooden answered with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to restore the lead to three. The lead pushed to four when Ott homered in the seventh, and was whittled again to three when Schmidt delivered a sac fly in the eighth.

With two outs in the ninth, the pinch-hitting Babe Herman hit a solo homer to bring the pilots to within two, but Gooden retired Henderson to end the game.

Gooden allowed four runs on nine hits, and struck out seven. Luis Tiant went seven innings, allowing six runs (5 earned) on seven hits.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by The Soul Gem: Pudge Rodriguez
    Final: Amazings 6, pilots 4
    Win: Gooden (3-3)
    Loss: Tiant (3-1)

    Saturday, Maebe 19th

Roger Clemens struggled early and stone temple seattle pilots took a lead, but Amazings used what turned into a dominant Clemens performance and one big inning to take the second game in the series.

Clemens opened the game by walking Honus Wagner, though he was caught stealing by Pudge Rodriguez. A double to Babe Ruth and a walk to Lou Gehrig, though, put Clemens in trouble, and a two-out single from Mike Schmidt gave the pilots a 1-0 lead in the first.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the sixth, when Mike Trout would get a leadoff single, and score on an RBI double from Albert Pujols. pilots' starter Randy Johnson had a chance to get out of the inning with the score tied at one, retiring Mel Ott and Carl Yastrzemski, but a walk to Arky Vaughan added new life to the inning, and an RBI single from Home Run Baker made it 2-1 to Amazings. Rodriguez then stepped up to the plate and scored two more runs with a triple, before Johnson struck out Clemens to end the inning.

Willie Mays would get an RBI single off of Clemens in the seventh to make it 4-2, but that was it for what Clemens would allow on the night. He would toss eight innings, allowing just the two runs on only five hits, and striking out ten along the way.

Kenley Jansen worked a 1-2-3 ninth for the save.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by The Soul Gem: Roger Clemens
    Final: Amazings 4, pilots 2
    Win: Clemens (5-3)
    Loss: Johnson (2-4)
    Save: Jansen (9)

    Sunday, Maebe 20th

Babe Ruth hit a solo homer in the first inning, and Lou Gehrig had a two-run double in the third. With Dutch Leonard cruising through six innings, it looked like stone temple seattle pilots would prevent Amazings from sweeping the home portion of the series.

But, Carl Yastrzemski lead off the seventh with a single - just the third hit on the night for Amazings - with Arky Vaughan and Home Run Baker each adding singles to load the bases. Pudge Rodriguez stepped to the plate and delivered the fourth consecutive single, scoring Yastrzemski and cutting the lead to 3-1. The pinch-hitting Bryce Harper then stepped up and delivered a two-run single, tying the game, and chasing Leonard. Bruce Sutter would enter and get Rogers Hornsby to ground out, but Rodriguez would score on the play, giving Amazings the lead. Sutter would retire Mike Trout and Albert Pujols to end the inning, but Amazings had taken a 4-3 lead.

Joe Nathan pitched the eighth for Amazings, retiring the side in order, punctuated by an inning-ending strike out of the pinch-hitting Babe Herman. And, Kenley Jansen worked the ninth with no trouble to get the save, and the sweep.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by The Soul Gem: Bryce Harper
    Final: Amazings 4, pilots 3
    Win: Grove (4-1)
    Loss: Leonard (4-2)
    Save: Jansen (10)

    Monday, Maebe 21st

Back in Seattle, the teams' bats came alive. The two sides combined for nine home runs. Amazings hit four homers, with two hit by Arky Vaughan while stone temple seattle pilots hit five, with two hit Mike Schmidt.

The runs started earlier than the homers, with Rogers Hornsby leading off the game with a triple, and scoring on a sac fly from Mike Trout. Pudge Rodriguez added an RBI groundout in the second to make it 2-0, and Trout had an RBI walk later that inning, giving Amazings a 3-0 lead without a run scoring hit.

Schmidt then hit the first of his two homers to lead off the bottom of the second, and Honus Wager followed with a homer of his own, the back-to-back homers cutting the lead to 3-2.

Mel Ott answered with a homer to lead off the third, and Vaughan hit the first of his two homers with one out in the third, pushing the lead for Amazings to 5-2. Schmidt hit his second homer, again a lead off shot, in the fourth, and Lou Gehrig finally put stone temple ahead in the fifth with a three-run homer with two outs.

