my faith has improved a bit in the biden admin that they can maybe get some things done, and i can also feel the misogyny from the republicans in a way i never had before... ever since the overturning of roe i feel smaller, weaker, and more afraid. i think it's possible i'm not alone in this and that this combo of getting something done + the republicans actually taking action to remove rights with the threat to remove more might really change things. it may be foolish but since november is approaching i am turning my orientation towards optimism bc pessimism is always a loser.

i do wish the democrats would message more that it isn't just bad guy trump, it's the entire party, that the threat doesn't end if the specter of trump fades, because someone else will pick it up. it is no longer trump alone. it is a fascist movement.

eta: and it's not just roe... it's things like TX and FL attacks on LGBTQ people, it's everything... they've been forced to show their hand and it's time to pounce

 

@Oncfar Again it sounds incredible to say but most likely this congress/president is most likely the most substantial in a generation. Granted the bar is really frickening low but still it is quite an accomplishment. And just like the Congress of 65/66 they are going to most likely get wipe out in the midterms despite all those accomplishments. George Carlin said it best. Americans will sell their rights for a cheaper blender.

The message should be the Rs are the party of cruelty & lies and SWM supremacy both in rhetoric and as demonstrated whenever and wherever they have power. They are even willing to brush the voters aside to obtain those objectives. The Rs have convinced themselves that the way ahead is to tear down and scapegoat anyone that doesn't look like themselves to fill whatever void exists in their heart but all it does is make the hole even bigger.

The Ds need to emphasize they are the party of economic stewardship, science and education, regulated capitalism, democracy, women's rights and equality, diversity and multiculturalism, health and safety (from contagions and guns), and a strong national defense.

Take for example PA Lt. Governor Fetterman, who is also taking my advice to run against Washington while also running an economic improvement message in his campaign to be elected to PA's open Senate seat.

So the judge in the MAL search warrant case is looking to have a redacted version of the affidavit released which is extremely unusual to say the least however this is an extremely usual case given everything:



The government must be totally happily with this ruling though knew again given the circumstances it was a very real possibility and are actually much more comfortable with it then Trump. Again he just wants the names leaked so the media just focuses on that and more importantly, he can put a target on their head. The fact that their names will remain sealed is a major loss for him but that was never going to happen anyway.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A Florida judge on Thursday declared a Florida law championed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis that restricts race-based conversation and analysis in business and education unconstitutional.

Tallahassee U.S. District Judge Mark Walker said in a 44-page ruling that the “Stop WOKE” act violates the First Amendment and is impermissibly vague. Walker also refused to issue a stay that would keep the law in effect during any appeal by the state.

Trump has threatened to release the footage of the FBI raid in order to endanger the FBI agents. This is what is known as stochastic terrorism. He's implicitly asking others to act for him and engage in random of acts of terrorism.

And the funny thing is that if he releases an edited version of the tape, they will ask for the whole tape because now it's evidence of obstruction of justice.

While I wish I could say this was going somewhere, we all know that the relevant circuit court of appeals will reverse, and SCOTUS will decline to intervene. As wrong as it is, DeSantis will prevail on this law.

The correct answer here is for corporations to leave. If he wants to make Florida a MAGA paradise, then prepare for capital flight to other states. Money talks—it always has.

 

If the courts allow DeSantis to do this, then Biden should appoint Warren as the next U.S. Attorney in one of the districts of Florida when the time comes.

Some were saying that Trump was losing his power over the GOP slowly due to the 6 January commission. However, others disputed that, which leads me to speculate that those who supposedly turned against him were lying because they were embarrassed to admit that they support him. Or something. For whatever reason, the FBI investigation has deepened his support. I attribute this to Garland not properly explaining the intent of the raid.
