And unlike McCain in 2008, Trump will use it as a weapon.

Biden and Kamala live right now. Biden has his gaffes, but he can read and deliver a good speech.

Where's Roger Mudd to ask "Why do you want to be a senator?" I don't think Joe Kennedy would fare any better than Ted Kennedy did with Mudd's famous question to him in 1979. Ed Markey is one of the most progressive members of Congress-- Kennedy's candidacy is completely unnecessary.

It's necessary for the same reason the challenges to AOC, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib were necessary.

How so? Not necessarily disagreeing-- just interested in more detail.

Markey was an early supporter of Medicare for All and introduced the Green New Deal in the Senate. My understanding is that he's become more progressive during his tenure. Joe Kennedy III's campaign aims to stop that.

Oh, now I understand. Stopping it under the guise of becoming more progressive, of course.

As dirty as he's ever been. Scumbag.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-postal-service-mail-in-voting-coronavirus-funding-151003445.html

President Trump on Thursday said he is withholding approval for a coronavirus relief package because Democrats want to include funds for mail-in voting.

The president said Democrats want $25 billion for the U.S. Postal Service, $3.5 billion of which would be used to shore up infrastructure amid logistical challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is predicted to keep some voters from going to the polls in November.

He must be pretty sure at this point he couldn't possibly win a free and fair election in November.

It's kind of funny how Markey now gets treated as some sort of highly progressive senator, while Biden gets treated as guy who got stuck in the 80s, with people often referring to bad decisions and votes he made back then, while Markey somehow gets a pass for making exactly the same calls. If things he did back then are enough to disqualify Biden now, then that must equally apply to Markey. And if Markey's recent behaviour is enough to make up for it, then it is kind of odd not to give Biden the chance, seeing how Biden couldn't possibly vote on stuff when not being in any office.

Not that he should be replaced, it's better to have him then Kennedy, but he does get the benefit of the doubt for things that somehow are inexcusable for others.

He's far from perfect and I probably wouldn't be defending him if not for the rich kid trying to unseat him, but Markey has admitted to making mistakes, supports progressive legislation and politicians, and helped write Green New Deal legislation. Biden defends, doubles-down, and lies about everything in his record and has said he would veto Medicare for All. They're different.

Listen, if he wants me to go in line and vote him out, I will. But I'll just be more determined to punish any and all Republicans down ballot. And I don't think I'm alone in that feeling.

I was back in the office on Monday for the first time in a few weeks. The northwest end of the Chicago Loop seems to be running at about 5-10% normal activity. Many many businesses are permanently closed now. The train at rush hour is up to about 10 people per car, making social distancing a breeze. The Chicago Transit Authority is going to need some kind of massive bailout along with probably almost every other major metro public transit service.

Angry Trump tweet directed at the SC expected any moment now.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/high-court-nixes-gop-move-153604423.html

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday left in place an agreement that allows Rhode Island residents to vote by mail in two upcoming elections without signing their ballots in the presence of two witnesses or a notary.

State officials had agreed to suspend the requirement because of the coronavirus pandemic. They have said that fulfilling the requirement results in close contact between voters and others, which could expose people to the virus.

The high court rejected an effort by the Republican National Committee and the Republican Party of Rhode Island to put the agreement on hold, noting that “no state official has expressed opposition.”

Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch would have put the agreement on hold.

    In other news....

Supreme Court of Puerto Rico orders that last Sunday's botched primaries be finished this coming Sunday. The votes that were cast will be counted. People are satisfied with the decision but still angry at what happened and demand answers. So far, as expected, nothing.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to post a picture I found on Facebook that is perfectly captioned. Since the captions are in Spanish, the top picture shows the Greater San Juan Metropolitan Area, and bottom one shows how Puerto Rico is shown in Hollywood movies. Found it quite funny.

The scheme to steal the elections continues

    https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/...jLhSCPS3dZCQ2x0ZkkVOWBa2dsWpTfWxqydX2ZFtjOv3A

The United States Postal Service is removing mail sorting machines from facilities around the country without any official explanation or reason given, Motherboard has learned through interviews with postal workers and union officials. In many cases, these are the same machines that would be tasked with sorting ballots, calling into question promises made by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy that the USPS has “ample capacity” to handle the predicted surge in mail-in ballots.

Motherboard identified 19 mail sorting machines from five processing facilities across the U.S. that either have already been removed or are scheduled to be in the near future. But the Postal Service operates hundreds of distribution facilities around the country, so it is not clear precisely how many machines are getting removed and for what purpose.
