    The Star Wars

In another time, long before the Empire, and before the Republic had been formed, a holy man called the Skywalker became aware of a powerful energy field which he believed influenced the destiny of all living creatures. After much study, he was able to know the Force of Others, and it communicated with him. He came to see things in a new way. His “aura” and powers grew very strong. The Skywalker brought a new life to the people of his system, and became one of the founders of the Republic Galactica.

The Force of Others has two halves: Ashla, the good, and Bogan, the paraforce or evil part. Fortunately, Skywalker came to know the good half and was able to resist the paraforce; but he realized that if he taught others the way of the Ashla, some, with less strength, might come to know Bogan, the dark side, and bring unthinkable suffering to the Universe. For this reason, the Skywalker entrusted the secret of the Force only to his twelve children, and they in turn passed on the knowledge only to their children, who became known as the Jedi Bendu of the Ashla: “the servants of the Force”. For thousands of years, they brought peace and justice to the galaxy. At one time, before the tragic Holy Rebellion, there were several hundred Jedi families, but now these legendary warriors are all but extinct.

As the Republic spread throughout the galaxy, encompassing over a million worlds, the Great Senate grew to such overwhelming proportions that it no longer responded to the needs of its citizens. After a series of assassinations and elaborately rigged elections, the Great Senate became secretly controlled by ruthless trader barons driven by greed and the lust for power. When the Jedi discovered the conspiracy and attempted to purge the Senate, they were denounced as traitors. Several Jedi allowed themselves to be tried and executed, but most of them fled into the Outland systems and tried to tell people of the conspiracy. But the elders chose to remain behind, and the Great Senate diverted them by creating civil disorder. The Senate secretly instigated race wars, and aided anti-government terrorists. They slowed down the system of justice, which caused the crime rate to rise to the point where a totally controlled and oppressive police state was welcomed by the systems. The Galactic Empire was born. The systems were exploited by a new economic policy which raised the cost of power and transport to unbelievable heights. Many worlds were destroyed this way. Many people starved.

The Force of Others was unable to help the Jedi Bendu make things right because a terrible thing had happened. During one of his lessons a young Padawan-Jedi, a boy named Darklighter, came to know the evil half of the Force, and fell victim to the spell of the dreaded Bogan. He ran away from his instructor and taught the evil ways of the Bogan Force to a clan of Sith pirates, who then spread untold misery throughout the systems. They became the personal bodyguards of the Emperor. The Jedi were hunted down by these deadly Sith Knights. With every Jedi death, contact with the Ashla grows weaker, and the Bogan grows more powerful.

The remaining Jedi are hidden; but many are still fighting to free the systems from the grip of the Empire. It is now a period of civil wars in the galaxy. The Empire has begun to crumble into lawless barbarism. From the celestial equator to the farthest reaches of the Great Rift, seventy small solar systems have united in common war against the tyranny of the Empire. Under the command of a mighty Jedi warrior known as the Starkiller, the Rebel Alliance has won a crushing victory over the deadly Imperial Starfleet. The Emperor knows that one more such defeat will bring a thousand more solar systems into the rebellion, and Imperial control of the Outland systems could be lost forever…

    3. The game is an AU based on Lucas's second draft ("Adventures of the Starkiller") for what would eventually become A New Hope. However, you are free to play as a character originating from Canon or Legends, as long as their background is modified to take the above backstory into account. You can also take details from Canon or Legends, you are not just limited to the old drafts. You can even mention the Clone Wars if you want, since this can be a mish-mash of what could have been Star Wars and what ultimately became Star Wars. Year-wise this game takes place in what would be 0 BBY in the main timeline.
    4. Combo posts with another player must be approved by the GM before, with them copied in.
    5. Multiple characters are allowed.
    6. Play nice, be civil, etc.

Alongside his consort, Queen Bellorum Graul, the world and its people flourish under Aryan’s benevolent authority. It has been an era of peace, partly due to Graul’s insistence to remain neutral against the growing conflict beyond their stars. The galaxy is at war, but the Aquilean people will not yield.