That lead was short lived, however, as Vaughan hit his second homer to lead off the sixth, and Rogers Hornsby added an RBI single and Ott a bases loaded walk to make it 8-6 in favor of Amazings. Mike Piazza had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one-run game, but Home Run Baker lived up to his monicker in the seventh, crushing a solo homer to make it 9-7. Willie Mays had a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, bringing it to 9-8.

Then, in the bottom of the eight, with runners on the corners and two outs, Lou Pinella sent Babe Herman up as a pinch hitter, and Herman delivered a two-run double, putting his team ahead 10-9.

Pinella sent Willie Hernandez to the mound for the ninth, and he worked around a leadoff single to Vaughan to close the game down.

Neither starter left this one covered in glory. Jim Palmer pitched six-and-one-third innings, giving up eight runs on nine hits, while Zack Greinke lasted just six innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the "Ant-Man Crawls up Thanos' Butt" Theory: Mike Schmidt
    Final: pilots 10, Amazings 9
    Win: Eichhorn (3-1)
    Loss: Nathan (1-3)
    Save: Hernandez (11)

    Tuesday, Maebe 22nd

Rogers Hornsby had a triple and a homer and Albert Pujols collected three hits and the game-winning RBI as Amazings rallied late to beat stone temple seattle pilots.

Hornsby staked his team to an early 1-0 lead, hitting a lead off homer to open the game. That run was immediately matched, though, as Willie Mays hit a double to score Rickey Henderson in the bottom of the first.

Mel Ott gave the lead back to Amazings in the fourth, but killed a big inning, hitting into a run-scoring double play. An error by Home Run Baker then opened the door for a big inning for the pilots, with Mike Piazza scoring on the error to tie the game, and Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig adding RBI singles to give their team three unearned runs in the inning and a 4-2 lead.

Mike Trout had an RBI single to score Hornsby after his triple to lead off the sixth, and that made it 4-3 heading into the ninth. Singles by Baker and Pudge Rodriguez to open the inning put men on the corners, and a walk to the pinch hitting Reggie Jackson loaded the bases for Hornsby with nobody out. Hornsby would deliver a sac fly to left to tie the game. A walk to Trout loaded the bases back up, and ended the night for Willie Hernandez, who was looking for the six-out save. Bruce Sutter would relieve and retire Pujols, but do so on a fly ball just deep enough to score Rodriguez on the throw from Henderson.

In the bottom of the ninth, Amazings would again turn to Kenley Jansen, and even though he would balk the potential tying run into scoring position, he'd worth through the inning and close it out.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the "Ant-Man Crawls up Thanos' Butt" Theory: Rogers Hornsby
    Final: Amazings 5, pilots 4
    Win: Johnson (1-3)
    Loss: Hernandez (2-2)
    Save: Jansen (11)

    Wednesday, Maebe 23rd

Tied at six in the top of the ninth inning, a walk to Arky Vaughn, an infield single by Home Run Baker, and a walk to the pinch-hitting Reggie Jackson loaded the bases with one out for Rogers Hornsby.

Hornsby unloaded them, with a three-double to left-center, then came around to score himself on a sac fly from Albert Pujols, after an error from Babe Ruth.

Goose Gossage started the bottom of the ninth, but after walking the bases loaded was relieved by Kenley Jansen. Jansen gave up flyouts to Willie Mays and Ruth - but only the Babe's was deep enough to score a run - and popped out Lou Gehrig to get the save.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the "Ant-Man Crawls up Thanos' Butt" Theory: Rogers Hornsby
    Final: Amazings 10, pilots 7
    Win: Johnson (2-3)
    Loss: Eichhorn (3-2)
    Save: Jansen (12)

For the first twenty-six outs of the game, Sandy Koufax was able to keep the Los Angeles Palms off the board and baffled.

A Larry Walker solo homer in the ninth with two outs meant no shutout for Kofax, but it didn't change the outcome of the game. Koufax ended up with the complete game, giving up one run on six hits, and striking out six.

It was a good thing for the Palms that Koufax didn't need a lot of backing, because he didn't get much. Roy Campanella had an RBI single in the third, and Manny Machado and Andrew McCutcheon each had RBI singles in the sixth - and that was it.

Walter Johnson took the tough-luck loss, going seven innings, giving up three runs on seven hits.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the Reality Stone: Sandy Koufax
    Final: Palms 3, USANAS 1
    Win: Koufax (4-3)
    Loss: Johnson (3-4)

    Saturday, Maebe 19th

Pete Alexander was locked in, and delivered on the mound and at the plate.

