INTRODUCTION
1. American citizens deserve fair elections. Every legal – not illegal –
vote should be counted. And no government power, be it state or federal, may deny
American citizens the right to observe the process by which votes are cast, processed,
and tabulated. We must protect our democracy with complete transparency.

2. Nothing less than the integrity of the 2020 Presidential election is at
stake in this action. Defendants, the very officials charged with ensuring the
integrity of the election in Pennsylvania, have so mismanaged the election process
that no one – not the voters and not President Trump’s campaign – can have any
faith that their most sacred and basic rights under the United States Constitution are
being protected. The evidence is plain that Defendants have been and are blatantly
violating the protections and procedures, including those enacted by the
Pennsylvania General Assembly, vitally necessary to ensure that the votes of the
citizens of Pennsylvania are not illegally diluted by invalid ballots and that the
election is free and fair.

3. While the bedrock of American elections has been transparency, almost
every critical aspect of Pennsylvania’s November 3, 2020 General Election was
effectively shrouded in secrecy. Democrat-majority counties provided political
parties and candidates, including the Trump Campaign, no meaningful access or
actual opportunity to review and assess mail-in ballots during the pre-canvassing
meetings.

 

No as explained the Secretary will likely just say the first count stands. And they get certified. There is no way the Biden votes are gonna get tossed legally.

 

Great for the lawyers Biden has hired. Responding to frivolous nuisance suits gets billed the same way as real litigation.

 

Also Trump’s lawyers better watch their ass. They keep filing dumb suits one day that might come back to haunt them

Trump’s in for a very very very rude awakening if he thinks he’ll pull a actual coup

 

He’s willing to destroy a nation to avoid a possible jail sentence.

 

How long before you think he tries to spring his coup? Or do you think he waits for January 20th

 

Hmm. After the EC votes for Biden, Trump still refuses to concede. Protesters hit the streets and he says this is an insurrection. Uses the military. Etc, etc.

Or after GA election.

 

I’m totally guessing but as I said before, don’t let the electoral vote happen so the day passes, then the Constitution is on his side... deadline passed (regardless of reason) so House votes. So then it’s either House vote or SCOTUS and in his mind he has the advantage in both.

 

Again @DarkGingerJedi there is no law about him conceding. It is just a tradition just like many things Trump will break between now and leaves office.

And if he is planning a coup, he certainly is not doing much to plan for it which again is typical Trump. Have delusions of grandeur but no way of actually doing it.

The firings btw at the Pentagon are more to do with revenge and possibly rushing troop withdrawals in the Middle East then anything else. Still though this is messed up bleep. James Anderson as he left the Pentagon was given a "clap out" for his service. The WH supposedly called and asked for any names of political appointees that took part so they can fire them. This truly is insanity.

I don’t think trump understands that if he somehow forces this on SCOTUS or the House. This country is done. I also really doubt that SCOTUS will rule in favor of him. We are loving through someone who wants to be dictator for life I just don’t think it’s gonna go well for trump.

 

I doubt there will be a coup. If it comes to that, the generals will just hang up on him. Then Anita Dunn or someone else at SKD Knickerbocker will call NFL Security for strong arming, and they'll call Trump's USSS detail and be like, "Ok, if you guys want jobs after this you gotta boot him out," and that'll be the end of it.

Wall Street gave Biden a ****-ton of money to get him the win, they don't want a coup, and they'll call the right people if needed.

 

Trump thinks if he brings this to SCOTUS it will be Bush v. Gore all over again. It won’t be. The circumstances are way different

 

I seriously starting to doubt they will hear the case at this point. These are getting toss out of court so fast Trump's lawyers heads are spinning. The SC is not McDonald's as you cannot have it your way, right away. I am starting to think they will just say "nah" and let the lower court cases stand.

 

Yah Trump pushed Barret because he thought he could contest the election in the Supreme Court but right now nothing is actually making it to the Supreme Court. In his head, it's his Supreme Court so they'll hand him the election. He literally has been saying that for weeks and at his 2:30 AM "We won this election" speech. He truly does believe it was fraud and he'll keep suing to prove that point.

My guess is he keeps trying lawsuits, thinking that it'll get to the SC and they'll say it was fraud, until he walks out at like 11 AM on Inauguration Day, twittering all the way, back down to his resort to golf. Or the whole "never comes back from break" scenario. A full on coup would require people with guns to actually side with him and nobody likes him that much enough to do so. Or he just sits in the White House all the time and doesn't leave or acknowledge the election result and will be physically escorted from the premise. He's in full on pouty baby mode. Anyone thinking he'll "get over it" and accept the results isn't acknowledging the fact that he is not mentally stable. The only scenario he knows is to whine and sue until he gets his way, which is what is happening now.

Now could the Republicans slow or stop the electoral votes/inauguration/transfer of power process until "something" gets to the SC? Maybe. Or what happens if the electors straight up refuse to abide by the votes and either abstain or change their vote?

 

I saw a story yesterday about how the administration just kinda forgot about how they were going to ban TikTok and the company is openly wondering wtf is going on.

And yeah, I don't think he's going to launch a serious coup attempt. He doesn't have the institutional support for it anyway. I think the main danger is that for all their bumbling, the administration is exposing what are obvious weaknesses in our system (inefficient and disparate voting, there's too much time between the election and inauguration). They're providing a blueprint for more competent fascists to improve and refine, and who may have more support against, say, a President-elect who's a bit to the left of the segregationist Senator from MBNA.

 

A good bulwark would be to remove the electoral college if we did we could move inauguration a lot close to the election. But we all know that isn’t happening.

 

Honestly the main immediate danger is probably their rhetoric inciting some heavily armed conspiracy reader to shoot up some place. ... Again.

 

Have there been any recent ones? Last one I can think of is Pizza gate that caused an actual shooting

 

That’s the one I was thinking of, although two guys were busted for allegedly planning to hit a PA vote counting facility before the race was called.

 

So GOP chair in NC said "democracy is messing and the nation patience wears thin but will get the correct winner in the end". Ummmmm no. Ummmmmm governing is messing yes but elections are free and easy with very specific rules and regulations in place. Your side is just dragging out a process that has worked really smoothly since 1876 because you are afraid of your hillbilly base and your crazy cult leader.

I am just so sick of this crap. I am just glad really good people are fighting against it and unlike Trump's people are really smart and know what they are doing.
