Dune - Atreides and Harkonnen by zazB on DeviantArt "I've been wanting to do a Dune fan art for a while! I might do Fremen and Sardaukars in the future. / To me, Dune is part swashbuckling adventure and that's why I was influenced by musketeers, dragoons and hussars for those designs. They have to be proudly wearing their houses colors "

Dune - House Harkonnen by cwalton73 on DeviantArt ""I will have Arrakis back for myself! He who controls the Spice controls the universe and what Piter did not tell you is we have control of someone who is very close, very close, to Duke Leto! This person, this traitor, will be worth more to us than ten legions of Sardaukar! I know Dr. Yueh is "technically" a member of House Atreides, but he's a damn traitor. The main thing I'm hoping for in this film is that it will have at least some component which is genuinely weird.
I think you just made it click for me why I've been so-so on the stuff we've seen so far. ... Well, okay, that and that Pink Floyd cover, yikes.
I don't need Dune to be odd, don't want anyone to try to retrace Jodorowsky or Lynch trodden ground, but I definitely don't want that Pink Floyd cover in the actual movie.
Well fine, but my feelings are mixed as one of the reasons I got HBO Max was because of debuts via streaming.
I'm not entirely sure there will be any movie theaters left in my neighborhood to show the film by October. Classic Lake Cinemas is now showing HBO Max and Netflix movies: Those Who Wish Me Dead and Army of the Dead. The nearly-post-covid theater reopening movie theme is: death!
My local movie theater down the street, a small theater, does arty shows, and classic movies tuesdays, as well as all the latest releases, has been selling concessions all year just to survive. Popcorn, candy, nachoes, and ice-cream. Went in there this weekend to introduce my son to soft-serve, and the place was so eery. All the posters were of movies that were supposed to come out Summer 2020, but never did. Very post apocalyptical.
Movie concessions takeout/delivery seems like a genius pandemic business model. For an extra $5 the delivery boy will pour Milk Duds and stale popcorn all over your living room floor.
Well - they claimed that LOTR couldnt be filmed and Jackson pulled it off perfectly. I hope thats the same for Dune which is also on the "impossible to film" list. Lynch is a great film maker but his version was clearly bad. We shall see. I love what Denis did with Blade Runner 2049 so maybe he can pull this off.
