Great post, Geri. You've got me squirming in my seat in anticipation. Is Obi-Wan the stable boy? I wonder if he'll recognize Mace and Qui when they come to "inspect" the horses. Great job! Please post again soon.

Your young and vivacious master, p_stotts. [face_batting] (You'll notice that I read your last post to my story. ;)

It's about time the Force helped them towards Obi-Wan. The poor kid has probably given up after all this time and just done the best he could with his situation.

Good job. Hopefully, they will find Obi soon and get him rescued.

May the Force be with me in my quest, and may the Force protect and keep Obi-Wan strong until I find him.

    I second that!!

I'm glad Gerota has accepted Qui-Gon and Mace...at least for now.

And I certainly hope they find the slaves before anyone gets shipped off planet.

    Great update

I'm caught up now. It's been a while since I've been able to really read, though I have gotten the PM's. Thank you for those. :)

It appears that Mace and Qui may just find Obi-Wan, that is if he's Gerota's stable boy. [face_praying]

Keep 'em coming! I'm anxious to find out what happens. ;)

You are an excellent friend and thank you for having eagle eyes.O:)

I don?t know about an Obi- centric chapter.[face_thinking] But, I do think he?s worth every piece of 40,000 credits.

    ooo

Qui-Gon glanced out the window as the servants escorted them to their rooms in Gerota?s mansion. He could see the large outbuilding in the shadows of some fig trees and he shivered, a disquieting feeling came over him. He shook his head to clear the unsettling sensation. He knew he had to keep his concentration in the here and now. They had a mission to complete.

Another window loomed up ahead and he couldn?t help himself. The building off in the distance fascinated him and he couldn?t take his eyes off it. Something about it made him feel anxious and disturbed. He was so distracted that he nearly crashed into Mace when he stopped at the door of their rooms.

The accommodations they?d been given were lavishly decorated and consisted of a common room two connecting bedrooms and a fresher. Their first task was to check out the rooms for listening devices and hidden camera?s. Qui-Gon checked the common room and the fresher; he was relieved that there weren?t any devices and his gaze was drawn to a basket of fruit on a low table. He sat down on the couch and picked up a muju, rolling it in his large hands. Master Yoda had told him once that Obi-Wan loved fruit, especially muju fruit. He sighed putting the piece back in the bowl.

?I think we've achieved the first part of our plan, Qui. The apartment is free from devices and I don?t sense any feeling of mistrust or doubt from Gerota, about our cover identities. Everything is going to plan and in a few days we should have enough information to put him and his associates out of business.?

    ?Ummm?Yes, I hope so.?

?Qui, my friend, what is it? You seem like a man who has a lot on his mind??

?I?m not sure, Mace. There?s something about Gerota. I?ve been around slavers before and yet this one turns my stomach every time I see him. He?s a Zygerian and I can?t help but remember that Obi-Wan was sold to a Zygerian slaver. There are hundreds of slaves here on Bindley. What if Obi-Wan is one of them??

?Oh Qui, I thought you?d forgotten about him. It?s been three years. He?s dead! You must let him go. There?s no way that he is alive!?

?No, Mace, he?s not dead! I know it! I would?ve felt it, even though I didn?t have a very good bond with him. I?m sure I would?ve felt it if he?d passed into the Force. I won?t give up hope. He?s out there somewhere and I ?will- find him one day.?

?Qui-Gon, I can?t believe what you?re saying. Do you know how hard we?ve worked to end this slaving syndicate? You make me feel like calling this whole deal off. We?re here to put this man out of business. If I?d known you were looking for Obi-Wan in every slave we see, I would?ve recommended another Jedi to come with me! Are you deliberately trying to annoy me! Because, if

You've got to stop picking up my bad cliffie habits, Padawan! Geez, talk about suspense. I hope Gerota doesn't demonstrate that torture device on Obi in front of Qui, or I have a feeling the jig will be up, so to speak. Great job, Geri. =D=

I'm not liking Mace too much at the moment. [face_frustrated] :p The Jedi don't even have proof of Obi-Wan's death and here the man is talking about it like they lit the pyre and everything. I'm glad Qui-Gon is holding onto hope and not listening to his superior.

I too hope Gerota doesn't use that torture device on Obi-Wan. [face_worried]

    ooo

The boy had been watching them from his place in the loft. He saw them leave the mansion and walk down to the track. As usual, his Master was drunk and he knew that eventually, Gerota would bring his friends to the stables. He crouched down near the doorway and his eyes followed their movements. They were heading towards the arena and the boy cringed at the thought of what lurked in that horrible place.