But beneath the facade, beneath the pretense of impartiality, Aryan Graul harbors fugitives. Concealed from the ever-watchful eye of the evil Empire and its tyrannical Emperor, a group of displaced Jedi Knights calls Aquilae home. The world has become a safe haven for all who adhere to the Force’s teachings, including allies and refugees. It’s Aryan’s way of helping the war effort, albeit in secret.

However, it will soon become increasingly more difficult to keep the underground movement shielded from the public eye, especially now that his daughter, Lia, turns 18 and prepares for an apprenticeship in the Senate.

Bellorum met Aryan when they were children, he was the son of the Monarch, and Bell’s parents were high ranking politicians in the Aquilae High Senate. He was older than her, but they seemed to enjoy the same interests. Besides, the children of politicians were often together while the parents attended state dinners, and other events, so they knew got to know each other well.

One evening after a cocktail party in honor of visiting dignitaries, the King had Bell and her parents take one of his transports to their home. Their transport was having mechanical issues, so the King’s gracious offer was most welcome. They were barely off the palace grounds when the vehicle exploded, killing her parents and Bellorum was critically injured. She was only 10 years old, and was now alone except for some distant family members.

Days later, Bellorum woke in the hospital with Queen Ashaiya Graul holding her hand. She stayed with Bellorum through her recovery, and was with her when she was told about her parents.

An aunt Bell had never met claimed her and took the child away to her home, away from her friends and everyone she knew.

Thankfully Bellorum’s parents had been very specific about her care and when she was old enough, she returned to her home to attend university. Bell was then of age and broke all ties with those who had moved her away only to collect the funds set aside for her care.

It was at school that Bellorum ran in Aryan again, literally. She had been late for a class when she was practically running down the corridor, there was a sharp turn into a long line of lecture halls and that’s where she ran into her childhood friend. Her datapad flew out of her grasp, and the petite Bell had been caught in the strong arms of Prince Aryan Graul. His guards were immediately at his side and tried pulling Bell off of the Prince, but they had already recognized each other and were embracing each other.

The Prince ordered his guards back and soon the two were inseparable.

    To Ashaiya’s delight they married.

Today Aryan is the reigning Monarch, and Bellorum his Queen. They are the parents of three children: Lia 18, Joren 16, Arek 13.

    Chapter One

Alderaan: Capital of the Galactic Empire

Over a sea of billowing white oxide clouds on the gaseous planet of Alderaan was the Imperial city. The magnificent domed and gleaming city was perched, mushroom-like, on a tall spire, which disappeared deep into the misty surface of the planet. The peacefulness of this nebulous idyll was broken by the increasing wail of ion engines. Four sleek Stardestroyers, from the Imperial Third Fleet, burst out of the huge cumulus range. The craft are flying in a tight formation as they bank steeply, and head toward the Imperial capital of the galaxy.

Stardestroyers were two-man spacecraft crammed with sophisticated electronic weaponry. The pilot and gunnery officers sat side-by-side, surrounded by lighted readouts and switches. They wore the gleaming black uniforms of the Empire. The positions of the ships were displayed on a readout, along with a graphic representation of the city.

“All right, boys,” said the pilot of one of the Stardestroyers. “Let’s impress our Emperor. Count: three, two, one, now!”

The Stardestroyers screamed toward the Plaza of the Daders, where the Emperor was preparing to address his military officers, his ruling bureaucrats, and the curious.

On a huge, austere platform overlooking the plaza stood the dark Emperor, Lord of Alderaan, Consul to the Supreme Tribunal, and ruler of the Galactic Empire. He was a thin, gray looking man, with an evil mustache which hung limply over his insipid lip.

    The Emperor

Standing at rigid attention on his right were several generals, dressed in the black and gray uniform of the realm. Five members of the Supreme Tribunal sat off to the side. On the Emperor’s left stood Crispin Hoedaack, newly appointed Governor of the Aquilaean Systems, a young, treacherous man with stone-cut, angular features and piercing gray eyes.

