In Thiel's defense (I can't believe I'd ever say that), Thiel was responsible for ditching Musk after Musk doubled down on some sort of **** idea that seems to be recycled here into Musk's Twitter 2.0.

I don't feel very charitable for Gawker here. Sure, Thiel is a bad guy, but Gawker posted video footage of Hulk Hogan having sex. That's a no no. That's a very big no no. What happened to Gawker is what they ****ing deserved.

Yeah, the reason why Gawker went bankrupt was their own behavior.

Yes and now conservatives have made illegal Hunter porn their hobby horse and cause like James Woods. Same thing that put Gawker into trouble.

Thiel is probably the most powerful evil oligarch most people haven't heard of, but yeah, I can't say I was ever onboard with the framing of the case as billionaires vs. "journalistic freedom." The contemporary federal crackdown on whistleblowers and the journalists they talked to, for example, was a lot more compelling.

Unfortunately, the people who like to defend Gawker or decry it getting sued also are likely to think federal whistleblowers deserve it, I suspect

And right on cue Trump is demanding that the constitution be torn up and him installed as rightful president asap. Or as he’s calling it: “UNPRECEDENTED FRAUD REQUIRES UNPRECEDENTED CURE!”

amazing how Biden and Twitter trampled on the 1st amendment … and the solution is to get rid of all of them.

Musk going full MAGA assist mode is one of the stranger things that’s happened recently. I understand there’s money to be made by becoming a part of the conservative 24/7 alternate reality outrage factory. And a lot of megalomaniacs dream of having a cult as big and fanatical as Trump’s/taking over his. But it still seems self-defeating for someone in his position.

Musk won’t be happy until he turns twitter into the very thing he believes it was for the “left”. A funnel. That way he can personally benefit from being judge and jury over “free speech”, while labeling the center right Dems as being Far
Leftists, and score his own devoted
Cult following in the process. The guy can’t ever be prez, so that right there is worth it all.

Musk is ridik as always. His banning of Ye will be the only right thing he accomplished. Yet I pray [says in my best Amidala imitation] that Twitter somehow becomes irrelevant.

    https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/liberal-americans-sharing-why-dont-224602247.html

As you can see here, liberal and leftist Americans refuse to date conservatives for a reason. The number one reason is that we queer folks refuse to date anyone who wants us dead. Plain and simple. Why would I or even my cis partner date anyone who wanted to take our rights away? Honestly, my late wife inspired me to stand up for myself. The last exes I had were those silly Dallas, Texas, New Agers during 2016 and 2017 who thought animals were more important than humans. I mean, since early 2019, I don't consume any animal products, aside from shrimp and milk (from a compassionate company), but I think human rights (including LGBTQ+ rights) are a little more pivotal in this discussion. Lol. Those ladies sounded a bit like Himmler without being cognizant about it. Gosh, redneck New Agers' obsessions with wombs in general make them sound a lot like Himmler!

Evidently, several immigrants wouldn't want to date conservatives. They are not lazy. They are hardworking. Can't blame them. Oh, obviously, nobody wants to date anti-abortionists. Ew. George Carlin said that nobody wants to "****" them "in the first place." Guess he was right in more ways than one. Lol. The person who answered this survey typed the following:

I dated a guy, and I got pregnant, like, reeeeeally early into the relationship. He was so cool, I just assumed he shared my political views. I had an abortion and didn’t think much of it other than feeling like a dumbass for not using a condom that one time. I found out 2.5 years later when we broke up that he never loved me because he couldn’t respect a woman who so easily chose an abortion. Turned out, he cheated on me with a girl who shared his traditional values and got her pregnant months after we broke up.