Abruptly, the track lights came on and the boy?s fear spiked. He ducked down out of sight because the lights shone into the loft and if he wasn?t careful; his Master would see him spying on them. He heard them talking and one of them raised his voice slightly saying ?Rancors.? Something about that man?s voice terrified him and his body tensed up. He crept over to the wall and peered out through a hole.

They were standing in the shadow of a fig tree and he couldn?t see the men?s faces, but both of them were very tall and quite solidly built. His young heart began pumping faster as his anxiety levels increased. Something about those men made him shudder. A memory caused him to rub an old scar on his side, of a time when two pirates similar in stature to the men standing below him, had stolen him from his Master and almost killed him. He didn?t think he could go through that pain again and as the men and his Master started to walk towards the barn, he felt trapped like a defenceless animal.
He felt heat rise throughout his body and he wanted to run away. He always felt like hiding when his Master brought people to see him, nevertheless, he wouldn?t dare hide from his Master, but this time his stomach seemed to be twisting up in knots. These two men were more dangerous than his Master was. Somehow, he just knew that they may be the cause of his death.

    ooo

Qui glanced up to the loft as Gerota called out and a skinny boy appeared at the top of the ladder, stepping down the rungs quickly. He had a mop of hair covering his head, which hung down at odd lengths around his shoulders and over his face. His bone structure was that of a young boy, probably no more than fifteen at the most. His back and arms were scarred, proving he?d received some severe beatings in his time as a slave.
The boy fell to his knees in front of Gerota, with his back to them and Qui-Gon examined very part of the boy?s body with his eyes. His pants, if you could call them that were torn and threadbare, barely covering his thighs. They were the only clothing he had on and his feet were bare. A piece of chain dangled down to his chest and he had metal bands around his wrists and ankles and a very large scar running across his body just under his ribs.
There were long pieces of multicoloured hair attached with clamps to the boys own sandy hair. Qui-Gon clenched his fists and released his disgust at the boy?s condition to the Force.

Gerota smirked as he yanked the boy?s hair. ?He was such a bargain and I couldn?t believe my good luc

Qui is having a rather difficult time controlling himself. It's good that Mace is there to help him keep his cool. At least until the slave's identity is revealed, then what will he do? Will he be able to remain calm and do his duty or will he put the mission aside and take Obi-Wan out of there?

If the slave is Obi-Wan, does he remember the Jedi? It sounded as though he remembered Qui's name. [face_thinking]

Oh. My. Gods! Do you want to give your old master a heart attack? How will Qui and Mace react when they see it's Obi-Wan. Will Obi recognize them or has he completely forgotten his old life? I know, I know! Obi will use the Force to save Qui and/or Mace in some way. Lots of ways this could turn out, but in the end, it better turn out that Qui and Obi are reunited as master/padawan. [face_frustrated] You hear me, Padawan? o_O Don't allow Sith Lolly_Tolly and her death wish for Obi-Wan to influence your story. ;) Stand strong in the light! Make me proud! :D

    ooo

Qui-Gon stiffened and time froze as he gazed at a very familiar visage. He?d lost the innocence of youth, and dark circles under his eyes made him look older than his nearly sixteen years, but it was Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Qui-Gon tried to keep his face passive, though he wasn?t sure if it was working. He wanted nothing more than to take the boy in his arms and protect him from this vicious slaver.
Mace felt his own mouth gape open in stunned amazement. It ?WAS- Obi-Wan! Mace quickly recovered and fixed his gaze on Gerota.
?No wonder you keep him hidden. You have described him perfectly. What do you think Qui? Have you ever seen such an innocent face?? Mace nudged Qui-Gon, who looked like he was going to cry.

Qui-Gon finally tore his eyes from his padawan. ?He is very pleasing to look at. You are one lucky man. I?ve been searching for years, to find a boy like yours!?

Gerota looked very pleased with himself. ?Ha! You won?t find one like him. He?s one of a kind and he?s all mine. So don?t get any ideas about taking him from me! Let me tell you, I nearly lost him six months ago when a rival slave cartel tried to take over my Southern business. That Bantha sent two pirates to steel my boy! They found the tracking device implanted in him and dug it out. See the gaping hole they left in him!? Gerota pointed to the nasty looking scar just under Obi-Wan?s ribcage. ?It took me three days to find him - he was nearly dead. Nevertheless, my healer managed to bring him back from the dead and my business has grown because of it. We killed the rival and claimed all his slaves.? Gerota grinned as he patted Obi-Wan?s head. ?He?s my good luck charm.?

Obi-Wan had a lost and defeated expression on his
