Interesting episode tonight until guest director David Lynch stepped in for the nicely but perfectly weirdly intrusive dream sequence.
Made us miss a good hit. Although Anette Bening's presence was hilarious.

I can't believe they didn't get Michael J Anderson in the dream at some point.
The dream thing wasn't to bad, but it lasted for to long.

Oh dear. TB shot the Leotardo brothers. This is definitely gonna be nasty, and it could lead to Tony allying with Little Carmine against Jonny Sac.

Somehow I forsee Tony B taking out the big T in an alliance with New York, which will set the stage for the war between TB and Chrissy for season 6.

    Just a thought...

I think Tony S. is going to be fine for the time being. It's his show after all.

I would think that Tony B. or Chistopher will get taken out.

Does anyone want to take a shot at analyzing the dream? I was going to but I am still to hung over.

*I am sure the "be prepared" thing will factor in.

*The teeth, well the jury is still out on that

*The horse reminded me of MacDowell in Caligula.

    What will happen?
*I still think it's odd that the whole FBI Adriana thing has fizzled out, perhaps it will come back when we are least expecting it.
*I don't see Buschemi around for another year so his time is up.
*Watch Sack take out Carmine Jr and completely screw up Tony's plans.

Could Tony be going to be a New York Boss at the end of the season?

I would love to see Chrissy get it, but they would have done it already if they were going to do it.

I think he and Adrianna are going to do the witness protection program, or at least she will.

And Tony B will get it. He's lied to Tony twice now, he will get it.

And the off-screen shooting of the guy was bad because we don't know all the names of all the NY guys. The guy who got whacked by Tony B off screen is the older guy who helped with the whacking of Tony B's biddy from prison earlier in the Ep, right? The guy with white hair who shot the guy in the trunk under the plastic?

    Madine out

No, it was Phil Leotardo's son that died. Phil was apparantly wounded.

Anyone think that Tony will sanction the hit on Tony B. ? Itd be pretty hard for him not to, but at the same time Id be shocked if he didnt survive the season.

I'm starting to toy with this idea ..

How else could he make things right with Sack ,IF Sack himself isn't whacked?

Some of the dream sequences- three in particular- were clear allusions to Godfather....

    1. Tony at the restaraunt, looking for a gun behind a toilet and Carmella making a remark about him not coming out with his uh, canoli (not her word, mine) in his hand... Clearly an allusion to the killing of Barzini and the cop..

Who is Barzini, the dangerous power hungry interloper? Sack or Tony B?

    2. Tony riding around in the countryside, seated behind Bompasero and ralphie- alludes to Clemenza 's execution of a rat - Paulie- in Godfather 1

    3. the scene at the boat dock- seems to be an allusion to fredo's death in Godfather II....

All in all a bizarre episode but hardly lame.

I couldn't help but laugh when Tony was nailing Charmaine, with Artie cheering him on...

I do, however, wish they showed Leotardo's son get whacked.

We have to remember that Tony told Johhny Sack he was with Tony B on the night of the murder, that means even if he were to kill Tony B, he still gave his word to Johhny and that obviously would be never trusted again.

With only a few episodes left, it makes me wonder if this is all a build up to an all out war next season?

I only saw the 2nd of Sopranos last night, I was at a wake, just a couple of observations/ questions about the dream sequence:

    1. I had thoughts of when Tony had food poisoning, and realized Pussy was a rat. W/ this in mind, I figure he would some how figue out Adrianna.

    2. When Tony B 'killed' Phil, was it similiar to the hit from A Bronx Tale?

    3. Was Annette Bening a reference to Bugsy?

    4. Where does the teeth come from, it has to be a reference to some movie?

    5. Wonder why there was so much focus on Its a Wonderful Life? Especially when you consider this season is set during the summer.

    6. I also thought it was very interesting how he viewed himself as a monster following the 'hit' on Phil. The way the people were chasing him, especially those w/ lanterns, was dead on Frankenstien.

Once I get home from work, I am going to watch the episode again, on On Demand.

Phil wasnt the one who was whacked. It was his son, Billy, who Tony B. got to, but apparently Phil was injured, too.

The really should've showed it, though.

In the dream, Tony B. killed Phil.

And I wonder what Tony S. is not prepared for

The dream sequence was magnificent, I watched it again last night and I think it's a road map of where the series is going, some great hints in there.

One possible spoiler, if you watch the preview after the show, you will notice some very interesting dialog by Johnny Sack at the end of the teaser, he clearly says "Now we are even."
Now we all can put it together that Tony B is going to get the treatment, but notice the actor featured right before Johnny says this prolific line. I don't think Tony B is the only one that's going to go.

I took the "be prepared" thing to mean he wasn't prepared for death- His life's a mess, he's stressed out, he has no wife...He hasn't left on top.

I don't think the teeth thing was a gangster movie allegory, I think it's a common(or semi-common) dream , like falling or flying. I'll look it up afterwards.

Tony B and Tony are heading for a clash, but I can't tell if it's this season or next. The "I'm the Boss" plaque won't go over too well with Tony S. And see how he wouldn't get the Coke himself...Tony B has no fear, and that's one thing Tony S can't have.

    My bad.

    I meant Solozzo.

I should be whacked for making an incorrect Godfather analogy.

Barzini would be Sack, SOlozzo was the free agent that served as the catalyst for the war so he'd represent Tony B

Might as well be Silvio, since they've done nothing with him this season :( .

    HOLY $H!+

What an excellent, episode. There were parts that I found myself on the edge my couch.

    Three murders - 1 Major

    And the War Has Started

This could be the best episode this year

I agree, this was a great episode tonight. Even though they set it up I honestly wasnt expecting Adriana to go so soon. Surprised to see Silvio do the deed since he rarely (if ever) does hits, but I guess it has to be him or suspicions would've been aroused. I also liked how Tony basically said **** off to Johnny Sack. He's choosing his real family over The Family, and I think its safe to say that the war with New York has just about officially begun. And speaking of Tony B, Im glad that they showed Billy Leotardo's murder (even if it was a flashback).

If the finale is as good (or better) than tonight's episode than that could go a long way to validating the season as a whole.

And, of course, right when things start getting really crazy we have to wait two weeks for the finale. Grrrr !! :p

Just wanted to re-state how excellent all three murders were. Makes Tony B seem like a total crazy mofo.

Plus I wonder how they will spin Ade's 'disappearance'? Will they say she had cold feet?

by far the best episode this season. the whole chrisptopher/adrianna subject was done beautifully. i really thought that perhaps christopher did try to committ suicide.

as far the the season finale. oh my god i wonder who is going to die and who is not. something tells me some major character are going to die. and 1 character i think will not die is chripstoher i think he will prove himself to tony.

I get the feeling that Christopher may go a bit far too prove his loyalty by whacking Tony B. The more I think about it, Buscemi's probably done on the show either way you slice it. Even if he doesnt get whacked I cant see him coming back to New Jersey ever again, if only because he'd be a constant target for New York. Just like Jackie Jr, I dont see Tony B. getting a pass over what he did. Tony is obviously willing to give him one but Johnny Sack wont. If he's smart he'll stay away from New Jersey and never return.

I knew Carmella was going to take Tony back. All it cost him was $600,000 and a promise to not flaunt his cheating. She's such a phony.

The War is here and it's going to be nasty. [face_devil]