Alexander pitched a complete game, giving up one run on five hits, while striking out eight. And, he had a two-run double in the second inning, opening up the scoring and personally driving in more runs that he allowed the the other team to score.

That was a good thing, because the USA Network All-Stars didn't give him that much backing.

Randy Johnson was the hard luck loser this time, going eight innings and giving up three runs on eight hits. All three runs he gave up involved Alexander, as he would come around on score after that two-run double on a single by Billy Hamilton.

Rollie Fingers pitched the ninth and gave up an RBI single to King Kelly to provide the game's final margin.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the Reality Stone: Pete Alexander
    Final: USANAS 4, Palms 1
    Win: Alexander (4-3)
    Loss: Johnson (3-4)

    Sunday, Maebe 20th

Silver King was not interested in the dominant one-run performances put up by Pete Alexander and Sandy Koufax to start this series.

So, he went out and tossed a complete game shutout, scattering nine hits as he struck out three.

Rogers Hornsby got USA Network All-Stars going in the second inning with a solo homer with two outs. That would be the only run allowed by Chris Sale, who was pulled after six innings, allowing that one run on three hits, and striking out seven.

The bullpen did not give the Los Angeles Palms a chance to stay in the game, not that it would have mattered much against King. Rollie Fingers had a tough go of things in the seventh, giving up an RBI single to Hughie Jennings, a sac fly to King, and an RBI infield single to Billy Hamilton.

Manny Machado had two hits on the night, including a double off of King.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the Reality Stone: Silver King
    Final: USANAS 4, Palms 0
    Win: King (5-0)
    Loss: Sale (1-4)

    Monday, Maebe 21st

The difference between Clayton Kershaw and Ed Walsh in this one were microscopic, as they put on a pitchers duel for the ages.

For Walsh, there was one big rule: If you weren't named "Ken Griffey, Jr." you didn't get a hit. Campanella gave up just two hits on the night - both singles by Griffey - as he tossed a complete game shutout.

Griffey actually reached base three times - walking once. That was good news for the Palms. All three times that Griffey reached base, the inning featured a double play to neutralize the threat. That was bad news for the Palms. That included Roy Campanella bouncing into a game-ending double play with Griffey in scoring position and representing the tying run in the ninth.

For his part, Kershaw tossed eight innings of six-hit ball, allowing just one run.

That one run - the only run of the game - came on a one-out homer by Jimmie Foxx in the second inning. Kershaw struck out seven, including fanning Larry Walker twice.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the "Tony Stark has just been shaking a snowglobe and imagining all of this since his parents died" ending theory: Ed Walsh
    Final: USANAS 1, Palms 0
    Win: Walsh (6-3)
    Loss: Kershaw (1-5)

    Tuesday, Maebe 22nd

Heading into the eighth inning, Walter Johnson was cruising, and it looked like the Los Angles Palms' bats would again be stymied.

Johnson was staked to a 5-1 lead, with a three-run homer from Jose Bautista and and a two-run double from Tip O'Neill more than covering a solo homer by Roy Campanella in the third.

But, in the eighth, the bats for the Palms finally came alive. Manny Machado lead the inning off with a solo homer, and after Andrew McCutcheon singled, Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run homer to make it 5-4. Tim Salmon singled, and moved to third on a single by the pinch-hitting David Wright, and that would end the night for Johnson. Koji Uehara would relieve and strike out Campanella for the first out of the inning, but would allow the tying run to score on a wild pitch, before retiring Carlos Delgado and Jackie Robinson.

Rollie Fingers worked a scoreless eighth for the Palms, and Uehara worked a 1-2-3 ninth, to give the USA Network All-Stars a chance to win it in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the ninth.

Fingers stayed in for a second inning of relief, and gave up a leadoff triple to Hughie Jennings to put the game winning run ninety feet from home. Jennings could take all the time in the world, though, moving those ninety feet, as the pinch-hitting Hank Greenberg hit a walk-off, two-run homer to bring a win to the Bronx.

    Wednesday, Maebe 23rd

In an eerily similar script to what happened in the previous game, the bats for the Los Angles Palms came alive late, and we were set up for a dramatic ending.

There were two major differences, though. The Palms' eighth-inning rally didn't tie the game, it put them in the lead. And, the game didn't end with bang, but with a whimper.

Though, to be fair, it was a whimper most befitting this season.