    Crispin Hoedaack

“The crowd has been here since morning, Your Highness,” Hoedaack whispered to the Emperor. “They anxiously await your words.”

And anxious they were, since word of the Rebel Alliance’s crushing victory over the Imperial Starfleet had reached even here. All of the Empire awaited to see how their leader would respond to the crisis. Both Hoedaack and the Emperor were fully aware that the stability of the Empire was now at stake.

“Do not fret, Governor Hoedaack,” the Emperor reassured the Governor. “My words - my words! - will fill them with divine purpose. And don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about your… promotion.”

They all gazed skyward as the four gleaming Stardestroyers flew low overhead in an impressive barrel-roll formation. As the sound of the spacecraft resonated throughout the glass canyon of the Plaza, the group of dignitaries returned their attention to the parade of Imperial shock troops and giant air tanks, which rode magically two to three feet above the ground.

The Plaza of the Dader was filled with a hundred rows of troops as the last brigade marched into position. The sound of a thousand men snapping to attention was followed by a strange silence. A light wind blew the great red banner of the Empire, creating a subtle flapping sound. The Emperor’s amplified voice startled many of the troops as it cut through the quiet.

“Upon this battle depends the survival of the Galactic Empire,” he began. “Upon this battle depends the life and long continuity of our civilization. Not since the great Holy Rebellion has our destiny been placed in such a balance. This is to be the most magnificent campaign of all! You have never been called without doing something to be remembered, something notable and striking. The conquering of the Aquilaean System, the last of the independent systems, and the last refuge of the outlawed, vile sect of the Jedi, will have such important and lasting consequences, that I can’t but consider it as an epoch in history.”

The Aquilaean System was not one of the seventy solar systems that made up the Rebel Alliance, not officially at the very least. The reigning monarchs of the planet had been pretty adamant about their neutrality in the growing conflict. And yet despite this, word had reached the Empire that Aquilae had been secretly helping the war effort by harboring Jedi fugitives. This, of course, would not stand. Not with control of the Outland systems contested as it was. A message needed to be sent. But Aquilae was also too valuable to be destroyed and the Emperor knew that this was the perfect excuse to secure a truly great prize for the Empire with Aquilae’s treasure of biotic science.

“I have personally asked the Aquilaeans to accept this Treaty of Alliance,” the Emperor continued. “During the long period of negotiation, they have only decided to be undecided. We will barter no longer. Governor Hoedaack has been appointed the First Lord of the Aquilaean System and Surrounding Territories. This will be the final stone in the great wall of the Galactic Empire.”

The troops began to salute and cheer at this statement.

“Long live the Emperor!” they chanted. “Death to the Jedi!”

Following this speech, the Emperor escorted Hoedaack inside, where the high-pitched laughter of the evil Governor echoed all the way to the large, white-on-white executive quarters.

“Success!” Hoedaack told the Emperor. “It is like I told you, Your Highness. This system will bring us more scientific wealth than any other we’ve conquered before, you’ll see!”

“You still have a system to conquer, Governor Hoedaack,” the Emperor reminded him. “And don’t underestimate the armies of Aquilae. They are rumored to be led by the Jedi. Which is why I will not be sending you to Aquilae alone.”

The Emperor gestured to the doors of the executive quarters as they opened and a third man came in.

    Valin Draco

“Governor, meet Valin Draco,” the Emperor introduced. “A member of my guard. He came highly recommended by Prince Valorum himself, since Lord Vader is busy elsewhere hunting down those hidden rebel fortresses while we focus on acquiring the jewel that is Aquilae.”

Hoedaack looked over the crimson-robed figure that had entered the room, unsure what to make of him. “U-uh, hello,” he greeted.

    Aquilae: Palace of Lite

A low, sleek landspeeder glided into the courtyard of the palace of Aquilae. The planet was desert wilderness, but the palace was a sparkling oasis, with low concrete walls and great turrets spilling over with foliage from rooftop gardens. The speeder stopped before an enormous shaded corridor. Fountains lined the beautiful and highly polished, tiled walkway. Two teenage boys, Joren and Arek, were helped out of the speeder by Amber, a one-armed bodyguard dressed in the flowing white robes of the Aquilaean military. The two boys ran through the long corridors, their footsteps echoing throughout the palace.

