@anakinfansince1983 They voted for it knowing it was going to fail so they can go "hey don't blame us we voted for a doom bill that we did absolutely nothing to try and sway our colleagues on". Keep in mind Senator Murphy missed the vote because he tested positive for COVID yet they went ahead with anyway knowing it was going to fail. If the bill had an actual chance of passing, almost all of them would have voted against it.

@PCCViking Calling Kayne an idiot is insulting idiots, however, he is proving to be an useful idiot by showing how deep fascism runs in the GOP and proving to be a total nightmare for Musk who now has his alt-right fans screaming their head off about "free speech" while he is insisting that he was suspended for "incitement to violence" not that he posted unflattering pics of Musk mocking him. Kayne btw now is posting on Truth Social. :)

Meanwhile, master arsonist wants his fellow arsonists freed from jail:

He truly is like a robber doing everything he can to get away from the cops including kicking over stuff. Sadly it will almost certainly work again. :(

Odd, was that violating a law, or spam? Weren't those the only reasons that 'free speech' would be restricted on Twitter. (I guess it violates some rules in EU countries, but since when has Elon cared about them?)
Also, Elon was quick to say "I didn't reinstate him, the decision happened before I took over" [face_laugh]

Fuentes and Milo emphasized the virulent anti-Semitism without mentioning the virulent racism and Kanye can't crack open a Wikipedia article.

Since earlier this week, he's been reminded that if he doesn't clean up his act, he's going to get fined in the tens of millions at first, and in the hundreds of millions if he doesn't comply.

Thousands of laborers are getting their rights violated today and people would rather discuss Kanye. The state of American politics.

I don't understand it, either. But his family really needs to put him in a hospital. The Nazis are unstable, awful people, and he's trying way too much to appeal to them. He's going full Bully over it, and he needs some medication. Nothing wrong with that. It helps some people rebound in life. But he's got a lot of hatred toward those he thinks are beneath him, and he is anything but emotionally healthy. I mean, emotionally healthy people ain't saintly or perfect, but they listen to other people and are willing to alter their opinions if needs be. I watch Star Wars to learn and experience opposition to different forms of fascism, and I like he adult morally ambiguous but good opposition and the more black-and-white interpretation of opposition to totalitarianism, as well. What we have here is a youthful man who doesn't understand any of that. He lacks empathy for others around him, and he needs to stop hurting folks.

@blackmyron Yeah Musk could care less if Twitter even gets banned from the EU let alone fined. He just cares about the American audience and appeasing his Chinese handlers.

    Meanwhile, in Florida.....

Looks like Ron's stunt finally meet reality but of course they waited to after the election for them to suddenly admit it was just a political stunt. Perhaps Iger's return help speed it up because there is no way Iger would let Ron dictate anything to him for one moment.

And the House Republican food fight continues to gain pies:

Ron dodged the consequences of this stupid political stunt completely. The timing - right now at this moment is pitch perfect for Ron. It wasn’t before the election and doesn’t step on the tails of his victory lap. And it’s happening before Ron is running for president.

Now his potential base will vaguely remember Ron pushed around Disney for a victory as their only takeaway.

Iger's return allows them to claim "victory" as a face-saving measure.

If Disney did get their private government status revoked it would have cost many millions of dollars for the State of Florida. Paying the state taxes instead of footing the bill themselves would have saved Disney a huge sum if money.

@blackmyron He won't even go that far, Ron will just pretend none of it ever happened and move on especially the high of the right wing insanity seems to be on Twitter right now and the fight over "free speech" in their twisted minds along with of course believing everything is stolen from them including elections for obvious reasons. And of course Hunter Biden.

So seems like welcoming immigrants would solve number three but what do I know:

There are a couple of rationales for picking the first primary state:

    1. To help build the party apparatus in a state you hope to win later in the cycle- In the last few decades, this hasn't really worked.
    2. To reward influential political supporters- There haven't been any in Iowa for a long time. Jim Clyburn is right there.
    3. To allow input from the groups that are the largest/most important constituencies in your party- Iowa is a bunch of old white people in a party that is primarily skews young and minority.
    4. Because this place is representative of the larger nation- Iowa has produced a bunch of MAGA weirdos. Caucus winners in recent memory include Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and Ted Cruz. All of whom are more conservative than the national party, as likewise is there current governor and senators.

What is the good rationale for Iowa?

Trump has been raging on Social Media all day that he should be installed as president immediately and even admits the "constitution should be suspended" while MAGAers are ratcheting up calls for violence now since they were denied the right to see Hunter Biden's junk:

But please let's talk more about how only 98% of senate Democrats voted for the 7-day sick leave for railroad workers and forget that like 12% of Senate Republicans did, I am totally psyched!

I'm so glad Jefferson put in that bit about the rights to tweet into the Constitution.

Yeah, these people are ignorant and insane. And bloodthirsty. There's group-think creeping into this now, too, where its all one convoluted dumb message. They've known for some time that voting isn't going to get them the theocratic authoritarian guv'ment of their dreams.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollea_v._Gawker

That's why Gawker went bankrupt and was sold off. It was Peter Thiel bankrolling Hulk Hogan. The same Thiel who bankrolls Republican candidates like Masters and Vance now. The same Thiel who replaced Musk at PayPal after Musk was fired as CEO.

@DarkGingerJedi At this point I just wonder which MAGA politician will lite the match. Trump seems the most likely candidate but don't sleep on someone like Kari Lake and others of her ilk. It just takes one.

@MagnarTheGreat As others have pointed out, that is one of the many ironic things about this whole insanity that Musk started last night. James Woods says he is suing Twitter (LOL!) the DNC and for a moment, let's assume he goes through with it. The DNC then has the right to call in Twitter as a co-defendant, therefore, Musk would caused his own company. If he is playing 3D chess, he must be eating the chessboard while he does it.