Down 7-3 entering the eighth, the Palms got a pair of singles from Roy Campanella and Carlos Delgado to put runners on the corners, before a Jackie Robinson RBI ground out provided the first out of the inning. Consecutive walks to Robin Young and Manny Machado loaded the bases, and an RBI ground out from Andrew McCutcheon mad the score 7-5, but provided the second out of the inning, and gave Russ Ford a chance to escape.

Escape, he did not, though, as Ken Griffey Jr. connected on a three-run homer to right-center that not only put the Palms in the lead, it also increased the number of times @LloydChristmas calls @DarthTunick to try to trade for Griffey from three times daily to ten times daily. And, it ended the night for Ford, as Koji Uehara relieved, and popped up Tim Salmon to end the inning.

Eric Gagne - who had relieved in the seventh inning - stayed on to pitch the eighth, and got a 1-2-3 inning. Tommy Lasorda then mad the decision to not pinch hit for Gagne in the top of the ninth, allowing his closer to try to work for his fifth, sixth, and seventh outs and get the win.

Gagne did not repay that confidence.

He walked Jimmie Foxx to open the inning, and gave up a single to Rogers Hornsby, the circumstances of which meant Jose Bautista would bat with runners on the corners with nobody out. Bautista hit into a fielders choice, scoring Foxx, and tying the game, and Lasorda pulled Gagne, bringing on Felix Hernandez. Hernandez got Hughie Jennings to pop up, putting us one out away from extra innings. But, singles by the pinch hitting Hank Greenberg and the pesky Billy Hamilton loaded the bases for King Kelly.

Who walked. To score the winning run. A walk-off walk.

    Loss: Gagne (1-2)

the cleveland stadium faithful have grown accustomed to pitchers duels, and with hal newhouser on the hill for the lawfirm of hornsby and alarmo, and lady baldwin throwing for the hometown newport beach motherboys, they would get yet another one.

    at least for six innings.

a tim raines rbi triple in the fourth was matched by an rbi groundout by nap lajoie in the bottom of the sixth, and so the score stood knotted at 1 as we entered the 7th. in the top of the inning raines singled with one out and then promptly stole second. one out later, tony gwynn delivered an rbi single that put the lawfirm on top.

the hornsby and alarmo bullpen would hold the motherboys' bats in check from there, and the lawfirm would play add-on, including a three run 9th that featured rbi singles by carlton fisk, roberto alomar, and ozzie smith.

player of the game, brought to you by bluth's original frozen banana: tim raines

    final: Lawfirm 6, Motherboys 1
    win: newhouser (3-4)
    loss: baldwin (2-5)
    save: perranoski (2)

    saturday, maeby 19th

the motherboys' bats woke up in this one, as hugh duffy, george brett, ted williams, nap lajoie, and pitcher charlie ferguson all delivered two hits. duffy, brett, and norm cash all homered, as johan santana labored on the hill for the lawfirm.

after giving up a two run double to jeff bagwell in the first inning, ferguson settled in. he finally ran into trouble in the top of the 9th, and hornsby and alarmo pulled to within two runs thanks to a hank aaron two run homer. but tom hughes would come on and get a one-out save, retiring carlton fisk on a line out to second base.

player of the game, brought to you by bluth's original frozen banana: charlie ferguson

    final: Motherboys 7, Lawfirm 5
    win: ferguson (4-2)
    loss: santana (3-3)
    save: hughes (7)

    sunday, maeby 20th

the usual suspects were at it again as george brett, hugh duffy, ted williams, and nap lajoie combined for 11 hits, 7 runs scored, and 7 runs batted in. that alone was enough to power the motherboys to their second straight victory.

no one was more thankful for the runs than toad ramsey, who wasn't spectacular, but went the distance for the victory.

don drysdale was the victim of the motherboys' barrage. hank aaron doubled and drove in two in a losing effort.

player of the game, brought to you by bluth's original frozen banana: toad ramsey

    final: Motherboys 11, Lawfirm 4
    win: ramsey (2-5)
    loss: drysdale (0-5)

    monday, maeby 21st

as the scene shifted to suntrust park the lawfirm of hornsby and alarmo would turn the tables on the motherboys.

the visiting motherboys would jump out to an early lead, when bill dickey singled home hugh duffy and then norm cash scored on a john tudor wild pitch in the top of the first.

but that would be all the scoring for the motherboys. for a while it looked like it would be enough.