The echoing footsteps could even be heard in the palace library, a dim, cool room projecting an aura of time-worn comfort and security. One of the aides shuts the partially closed door so as not to interrupt an emergency meeting of the Aquilaean High Senate.

Twelve men sat in overstuffed chairs, placed in a large circle. Included in the meeting was a large, sallow-eyed galactic trader named Aay Zavos, a caped noble named Count Sandage, a thin, birdlike Senator named Mir Nash, and the Grande Mouff Tarkin, who wore the long, black robes of the Aquilean religion.

King Aryan Graul presided over the meeting while holding his royal scepter, which had an ornate pommel that glowed due to the Kyber crystal infused inside. Sitting right next to him was his wife Queen Bellorum Graul.

    Aryan Graul

    Bellorum Graul

For years, Aquilae and its people had flourished under the benevolent authority of the Grauls. It had been an era of peace, but despite Aquilae’s efforts to remain impartial while the galaxy remained at war, word had reached Alderaan that Aquilae was a safe haven for all who adhered to the teachings of the Force. When the Alderaan had learned of this, they demanded that Aquilae surrender its fugitives over to the Empire and accept an alliance with the Empire or risk open war.

Hence the reason for this meeting.

“My Lord, the Chrome Companies are with you in spirit,” Zavos said to Aryan while fiddling nervously with a small scrap of leather. “But you must understand, they can’t openly support you.... Imperial trade restrictions are very unfavorable, and we of course, favor your independence.”

“We have no choice but to approve the Treaty!” Sandage argued. “If there is war, the Empire will destroy our entire system with a snap of the finger.”

Everyone turned to the King and Queen of Aquilae, awaiting their response.

IC: Valin Draco - a magnificent combo with the GM!
    The Emperor's Presence

He had strode with purpose since his summoning.

Valin Draco had been called upon by the Emperor, and he had purpose, as he stepped through the palace.

All who existed in this reality bowed to him, because he had orders from the Emperor.

    Valin was full of pride.

Ever since he had acted to the benefit of Prince Valorum, he had known, one day, he would be apart of the Emperor's Guard, and he would be purpose incarnate. Whatever Lord Vader aspired to be to the Emperor - dark savior, braggart, arrogance defined - Valin would be more, and better, for his Emperor and the Empire.

Lingering outside, hungering for the electric touch of utter and complete certainty, Valin closed his eyes and shivered with excitement.

    He heard his cue.

As soon as he crossed the threshold into the Emperor's dominion, Valin's mind shifted, he was no longer imbued with divine purpose, he was in the presence of divinity.

He lowered his eyes from the Emperor's brilliance and dropped to one knee.

    "Your Majesty."

He would not address the Emperor until he was allowed to do so.

A governor was nothing to the Emperor's magnificence.

The Emperor nodded at Valin when he saw the Sith Knight drop to one knee.

"You may rise, Knight," he allowed, though not before taking a moment to enjoy the power he felt. The Sith were, after all, the most feared and powerful warriors in the galaxy. And here was one, knelt before him in acknowledgement of the real power in the universe.

Not the Sith. Not their Force of Others. Him.

The Emperor almost smiled, even if he knew that someone like Prince Valorum or Lord Vader would never kneel like this. Vader knelt only for his master and Valorum... well, he knelt for no one.

Governor Hoedaack bowed his head respectfully. "Knight," he said. If he was uncomfortable with the idea of Valin accompanying him to Aquilae, he didn't show it.

"Do you understand the assignment, Knight?" the Emperor asked Valin. "How you are supposed to ensure the Governor's... peaceful transfer of power?"

That time he allowed himself to smile.

Valin nodded. "By whatever means necessary, your Majesty."

He looked up, his eyes shining with conviction.

    "Anything less would be treason."

His gaze drifted marginally towards the Governor, and then back to the Emperor.