So, I have total sympathy for her. The ex was a dumbass cheater and ****ing bastard. The article goes into depth vis-a-vis how women will eventually disagree with conservatives in terms of how to raise their kids. And who can blame them? And as for women, this wasn't mentioned here, but imagine a lesbian like me finding a woman who likes Trump or DeSantis? No! All my exes sucked because they liked conservatives. All of them except a cis woman with my deadname and a Hispanic lady whose parents were from Mexico. They hate Trump and DeSantis, and they are the only exes my late wife and I would talk with...since they are evidently good people. :)

I read the whole Twitter file thing and I dont get it. What is it that was revealed that we didnt already know? The Hunter Biden story was shushed to help Biden defeat Satan himself. Both Democrats and Republicans were constantly asking Twitter to delete tweets, Democrats more than Republicans, ok. I still dont get it. What's the big reveal? Was it the emails? If they're calling this collusion its the exact opposite. The private emails reveal there was confusion and ambiguity in Twitter as to how to proceed.

Nothing. There was absolutely no evidence the Democrats or Federal government asked Twitter to tank the posting of the NYPost story -- it was all Twitter.

I saw this summarized somewhere as:

It’s a nothing burger. But conservatives in their make believe conspiracy land will pretend this is the hard proof of Biden’s giant scheme as the evil puppet master.

But that make believe world also needs Biden to be an incompetent leader incapable of getting anything done that has no chance against MAGA world.

The only point is to provide a false air of ‘truthiness’ to the MAGA world conspiracy cult. He buys Twitter, then claims it rigged the election, then claims it/the Dems conspired to quash the horrible (non-existent) Hunter truth.
Trumpism 101- all that matters is getting the lie out into the ether, blaring it out. The fact checkers never get as much attention as the lie. And the fact that Musk owns Twitter gives instant false credibility to his lies. That’s why the MAGAts are falling over themselves thanking him for exposing ‘the truth.’

    https://news.yahoo.com/trump-demands-america-rip-constitution-013553288.html

Trump is now demanding that the U.S. Constitution be removed in order to install him as president. Well, I appreciate the clarity, but as flawed as the Constitution is, and as much as it requires improvement via amendment (several, I'd wager), we will not shred it.

Anyhow, the Twitter files, yeah, I need to read that. It's boring material, but I'll check it out.

Reads...nods...gosh... Look, I understand that Hunter used his dad's name and got on to that company without knowing about energy. Get all that. Comprehends. But the Trumps have committed far worse financial crimes in this country. White collar-corporate crime has ravaged the working folks in this country. So, I think Ukrainians have a right to complain about what Hunter did. But the Trumps have done far more damage to Americans, and that's what we should focus on. In an ideal world, we could eliminate white collar-corporate crime, and that's what I would desire if it was possible. Okay. Get it. Musk is dumb enough to believe in conspiracy theories. Knew that.

So, here we go. Musk is not very smart, and being a billionaire has dumbed him down, not made him smarter. I totally concur. Twitter is a threat to democracy and I concur.

My guess is someone is bound to go to court, and then they'll tell this person that they have to prove that Twitter suppressing the Hunter Biden story caused Trump to lose. I'd love to listen to the lawyers argue this. What a clown show.

I wonder if Republicans will still read the Constitution after Trump just called for it to be terminated. Kinda undermines whatever point they wanted to make.

I think more importantly than comparing to the Trumps. . .what does this have to with the actual Biden administration? No one told Hunter to go out and do that. It is bad that he did and it is also his own fault. If judged sufficiently criminal to prosecute I'll happily see the guy go to jail. But what does any of this have to do with the legitimacy of the United States current government?

Agreed. The current Biden administration did not do this. So, legally speaking, that is not relevant. I mean, while it's unfortunate that this happened, old Biden is, essentially, doing what the Europeans want by supporting Ukraine now...and so I think that's good.

The Trumps lead failed businesses and their wealth is based on decades of tax evasion and so on. They are the ones who concern me. Trump is a white collar-corporate criminal, as are his three adult kids (by Ivana). So, that's the relevant point.

So now that we know (once again but this time definitively) that he won’t preserve, protect, defend, or for that matter, uphold the Constitution, can we make THAT the reason he is disqualified from ever holding office again?

I mean, it’s literally an oath he swears. It’s not a yes or no option.

According to Congressional Republicans today, this still doesn’t count as a reason not to vote for him.