john clarkson had allowed only a jeff bagwell rbi double as we headed to the bottom of the sixth inning with the motherboys still clinging to a 2-1 lead. but bagwell homered in the sixth to tie the game, and then the floodgates would open.

it was hank aaron who delivered the biggest blow. with the game still tied and two out in the bottom of the 7th hammerin' hank stepped up with the bases loaded. he lifted a flyball to right that dropped into the corner and took a funny bounce. as tris speaker struggled to come up with ball aaron turned on the jets. the result was an inside-the park grand slam home run that finally broke open a close game. that spelled the end for clarkson, but the lawfirm would tack on six more runs, including an aaron rbi double and a third rbi hit from jeff bagwell.

tudor ended up having a solid game for the lawfirm, throwing 7 innings and allowing 2 runs on 7 hits.

player of the game, brought to you by carlo rossi: hank aaron

    final: Lawfirm 12, Motherboys 2
    win: tudor (3-4)
    loss: clarkson (6-5)

    tuesday, maeby 22nd

this time it was the lawfirm's turn to get on the board early, as pitcher steve carlton singled off of dave mcnally and drove in roberto alomar with the game's first run in the bottom of the 2nd.

but this time it was the motherboys' turn to break it open late.

they tied the game on a ted williams single in the 5th. then with two outs in the 6th roberto alomar and wade boggs each committed costly errors on groundballs that opened the door for a 4-run rally that put the motherboys ahead for good.

aside from the one hiccup, mcnally was brilliant, tossing 7 innings of 4-hit ball.

carlton was the hard luck loser, throwing a complete game and allowing 7 runs, but only 3 earned.

player of the game, brought to you by carlo rossi: dave mcnally

    final: Motherboys 7, Lawfirm 1
    win: mcnally (4-2)

the lawfirm of hornsby and alarmo were looking to salvage a split as the series concluded in atlanta. but this would not be their day.

hal newhouser and lady baldwin squared off in a rematch of game one, but this time newhouser could not hold the newport beach bats at bay.

ted williams and tris speaker each drove in three runs, speaker also scored three times, and nap lajoie and nomar garciaparra each scored twice, as the motherboys poured it on.

baldwin was dominant, throwing a complete game and allowing only 1 run on 6 hits. that would be enough to get the visitors the win in the game and the series, as the fans went home unhappy for the second straight day.

player of the game, brought to you by carlo rossi: tris speaker

    final: Motherboys 9, Lawfirm 1
    win: baldwin (3-5)
    loss: newhouser (3-5)

Every City Bandwagoners used five homers and a complete game shutout from Roy Halladay to get a big win to open the series against Atlanta Rohirrim.

Halladay scattered seven hits over the nine innings, walking just three and striking out ten.

Atlanta's best chance to score off of Halladay came in the first inning, as Luis Aparicio got a leadoff double and Al Rosen walked to open the game. But Halladay got Mike Sweeney to ground into a double play and retired Bret Boone to end the early threat. It was one of two double plays that Halladay induced on the day, also getting Boone to ground into one in the sixth inning, helping to preserve what was then a 1-0 lead.

That lead happened because Cal Ripken Jr. hit a solo homer with two outs in the fourth inning. Stan Musial doubled the lead with a solo homer with one out in the sixth, and later in that inning Ripken make it 5-0 with a three-run blast to left.

The Bandwagoners put the game to rest in the eighth, as Sammy Sosa hit a two-run homer to make it 7-0, and Gary Carter added another two-run homer to make it 9-0.

    Saturday, Maebe 19th

It was a familiar game for fans who attended the first game of the series. A complete game for Every City's starter. All of Every City's runs scored via the long ball. And, even though Atlanta Rohirrim made it much closer this time, a win for the Bandwagoners.

Bret Saberhagen tossed a complete game, giving up two runs on four hits, and striking out eight.

Stan Musial got the Bandwagoners on the board early, hitting a two-run homer in the first. But, Atlanta pulled one back in the fourth on an RBI double from Todd Helton, and tied it up in the fifth on an RBI double from Jim Edmonds.

But, Cal Ripken continued his ownership of Rohirrim pitching, hitting a go-ahead solo homer in the sixth, and Adrian Beltre provided the breathing room with a two-run homer in the 8th.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the Tesseract: Brett Saberhagen
    Final: Bandwagoners 5, Rohirrim 2
    Win: Saberhagen (4-2)

    Sunday, Maebe 20th

Thanks to a five-run sixth-inning, Bob Feller cruised to the eighth with a 1-0 lead, having scattered just five hits over the first seven innings.