The Emperor looked pleased, while the Governor's face betrayed a trace of uncertainty.

"Mark my words, Governor," the Emperor told the Governor. "You will be needing a Sith. I have heard from my agents that one of the Jedi allied with the Aquilaens is Mace Windy himself."

The Governor gaped at this. After all, it was Mace Windy who attempted to assassinate the Emperor during the Holy Rebellion, only to be stopped by Prince Valorum.

"You mean he wasn't hunted down like the others?" Hoedaack asked in shock. "I thought he was dead..."

The Emperor shook his head. "No. Mace Windy is too dangerous, too clever..." He turned to Valin. "I am sure you understand how delicately you will need to handle this task."

Valin's eyes widened in surprise, and then awe that he had been entrusted with such a task.

He stood to attention. "I understand, your Majesty. Mace Windy will accept our invitation to the Empire." He bowed over hand. "Or else."

He was not a sycophant, no.

    He was a zealot.

He believed in the divine right of Emperorship.

    Of this Emperor.

"I expect nothing less," the Emperor said as he looked down at Valin. The part about Mace Windy accepting their invitation into the Empire was interesting. Most Sith Knights would have just promised him the Jedi's head.

But of course, Valin wasn't always a Sith Knight, was he?

The Emperor remembered what Valorum had told him about Valin. What Valin has been long ago...

He turned to Governor Hoedaack. "You can go, Governor," he said. "Prepare your invasion."

Hoedaack nodded and left, though not before turning to glance at his Emperor and the Sith one last time. Then the door slid shut and the two men were alone.

The Emperor walked over to a large window that granted him a view of the city. His city.

"What do you know of the Aquilaens, Knight?" he asked, his back turned to Valin.

The Sith Knight glowered at the back of the Governors head, before tearing his eyes back to the Emperor's brilliance.

"Rebels, disruptors, peace lovers who court chaos."

The Emperor shook his head. "All that is true... but they are also a brilliant people."

He turned to Valin. "They are geniuses of biotic science. Genetics, cloning – they've added two hundred years to a lifespan. Imagine if we had that technology."

Imagine if he had that technology. Immortality certain had an appeal....

"No matter what, the culture has to remain intact. Remember, you must capture at least one member of the Royal Family alive. The Aquilae family has ruled this system for ten thousand years. The people will follow no other. If the royal line is broken, there is a good chance the entire population will destroy themselves and their knowledge before submitting to our rule. And that can not happen. Understand?"

Draco nodded, a quick chop of his head. "I understand, my Emperor."

He slammed his fist into this chest above his heart, indicating that he would give his all to the effort.

"I will not fail you, of that you can be assured."

    A slight hesitation.

"Do you have any separate instructions as to the Governor, if he proves... unwilling to pursue the campaign to victory?"

The Emperor smiled. "That won't be necessary, Knight," he reassured Valin. "Governor Hoedaack is a man driven by ambition, he will see this through in order to secure his own promotion. He is not what I’m concerned about. The Jedi are. Do I make myself clear, Knight?"

"Of course, your Majesty." He bowed over hand again, then had one further question. "Should I eschew capturing Jedi for killing them, in the circumstances?"

"I will leave that judgement to you," the Emperor said before be turned his back to Valin. "You... were a Jedi once, weren't you, Knight?"

He shuddered. "Yes, my Lord. They failed you, and I could not abide it."

Draco dropped to one knee and bowed his head lower than ever before.

"A thousand apologies for the conduct of my kin, they are traitors of the very worst kind, and Windy the most vile of them."

The Emperor nodded, his back still turned to Valin. "Yes, traitors..." he mused. "But do not apologize on their behalf, Knight. You are above that."

He raised his hand. "You may go. I am sure that the Prince will want to have a word with you before you leave for Aquilae."

"The Prince?!" Draco guarded his reaction as best he could, keeping his face down until he was sure his reaction was controlled.

Standing, he smiled, resolute in his belief in the divine man before him. "I shall serve with all of my heart, your Majesty."

He turned, bidden to leave and empowered by purpose.