But, in the eighth, Feller ran out of gas and ran into trouble.

Four straight walks by Feller to open the inning wasn't enough of a warning sign for Brian Snitker to make a call to the bullpen. And, after Feller retired Rod Carew on a ground out where the lead runner was thrown out at the plate, and Gary Carter on a fly out too shallow to score a run, it looked like Snitker's confidence in Feller might be repaid. But, Judge Judy sent up Vladmir Guerrero as a pinch hitter, and he smacked a two-run single to left center, and that was followed by Joe Morgan getting an RBI single to left to tie the game, and finally drive Feller out. Roger McDowell relieved and retired Stan Musial to end the inning, but the score was tied 5-5.

The bullpens would put on a clinic, as we would remain tied at give until the thirteenth inning.

Zack Greinke, in his second inning of relief, would retire Rod Carew and Gary Carter to start the inning, giving him five straight retired to start his night. But, Judge Judy would prove again that she is just as adept at managing pinch hitters as she is inept at managing bullpens. Up went Ichiro to pinch hit, and he would single, and then move to third on a single from Joe Morgan. Musial would then step to the plate, hit a groundball to short, and leg out the throw to first, getting an infield single to score the winning run and walk it off with hustle!

Back in the sixth, Rohirrim had a five-run inning to take the lead. Todd Helton hit a bases-loaded double to plate three runs, and then he scored when Willie Stargell hit a homer to left.

Player of the Game, Brought to you by the Tesseract: Stan Musial
    Final: Bandwagoners 6, Rohirrim 5 (13 innings)
    Win: Cordero (2-1)
    Loss: Greinke (2-3)

    Monday, Maebe 21st

Thirteen is proving to be quite the unlucky number for Atlanta Rohirrim.

After Bob Gibson and Zack Greinke tossed incredibly similar efforts, this would - just like the game before it - would require extra innings, and be decided in the thirteenth.

Gibson tossed seven-and-two thirds innings, allowing two runs on ten hits, and striking out eight. Greinke went seven innings, giving up two runs on just four hits.

Stan Musial had a two-run homer in the sixth to give Every City the lead, but Atlanta answered in the eighth with an RBI double from Todd Helton and an RBI single from Tony Oliva.

In the top of the thirteenth, an error from Al Rosen (his second error of the game) allowed Cal Ripken Jr. to reach base, and Mickey Mantle to score, making it 3-2 in favor of the Bandwagoners. Adrian Beltre followed with an RBI single, and after a strikeout to Rod Carew that should have ended the inning, Gary Carter added an RBI single to make it 5-2.

In the bottom of the thirteenth, Brett Boone would get an RBI double to bring Atlanta to within two, and put Rosen at the plate representing the game-tying run and a chance to make up for his error, but Rosen would pop out weakly to third and end the game.

Roy Halladay couldn't make it past one batter in the third inning.

And that put his team in too deep of an early hole to climb out.

Halladay gave up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits in just two innings pitched.

Mickey Mantle had a two-run double in the first, following an error from Edgardo Alfonzo, and Gary Carter (two-run) and Sammy Sosa (three run) each homered in the second, before a leadoff homer from Carter in the third caused Brian Snitker to go to the bullpen early.

It was 9-2 after that third inning, and a three-run homer by Brian McCann in the fifth would help the final score look better for the Rohirrim, it wouldn't actually change the outcome.

Looking for the six-game sweep, Pete Alexander took a two-nothing lead into the eighth inning.

Alexander gave up a leadoff single to Luis Aparicio and walked Al Rosen, and back-to-back RBI singles from Mike Sweeney and Willie Stargell tied the game, and chased Alexander. Relieving in a high pressure situation - two on, none out - Goose Gossage got Brett Boone to pop up, and then struck out Brian McCann and Jim Edmonds to get out of the jam.

In the ninth, Cal Ripken Jr. got a leadoff single, and then moved to third on a one-out single from Rod Carew. Ripken would then score on a sac fly from Gary Carter.

In the bottom of the ninth, Francisco Cordero would give up a single to Aparicio, but otherwise have no trouble getting the save and closing out the sweep.

Alexander delivered a strong performance - seven innings with two runs allowed on eight hits. John Smotlz gave Atlanta a complete game effort, giving up three runs on nine hits, but took the loss.

    Final: Bandwagoners 3, Rohirrim 2
